How long have they been racing at Barbagallo? They know it's an issue. It's always an issue. There's really no excuse for it.
Must have been a non issue since I didn't see anything about penalties. So moving on.

Apparently they couldn't settle it in time for the race. Probably because there was a knock-on effect; there were several cars in front of van Gisbergen who were all reacting to each other.

 Love the reaction by the crew and Fabian. Good stuff.

What a championship we are having so far this season. Action a-plenty and finally new challenges from other teams. Bring it home Scotty Mac!

CALLING ALL GOLD COAST 600 VETERANS:
I'm looking for some advice. Although I have been to Supercar events before (ITM Hamilton 400) I really would like to know as I will be going to the Gold Coast 600 this year. I have purchased Grandstand tickets (First chicane Turn 1). Do those tickets allow for entry into the pits? By that I mean the rear of the pits (Where drivers come and go and you can look in to each garage at your own leisure and usually get autographs) like you could in Hamilton. In Hamilton I had to buy a separate 'Pit Pass'. I will be investing in a 'Pit Walk' too as this is possibly the last time I'll get to be at a Supercar event and want to go all out (Now live in the UK) but those Pit Walks are timed specifically. I ask because there is simply no information about this topic anywhere nor is there the option to buy a pit pass.

I went to the 2014 GC 600 and have been to a few races at Queensland Raceway for comparison.

To my knowledge, the scheduled pit walks are the only way into the pits. The lane is very tight at the GC so I believe they are limited by capacity and space. There is no garage area as such, it's all the working pit lane. The positive is that you end up very close to the cars.

This is a contrast to QR which has open access to the garage area (for pass holders) but no access to the lane.

I'm still confused why everyone sits on pit road and then goes out at once creating a massive traffic issue. I'd be out there on a clear track clicking off laps while everyone is sitting on pit road twiddles their thumbs.

Yeah, Bright did that and it showed. P7.

Good qualy though. Almost six Fords top 6.
Simona was right behind Todd, but shame she has to start last. Three stops should be the way to go.

Because if you go out earlier you risk running into everyone doing their outlaps while you're on a flier, which would kill your lap.

Seems like going out with all the traffic isn't much better. If you time it right, you can make it work.

Do teams have enough tyres for a 3 stop?
Four sets for the weekend. From yesterday, teams only did one stop.

I can't see a team doing 2 stops if they went 23-28 laps on a set.

Maybe stops at 23, 46, 69.

Stopping at 28, 56 and then 27 laps to the end. I don't know.

Impressive showing from the Falcons again, but disappointing that we haven't really seen any teams outside the top three challenge for wins yet. Would love to see BJR setting the pace at Winton.

Reynolds gets a 5 spot grid penalty for impeding Dale Wood. Was another close one.

Slightly awkward when the car you impede is your teammate...

You might want to change that. They supposedly "kissed and made up." :sly:
Yeah, I'm sure Reynolds is full of love for Wood having cost him 5 grid spots.
What they tell the media is one thing but, I'll bet his privately seething & pretty pissed off.

Is he starting behind Wood? He better not be compromised by a SC if he is :banghead:

Lowndes looks done.

Wood is behind Reynolds.

At least Simona got her spot back.

Edit: Brabham is passing cars. I don't know if he pitted though.

If Nissan keeps having weekends like this, there won't be any reason to plan for 2019.

Helps that the person behind the wheel is such a humble, likeable guy who actually has personality.
Yeah, I don't know how I'd feel if it were van Gisbergen or Rick Kelly in #17.

Lowndes did really well, dead stinking last to 8th, and that was with the little hiccup he had early on. :D

Also, great to see no safety cars or retirements! Great race!
