Hope they look elsewhere(not really). It's getting tired(or maybe I'm just tired).

PRA have beat RB and DJR have beat T8. Ford going global with the Mustang, just makes sense to be in the Australian market where the car is selling out. Especially when the category is showing in Europe and Asia, where the car is sold.

Sure, GT4 will showcase the Mustang, but it's not as high profile as Supercars with Penske onboard.

I'm predicting the Mondeo, that way Penske can run the same shape car in NASCAR and Supercars, tbh.

US market Ford Fusion is ROW Ford Mondeo.

No, not that. I'm saying what, as in what place do you go to come up with this stuff. NASCAR and Supercars are vastly different regulations. They're built very differently as well, and where NASCAR fails to actually look like a stock version, VASC doesn't. So what would it matter at the end of the day, Penske aren't saving money?

If you think I don't know that, then I dunno what to tell you man.

From a global marketing standpoint, using the same model of car(even if they're called different names) give you leverage. "Penske Racing wins in Fusion/Mondeo on both sides of the world, get to your local Ford dealer yadda yadda yadda."

Also lets you do fun things like when they promoted the Austin round w/ Kurt Busch and his SS.

Leverage for what, Ford aren't interested in Supercars, and while they're fine with teams running their cars. That's about as far as it goes. As for the the COTA non points round from years ago and doing a promo between Australias favorite series stacked up against America's most popular, the picture above is what you get. Hell if they actually were trying to promo, they'd have given Kurt the actual Chevy NASCAR mule and let Garth drive his regular race car to promote Holden.

Most people who see this and aren't major fans for years would see a Chevy something and whatever that car from a foreign land is called. You'd be hard pressed to get many people to see the promotion of GM products here.

COTA was a full points paying round of the series.

It's a bummer that there were too many complications with COTA that they never went back. From memory it had something to do with X Games having the same weekends already booked and not wanting to budge. It was far from an ideal circuit for Supercars, but it was undeniably cool to see them on a proper world stage.

Shoulda done a LRP/WGI double. Two tracks that suit those cars perfect.

I was there for that event and would have went again if they returned. Unfortunately I don't ever see them trying again which is a disappointment.

LRP? WGI?

You're going to have to help me out here :dopey:

Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen International.

Thing about a lot of US tracks is that their pit lanes are much different and could cause problems. Also Lime Rock Park is pretty low in facilities, would be about equal to say Symmons Plains or Winton or whatever, but if you're making a big trip to the US, you'd want something big from it.

Mock-up of a Kia Stinger in Supercars trim:

Doesn't inspire much of a reaction in me, probably because if you change the red to blue, it's a mock-up of a Mustang Supercar.
What's interesting, are the rear windscreens for the Mustang and Stinger. Makes me think the Holden will have the same rake. Meaning, the roll cage will have to change(the GT-R would work then).

As for this guy:

Again, seriously, DJRTP need to get him in a car for next year before someone else does. And I'd hate it if LDM offers him the seat for the remaining races.

I'd love to see Stanaway racing in Supercars full-time. As much as I enjoy seeing Australians and New Zealander's fighting against all odds to race in Europe (from a financial perspective), last year he showed real talent in the enduros, too good to pass up. His career path reminds me very much of James Courtney - from Formula One hopeful, to GT car ace with a couple of Supercars endurance races on the side. Perhaps DJRTP do need to sign him up to fulfil the prophecy (ala Courtney's 2010 championship success with DJR).

I'll take that. Shoot, if I were bold enough, I'd do a go fund me for a DJRTP seat for him. I think there are a few dormant RECs.

I've seen Watkins Glen on the TV from the NASCAR races & the long version with 'The boot' in Sportscar races. Great track but I agree with you about the pitlane 'facilities'. I'm sure Supercars would have concerns about the lack of run-off in the Tunnel Turn too.
*cough*Laguna Seca*cough*
Same thing as above. Great track, pit facilities absent.

Richie is way too smart to be fooled into a seat at LDM no matter how much he wants to be in a Supercar.
He's definitely a talent though so whoever waves the right contract under his nose will get his signature.

I'm sure he could do a race by race contract with LDM, if it came to that. They'd take it. It's on them to run a car for the season.

Oh I'm sure LDM would jump at the idea but I have to ask, what would it do to benefit Richie? Supercar miles? Yes. Quality Supercar miles? Er, no way.

Heck no about the car. Benefits would be, learning the tracks, tyres and seeing how race weekends go. Of course it's not like how Chaz went to DJR before PRA.

Dagnabbit. DJRTP, put the man in a spare FG X for the last two rounds. Then again, PRA could run him in S2 next year. Wildcard him and hope Bright calls time on his seat. No, I want him in DJRTP colours. ;)

or maybe a new Ford team.

While I am a Holden fan, seeing only 6 Fords feels totally wrong.

Jason Bright could do the Britek Racing thing for Richie. I guess I don't see a "privateer" using a Ford without being aligned with PRA/Rusty French or DJRTP money.

Had Betty kept the three FG IIs as is and Jonathan Webb kept his Star Wars Falcon, the grid would be almost even. Especially if the S60s stayed.
