Find it hard to believe that the 24 would ever be referred to as an inferior car unless there was an issue with who had older tires, as this was not the case. Maybe you didnt watch the race. But you can read this board and pretty much everyone here with the exception of the guy blaming Newman saw him give away yet another race
He didn't win, but I wouldn't even say that one was a giveaway, at least compared to the restart flubs. Kyle did have somewhat fresher tires (and in NASCAR, according to everyone in it, even one lap is considered an advantage) and it's Dover, where if you put you car where it doesn't want to go it will bite back. Kyle'd been yo-yoing all day, and he hit the upswing at the best possible moment. When he pulled his stuff off after the race, he looked like hell, if he'd made one mistake (or one more than he did) he might not have done it.

All this talk about Chase, but what stuck with me is that Kyle didn't touch Chase, gave him room to work with, and even gave praise in the post-race. I know he's not the Grade A 🤬 he used to be, but that's still quite different form.

The Charlotte road course is getting a couple of chicanes added in, one at the end of the backstretch and one before the start/finish line. The start/finish line one was a given, otherwise they would have needed to brake before crossing the line, something that likely would have been an issue on the final lap. Also synthetic turf is being added which supposedly slows down the cars faster. We'll see how that works out.

Also here are the Hendrick schemes for next year. I have no idea if they are the main schemes or part time. I can't see Johnson running a Lowesforpros scheme all season long instead of a simple Lowe's paint job.

These were revealed at a big Hendrick event last night, so it looks like they're the primaries.

The real deals certainly look much better than those renders, but I still think they could have given Elliott a better number design than just generic stretched-out Impact font.
 
Now it's up to Ford to change their noses because with the new Chevy nose and the Toyota nose the Fords are gonna need all that front downforce they are lacking.

The design styles on the 9, 48, and 88 are so similar, it would look nicer if they had coordinated them a little more. As a team, they look a little all over the place.

Few things:
1. #24 scheme looks freakin epic and I want it on an RC car BAD. (fitting since William Byron is a champion RC car racer.)
2. The Camaro bodies look like an arse-tastic mashup of the outgoing SS and a Camaro GT4. I hate it. Especially knowing NASCAR can do better.
3. #88 and #9 look kinda boring.

Alex Bowman steps right in and wins the race. I think the 88 will be just fine next year. Nice to see this guy get a chance to run top tier in good equipment

Said the interior got a lot warmer with the crush pannels knocked out of it. Quite a few drivers needed fluids after this one.

Bummer, there goes all the stage wins and points from the regular season...
 
A few musings from the race:

-Ho hum...Truex wins...business as usual.
-Bummer for Kurt at the end there, but great finish for Jamie Mac.
-Speaking of Busch bros...I don't understand NASCAR's rationale with when to throw the caution or not. Twice Kyle got into the wall, no spin, and the caution was thrown. Yet last night during the Busc...err...Nationwide race, a car spun in the middle of turns 3 and 4 late in the race (either Koch or Annett, I can't remember) IN FRONT OF MULTIPLE CARS and stopped on the apron. No caution. Thanks to the no-caution call, he ended losing a couple laps and had to pit and was one of the drivers eliminated from championship.
-Jimmie not getting penalized for having his car serviced outside the box...if I recall, that's a 1 lap penalty. It was on tape, everybody saw it, but NASCAR conveniently ignored it. Why? There was a huge point swing between where he finished and where he would (should) have.
-Oh, and that terrible, never-going-to-win driver finished 2nd again...how awful. :lol:

Apparently, NASCAR's effectively considering it a self-imposed penalty. I've seen a handful of times the teams stopped a car before it left entirely, but I never payed attention beyond that because it was usually a mid-rear car. NASCAR's reasoning is that it becomes a safety precaution AND they lose a chunk of track position to stop again and hit the lugs again.

See, that's the thing. I don't recall any penalties of that sort this year. Fox and NBC have been announcing every penalty on their broadcasts regularly, and I can't remember any of those coming across.

I didn't watch the race so I can't say much more than that.
