Why is the gold time so ridiculously easy on this event? I just did a leisurely lap at still came out with plenty of time to spare on my first try.

That whole ''gold'' is ******** imo. Special for this one. I making the 🤬 lap in my life here and still making a 1:38.

I assume it's because they make these races for everyone, not just us, and to that end, old American cars are very tail-happy, and unruly, so it stands to reason they'd make the gold easier. At least that's my thoughts on it.

I picked a car I had never driven, guessed at a tune and ran a decent time in 10 laps, go figure. The Aliens will have fun with this one for sure, such a slippery track with this power/configuration/tires.

I know in this game they seem to feel terrible and unrealistic compared to real versions I've driven. The specs are off a ton for most as well. Showing a Camaro FR platform with the weight bias of an MR version.

But the GT40 is one of the best handling in the game...and reality. :)

Fun TT though, I just have to remember to brake early and not blow the turns. I was P200 an hour ago. There is more there.

All I can manage tonight is a 1:27.115. Been .15 ahead of Green entering the final sector but I always find a new way to screw up the final chicane. :(

+1. I took the GT40, with a terrible tune, did almost a complete 180 in the fast chicane after the start line, sideways in every corner, and still managed to beat it by 1.5s. This would have been a better challenge if they'd restricted it to FR cars.

written at 9.30 thursday bu was too busy to post

A couple of laps got me 1:38.7 with a 2D (375th at the time). Only to find all the top scores are using GT40's.

Although nic-owen73 suggested the ElCamino looked fun, so I might have a go at that.

Edit: He He. That El Camino is a bit of a laugh. Never had one before, so I grabbed one and painted it Matte Black, threw a 450 tune on it plus a load of parts to get it up to 550. Spent the next 10 minutes dragging it out of the ditches 'til I could make it controllable enough for a Silver.
Will look up a proven 550 tune and have another go.

Here is the GT40 Anniversary Edition tune as mentioned above.

Ford GT40 Mark I 15th Anniversary Edition '66

Originally tuned on SS tyres but I am told in my garage that it works very well with SH tyres as well. This has been getting some pretty good times so far.

Yep, that is the tune I used too.

To make it easier for others to see the tune, here is the tune without quotes.

Used this without the ballast and dropped the power limiter.
Managed to get around the corners before its 'fat booty' hit me in the face for a 1m30.6.
Its a bit lively 👍

tune (or rather tips) for the GT40:

it's a basic tune but there it is:
(front_rear)
height: 95_95
spring: 5.70_7,93
damper: 1_1
// // : 1_1
ARB: 5_5
camber: who needs this?
toe: 0.00_0.05 (0.10 rear for DS3)
racing brakes: 4_4 (or stock to 5_5 works too)

LSD: 5/10/5 , triple clutch...
GB: set the speed to 200, 6th to right, set final gear to 2,100, 1st 4,574, 2nd 3,041, 3rd 2,422 4th 1,978 5th 1,639
full weight reduction, 994kg
engine upgrade: ECU and all exhaust upgrades (racing exhaust, etc...) limiter to 93,7%
rear wing installed (aero 50_120)

to drive it you can't push it in corner entries or you'll be... "in difficulties :P", but it has decent grip tho, so you need to be gentle and don't brake too late to let the tires in a good mood for good corner speed and clean exit.
