IMPORTANT INFO

1. Sorry for the lack of update guys im away this week for a business trip glad to see everyone throwing ideas out there 👍 I wont be back in time to host the race Sunday so our back up host Ricky will have to host. Please confirm with us that you can host the race Sunday if not someone else needs too step up to the plate.

2. If you guys can throw me some lap times you guys are doing at Daytona Oval course before Friday then I will determine how many laps will be done at Daytona.

3. For 1 race this season we will try rolling start after a parade lap. This will happen at the Monaco race. Depending on how it goes we will decide if we should implement it in Season 2. The pole sitter will keep the pace at 100km/h and everyone will fallow. Race starts at the exit of the last corner. NO PASSING ON THE FIRST CORNER.

4. If you have been registered in the series since the start and have completed 2 or less races you will be removed from the series to give room for the reserve racers

5.Something I want to implement in the future is - Elect 3 members to be race stewards. At the end of the race these 3 members will need to save the race replay. Racers will have 24hrs to report an Intentional Race Incident. The stewards will have authority to penalize races points. Just something iv been thinking about to help the series out.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS TOGETHER WE WILL EVOLVE THIS SERIES INTO SOMETHING GREAT. YOUR HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AT DAYTONA

Lap times under 50 :sly:

right. I did it around 30 the first time I drove my X1. haha.

Francone, if you are serious about the Steward thing, I would be down to review races afterwards. I can take a ton of pictures at the same time. Its a win/win.

Ill also have an average lap time for you tonight, ill PM it to ya.

I see problems with this, especially at Monaco, it may work at a track like Daytona. I'm not sure what you mean by "race starts at exit of last corner", that's a long way from the starting line at Monaco. Will we be in single file, or side by side on parade lap? If the race starts at exit of last corner, there will be a lot of passing before first corner, how can we say no passing on corner?

It's up to you, and I don't think anyone got hurt more by that first corner at Monza than I did (first to last), but I have serious reservations about this.

Oh well.... I'll just be glad to get Daytona over with, I'm really dreading running it and that SS stage 7 track. :scared:

I have reservations about the parade lap thing too, but it wouldn't hurt to try it. It seems like this series is evolving to try and find that 'sweet spot' that keeps everyone on a level playing field, while keeping it fun at the same time.

The only way to do this is trial and error. So, I'm all for trying different things while we look for the best set of rules and regulations.

ricky7789 - I've added you as a friend on here. I will add you on PSN tonight.

EDIT: I also noticed that there are about half a dozen drivers registered that DNS the first two races. Are these places up for grabs? I have a friend that is pretty close in lap times to me. I have sent him a message about this series to see if he would like to participate as my team-mate. I hope that is ok.

Agreed on starting spot for Monaco, it should be go on start/finish line. That last corner is screwy enough, leaves room for someone to jump the gun and mess it up/ a lot of room before corner so not passing would be more difficult. The best way to prevent passing on the 1st would to be go single file after the “start.” That should allow a nice flow up to the first corner, and after that all bets are off. Hey just like an F1 race winning Monaco will probably be all up to qualifying. There isn’t many good spots to overtake there, but is still a complete blast to drive. Im cool with that, because Im probably the slowest one, haha.

Monaco should be awesome. It's so technical. Long races on tracks like those makes for sore fingers (controller cramps). :-)

Lap times around late 40's 47-49. I'm in for trial and error but still not in favor of parade lap. Anyone been in any races with penalties on?

Yea, I have. Penalties, I find, are kind of hit and miss. Sometimes they make complete sense, but at other times they don't. For example, if you ram someone off the track, you get a penalty...fair enough. However, I've had instances where I made a mistake going into a turn with no other car in sight, and I go off track by myself (costing myself time) and then I'm hit with a penalty when I get back on the track!

If we are thinking of implementing penalties, my vote would be that they should be set to low or mild or whatever it is called.

imagine a parade lap @ SS7!!!!! lol longest drive of my life

Penalties are hit and miss. I have been in a lot of rooms where they have been in use and I have seen the ups and downs. Ramming and cutting the track are penalized pretty well. However I have been penalized when another driver causes a wreck that I have no way of avoiding. Also when another driver pushes me off the track and I end up with a shortcut penalty.

Sorry for the confusion guys. When I said race starts at exit of last corner I wanted to say you can get up to racing speeds after the exit of the last corner but no passing until the 1st corner. Im in favor of a standing start and no passing on first corner but I notice a lot of you guys throwing parade laps and rolling starts out there so I thought we could give it a try for one race.

Has for Daytona....35 Laps..........Wish I didnt have to miss this race. Good luck to everyone!!

Please add rynedee as my team mate. He is a GTP member too, and wants in on this.

as i am goin to be hosting the race sun. i want to do a test room first, as i have had problems with a few of you trying to join in my rooms before. i hosted before just playing around and had no prob gettin a full room. but i just need to make sure everything is still on the up and up. throw some times up when a few of us can get together in a room.

I will be available to go online to test it out today if you want. Times would be 15:00-23:00 PST or tomorrow about the same time. Let me know.

for peoples opinions (thinking of creating a series as well, not trying to stir the pot francone, and i don't plan on leaving this series either) on an oval courses do you think there should be a mandatory pit stop? to make things interesting? make it sumwhat slightly like nascar?

I think oval tracks should be in their own series, unless you are just into them, they are not much fun.

I don't think in 35 laps on Daytona it would need to be mandatory, because it will be necessary lol. Well unless you are using "racing hard" tires and staying on the high line and never spin out. In my opinion 1 pit stop will be necessary for anyone who is running the "TQ" pace.

If we are all running close, it'll be fun. But the guy 20 seconds behind all by himself...that sucks. At least this won't take the mental focus as the other tracks require, or physical for that matter. It is football Sunday, obligatory beer is required...or two:)

i agree, but I am down for anything and will gladly run this race. It just seems to easy to drive in a circle, even with other people. I guess we are missing the G forces and such, so only real NASCAR fans can really get into it.

Last night I ran the Indy 500, and let me tell you. I am sick of circles. At least with the x1 its over in around 2 hours. It will make this weeks race feel like a cake walk.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Is there anyway to get confirmation of whether my team mate and I will get to participate for sure? I dont want to spend my credits and time on testing if the grid is full already.

2. What kinds of lap times are you guys running on this track just out of curiosity? I just began testing with a car I already had to see what it was like, and I did a best of 50.820 in 10 laps.

1) sorry don't know, although my teamate has yet to make an apperence...not sure if he said he is still in or not

2) low 48's & high 47's

I looked at the first thread that was made by Whisky_River, and people are still posting on there wanting to race. If we do get more than 16 show up, we should do what some of the more popular series are doing and have qualifying followed by tiered racing. Division 1 and Division 2. I know it is still early days, but it is something to think about.

Hmmm so I am a couple of seconds off the pace. My car was about 1350kg and I cant make it any lighter. Will have to try a lighter car.

with my current tune on my GT-R I can get 47 on the nose.

I thought the same way as you guys about the oval tracks. Then my friend got me into it and its kinda fun. Don't get me wrong road racing is where its at! But I also have fun doing some NASCAR with friends. The skill set is way different, this coming race will be about holding your line to prevent crashes and drafting. If you have a car that can keep up then its anyone's race. 47's are good times for our low powered cars, this is going to be a close race!

I have to get used to holding my line. I'm not very good at it. I cant even do the intermediate nascar special event (I use a controller). So I am apologizing in advance for any crashes that I may cause!!

same here running a controller thou getting a little better w/ the joystick on. have a wheel in the closet that i just cant get the hang of, might practice some w/ it tomorrow. as for my times i did get a few 46.5 with a lotus esprit, but with a a little tire wear she is useless. my rx-7 is down in the 46 range too. also have a grand sport vette i am liking. or maybe just he ol chrome gtr will be around late tonight. so if anyones is up for some laps
