Townsville and Darwin are going to be awesome races. More turns and fast straights. Can't wait.

Next up is Winton in a couple of weeks. Also the final race before a month long break. Meh.

I forgot about Winton, it's that boring. Although it is better than Queensland Raceway.
The Bend and Circuit Italia can't come soon enough.

Speaking of races, this memory popped up on my facebook today.

4 years ago. *sigh* :(

If DRJTP continue to have success, they'd be mad not to export it to the States. Although it might be a little difficult, what with new circuits being built at Tailem Bend, Italia Road and Bathurst. If they all want a round, the calendar will get cluttered.

They can pass on the Sydney round and head stateside.

If they can't make Albert Park a championship round, it could free up a weekend; the calendar would have to be assembled in such a way to avoid a clash with the Grand Prix.

Sandown's days appear to be numbered, even with the recent contract extension. Another event would need to step up as the 500; I imagine Phillip Island would to keep an enduro in Victoria and the circuit has tge facilities (although I wouldn't say no to a New Zealand enduro, but might require an extension to Pukekohe or moving the round to Hampton Downs or Highlands).

QR talked up the idea of an extension, and they seemed to be pinning their future on it, but it seems to have stalled. I don't think anyone would miss the Paperclip if it fell off the calendar, even if it meant the only Queensland races were on street circuits.

If the second Bathurst circuit happens, I think they would be hard-pressed to justify four rounds in New South Wales when Queensland and Victoria only get two (assuming Sandown and QR disappear) - even if Bathurst is sacrosanct. I'm concerned that Newcastle could go the same way as Canberra and be too narrow.

Anywhere is more interesting than the paperclip.

The problem is that they weren't given much land to work with in the first place, so they had to do as much as possible with as little as possible.

Just happy to see Scotty win for DJRTP. Five way fight in the championship is quite nice.

Why the hate for Winton? I think it puts on great races and always has!

It definitely needs a facility upgrade. It really does feel like you're back in the 70s when you're there and I don't mean that in a cool retro flashback way.

They could do Highlands during the Grand Prix and shoot back to Taz. Or do The Bend after Adelaide.

They could head over to the USA after Perth(scrap Winton and have a break-to watch the Indy 500 as well) and come back beginning of June.

I feel Newcastle is going to stay. The same way Monaco is still on the Grand Prix calendar. The racing will be fine. We see passing at Surfers.
It's going to be an epic event and definitely make Newcastle good money.

You have to wonder why he stayed year in and year out.

Because they could have gave him a championship, but yeah after the crap before his accident, you'd think he'd have thought long and hard before signing for 16 and 17'

Wouldn't be a problem with all the Support categories using it. Also helps cara that go off. They'll be able pit and change tyres, than have to do another lap and spew dirt all over Turn 1.

I'm not talking about the pits on the other side of the straight. There's a secondary entrance to their current pit road that exits off the straight to the right before the last turn.

That'd be the safer option now wouldn't it.
Maybe someone at Supercars HQ will find a clue & it'll happen in time for next year or is that optimism

According to the article it needs FIA approval or something.

Maybe I'm wrong but, I would've thought the alternative pitlane entry was signed off when the entire circuit got the rubber stamp of approval.
Afterall, it is used for the support categories.

Sounds like the idiots are running the asylum again.

The latter option seems the more likely.

Also, thought that penalty for Rullo was a little harsh for spinning Lowndes. Courtney wasn't penalized for doing the same thing to Simona at Adelaide. Racing incident, imo.

Consistency from the Officials? Now that is funny.

I thought exactly the same about the Rullo/Lowndes incident, no indicator was the excuse used for no penalty last time, I didn't see Lowndes indicate this time.

Yes, I really should know better by now. The only thing the officials are consistent in, is being inconsistent.

Admittingly, I only saw a couple of replays of it on twitter because I wasn't watching the race but I saw no indication from Lowndes that he was going to pit either.
