Amazing how the "street" production race cars can run AWD and major top tier series "production based" cars don't.

Yep. The live stream begins tomorrow at 9.45am. Can't wait to see strategies, terminal speeds and battles, from start to finish.

Chaz digs it.

Production car racing is the future and I s's happening now. No need to get permission from a manufacturer, to run certain cars. The cars are pretty quick(the M4 was clocked at 274kmh), new and have current technology, durable and don't seem expensive to maintain.

Imagine the people entering Alfa Giulia, Stinger GT, Lexus models, Hyundai Elantra Sport, etc.

Plenty of people poo poo Production Cars but that's what our famous Bathurst endurance race was built on.
If they banned Supercars from that October weekend & the only option was these cars, the crowds would still turn up because the stars would still be in the cars.

Yep. Even an RX-8 is in the mix. So many people, just like tomorrow, would enjoy this. V8s, turbos, sedans, hatches, coupes. Someone should run a wagon again(say, there's an awd turbo Holden wagon coming next year ;) ).

For sure.

It's fast, but the other cars aren't far behind over a lap. The big test will be reliability(of those turbos).
With such a straight line speed advantage, it's going to take some very crafty driving to get in front of & stay in front of that M4.
If the Sherrins drive a wide car across the top, they'll easily stay in the lead. How everything shakes out post pitstops is another question.

Watched this a few times now and I still don't know how they managed to get away with that. Incredible save.

10/10 to Jarvis for having a red hot go 👍

Alpine fresh: Alpina-fettled BMWs have hit Australian shores available across the 3 and 4 Series range in sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon body stylesView attachment 609723

A shame, as the B3 Touring(Opening the range is the $155,900 B3 sedan – priced at a $16,285 premium over BMW’s M3 sportscar – while opting for the B3 Touring moves prices up to $160,900) just misses the $150k cap price for eligibility.

On the livestream, it says it starts in about 8 hours. Is that the start of the main 6 hour race, or the start of the broadcast which includes some of the support races?

The race is 11:30-5:30.

I have to admit I wouldn't be a fan of cars such as Alpina BMWs in the race. To me, you either run a standard BMW or the M models such as M2, M3, M4 etc...
Same thing applies for Holdens & HSVs
I also think the organisers could lower the $150k eligibility cap down to $100k. The Sherrin's M4 must owe them over $200k in its current form & we'd see a lot more current or just superseded makes/models and less of the Grandpa's Camry type in the race.

They'd almost have to regulate by year. The AU Falcon, Pulsar, Excel, Eunos and MX-6 are all old as well. The DC2 Integra, is pretty much in that mix.

I guess Shannon's want to make it an open invitation for their race classes. They could easily make cars like the Swift, Mazda2, Yaris, Fit, i20, MiTO, Fiat 500, the lowest tier. Or advise cars no older than 10-15years from current year.
