2016 NFL Season

So begins a new season. We hosted the Chicago Bears to kick off the 2016 season. We ended up winning 23-14. It wasn't any kind of pretty performance, but more like the Texans relying on defense doing all the work while still having just enough offense to win. The strategy worked. Despite the win, I still think the Texans need to improve on offense. While the offense is good, it can be better. It is something I hope my team can improve upon as the season goes along. Still, I'm happy with the win.

Well... that's the Texans report from me. How did your boys do this week? Congratulations to all winners from this week's games.

Who dey! Crazy day of football for sure.

Well both my teams were taken very much to the wire. Yet again it appears the Broncos will not be for the faint-hearted. Packers-Jags was a good watch though.

Matt Prater missed an extra point and then redeemed himself with a clutch field goal allowing the Lions to take the lead with 4 seconds left in the game. Then the Colts made an illegal forward pass in the end zone of the last play of the game which resulted in a safety and the first win of the season for the Lions. 39-35 Detroit.

The Cincy o-line really needs to step up their game. Allowing 7 sacks may not cost us a game like the one today, but it would be a completely different outcome if it happened say, next week against the Steelers. I honestly don't know how we won today. The missed XP by Folk came back to haunt them and cost them the game.

By the way, how amazing was Green today? That man can make some impressive catches.

1-0. WHO DEY!!!

Apparently Mario Williams's concussion was due to him banging his head against a wall after Andrew Franks screwed up the FG.

If that was true, then it brings back memories of Gus Frerotte. It wouldn't be quite as dumb as Frerotte's though, as his head butt was in celebration.

Tonight is the first of many Monday nights in which the NFL will be battling for your attention. I am a bit tardy to the party, but it's still time to do this John style. So...

Steelers at Redskins, and Rams at 49ers both TONIGHT!

Since I'm rather late discussing this, forget any fancy story or hype to these games. Just know that [NFL] football is back.

Per the request of a GTPlaneteer long ago, I also mention betting lines in my Monday Night Football posts. So for the PIT as WAS game, PIT is favored by 2, and the Over/Under for this game is 49 points. The LA at SF game sees LA favored by 2. The Over/Under for LA at SF is 43 points.

Good luck to all four teams tonight.

It's not a joke! That's what happened according to the Dolphins beat writer. And then Mario, who was having an awesome game, couldn't play on Seattle's game-winning drive. That's how Russell Wilson was finally able to make all those throws. #SameOldDolphins

Wow...Why do football players have to be so dumb? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that banging your head against a hard wall just might do some damage.

Giants barely manage to beat the Cowgirls without Romo... But I'll take a 1-0 start because it took us until at least week 6 the past two years to get a win.

Congrats to the Patriots on their AFC East title.
Next three games are home so Brady is likely to come back to a 4-0 record.

:banghead: <- Goodell.

Cincy did not deserve that win. But I'll sure as hell take it.

Sure we didn't look great, but pulling out a win in a game we probably should have lost might pay big dividends at the end of the season.

The Bengals unveiled their "Color Rush" uniforms for the game vs Miami today

At first I thought we got new road uniforms. I would have thought the Color Rush ones would have been all orange.

I think the Color Rush kits have to be white vs. color due to the color-blind fiasco last year. Miami's color rush uniforms are going to be all orange for that game.

edit: Yep, for each game it's color vs white or dark (black). No similar colors for any colorblind folks this time around.

And here's Jarvis Landry looking like a orange highlighter of destruction:

Just wanted to say that I love Kevin Harlan. He's one of my favorite play-by-play announcers besides Marv Albert, Gus Johnson, and Vin Scully. That was pretty classic by Kevin Harlan calling that dope getting taken down by security.

O-MA-HA! Uh... I mean, hello! :) Remember that the season isn't over after week 1. It isn't "Win or Go Home" until the playoffs start. And of course, you can't make the playoffs after Week 1. So let's begin a new week. Tonight marks the CBS/NFL Network debut of Thursday Night Football. Here are this week's marquee matches:

* THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 2: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (Blitz24 and kjb vs. samurai8juice inner-forum rivalry)
* SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 2: Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
* MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL WEEK 2: Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears

There are plenty other games coming up this week. Some games include my Texans hosting the Kansas City Chiefs, the Miami Dolphins going up to face the New England Patriots, and the Dallas Cowboys at the Washington Redskins among others.

Enjoy this week's games. Good luck to all of your favorite teams.

Yep. Buffalo's season is about over now. After last week I knew if they went after anyone who was pass happy they were screwed, and didn't get why Baltimore didn't do it more at the time.

Worthy tweet:

Hopefully I'm not the only one who thought Doug Marrone was better than Rex Ryan. The man lead the team to their first 9-7 season, even if the Pats did give them a free Week 17 win. They should've tried harder to keep Doug Marrone or atleast Jim Schwartz...Jim Schwartz is the only reason why the Bills' defense played as good as it did that season.

I just remember when they beat the Lions 14-13 they carried Jim Schwartz off the field...

Shows how much the players loved him.

I mean there's still time for this team to turn it around...but they'll have to play lights out for the rest of the season.
