Damn.

edit:// The "damn" is in reply to the Newcastle post, not the Super2 one.

I wonder if NZ Super Tourers could ever cross paths with Supercars. Similar to how TCM and NZ T/A did at Bathurst.

If I remember correctly, when they played a support role to the Supercars at Pukekohe a few years ago, they were around 2-3 seconds a lap slower in qualifying.
Take that into account & they probably wouldn't be that interested.

Tire and brake upgrade could see that gap come down? I'd like to see back to back times from the same driver in the two cars.

And Stanaway in a 4th. "Sign here please.".

Unless Roland wants to go back to running just the two cars, I can't see Lowndes leaving T8.

I can't see Dane having so much control over Lowndes' contract that he can block Lowndes from leaving if he really wants to.

Lowndes playing third wheel at 888 would still better than at most other teams.

Sorry for the double post but notice that the Holden signage is now in white? Definitely stands out more but I did sort of like that it previously was quite similar to the Red Bull F1 cars.

The white lettering looks better than the red but the whole car could've been done so much better.

Regarding Lowndes. If Craig is going to look elsewhere, it'll have to be one helluva deal to snag his signature. Triple Eight is still the pinnacle of Supercars & until that changes, I'd stay there.

By the sounds of that article he's willing and ready to sign a new deal. It just depends on what Roland's plans are. If he decides to scale the team back down to two cars, then Craig doesn't have a lot of choice.

More readable, yeah. Definitely doesn't make that livery look any better though.

At the time of the three car deal, Dane did say it was up to Craig- how long he wants to continue racing. Things change. Jamie looks to be staying, if only to beat Shane.

Why even mention Ford? Why be open, about the possibility, of looking elsewhere(this is Lowndes, not Tander, Courtney, Bright, etc.), when that has never been a factor? Again, times change. No doubt, DJRTP would have a car ready for him yesterday, if there was a whiff Lowndes was leaving T8.

I can't call it.

I see two things having an influence on Craig's decision.
1. If he feels like a distant third priority at Triple Eight, and,
2. How well he & his engineer, 'Irish', get the #888 performing.

Craig has always raced better than he's qualified & that's worked against him in recent years.
If he struggles to make the top 10 in qualifying on a continual basis, something will have to change.
Will Craig win another Supercar Championship? No.
Can he win more Bathurst 1000's? Hell yes if he's partnered with someone of equal talent.

Hell keep winning. It's the first question. He's already the third wheel and most likely, will be "2nd loser" on the podium at year's end.

Is he having fun at T8? I don't know.

It's his 13th season with T8 & I believe they're more like family than fellow employees. We don't always have fun with our families do we?
Craig has always said, he'll keep going as long as he's enjoying it, he's competitive and RD wants him around. RD has said similar.
Whatever they both want, the car has to be fully funded or, none of the above matters.

18th season with T8? He didn't join them until '05.

A new permanent circuit outside Newcastle is due to begin construction soon:

http://www.speedcafe.com/2017/03/19/new-motor-racing-complex-set-construction/

It's called Circuit Italia (because it's on Italia Road) and will be built to FIA Grade 2 specifications, so it could host Supercars. I wonder how long it will be before the City of Newcastle "convinces" VESA to move the race there ...

Fantastic news! All they need is a dragway. Saves driving 2hours to SMP. Also, so many classic car events can meet up. Might take a bit of money away from Newcastle CBD if the Supercars event is moved.

Edit: reported last year

Mr Higgins, a keen car buff, admitted he also had a strong personal motivation for building the track. 'have some nice cars I would like to be able to drive to their potential,” he smiled

Really wish they would stream the races this week. Hopefully they pop up on YouTube quickly.

No coverage of support races? Who does the F1 broadcast?
It's always been a "because F1 says so" deal I believe, which sucks. The races have shown up on YouTube shortly after though, so no big deal. Would just like to watch them live.

I'd like to know how a deal gets done to broadcast in Europe and Asia, but not the Americas.
