YES! It can be done. I beat the TS030 with a 330 P4. Of course, it helped that he started in 4th place. My fastest lap was 1:43.472. This wasn't even my personal best as I did 9:09.729 earlier in the evening (but still lost). Perhaps Matsuda was taking pity on me.

I decided to do a test to see how much faster the AI will go if you bump one driver/car the whole race. The difference will probably shock you. I decided to bump W. Andersson who drives the Jaguar XJ13 and starts 11th in the races that I have run. Looking back at one one of my races that I posted, W. Andersson finished 11th with a total time of 10:21.304 and had a best lap of 1:57.756. In the race that I bumped him, he finished 3rd with a total time of 9:38.616 and had a best lap of 1:46.421. He ran over 11 seconds faster in one lap by bumping him and finished 8 spots higher in the standings by bumping him the whole race!

W. Andersson probably could win a race if you bump him the whole race... As long as he doesn't run off the track because he's going too fast, which he did twice and he still finished in 3rd place! I like that the AI reacts differently when you bump them.... But 11 seconds a lap faster is just plain silly.

Gday mate, I was wondering in which menu you can access the sector/ laps time and all race data like shown on your screenshot ?
Cheers mate
Ps the point you raise is quite interisting

You must save you Replay of your race, and then you can access the sector/ laps time and all race data when watching your replay and then go to Live Timing as seen in this picture below.

How is the 97 F1 GTR longtail? its the killer in the 650 class but at 600?
Works good. Stock everything, power reduced to 78.5%, little less aero (380/530) and the final gear moved to 3.400

Brakes are quite good. Get on the power a little early and it might bite ya but it's good overall. Nice drive.

I did this race about 10 times with the 2J, and it's pretty fun honestly. I'm sure I could wring an 8:44 out of it without much fuss, but I want to try the TS030.

Good time with the 2J , I can not wait and see how is goes with the TS030 in the field.

Had 2 close seconds last night, but just can't get over the line with the SLS AMG.
Seems to like a lot of downforce, but that kills it's speed being only 600pp.
maybe my gearing is wrong.

tips?

Try this tune below, I won by almost 30 seconds :).

I think this is the best car and tune for this race so far. Races perfectly in handling and speed.

I still think a 8:39 is possible in the 2J... If you bump the AI and gain drafting speed in the main straights because of the AI glitch that allows them to run faster than us "humans" can run. Maybe I'm wrong, but history tells me my best so far (8:50) is still a second or two or more slower a lap than the top tier, alien GT6 racers can run, which means a 8:39 is still somewhat attainable by a select few with the right field.

Yes, 8:39 is possible, and without any AI bumping. In fact, I'm certain I would have ran 8:37 a couple of times had I not run into lap traffic right at the end (R8).

I'm also leaving 3 seconds on the table for sure. The first lap should be 1:39, followed by 4 1:36's. As you can see by my times below, I didn't do so well. I feel like I'm personally capable of a 8:34, which means Cory will run an 8:29 .

Lap 1 = 1:41
Lap 2 = 1:36
Lap 3 = 1:38
Lap 4 = 1:37
Lap 5 = 1:37

Tried a few cars for competition.
Zonda LM - can't beat the R18.
Zonda R - never had a P car against it, so easy gold.
GT500 GTR - really close call against the R18. Lapping in the 1:44's gets you the gold, but even a one second slip up, and you're toast.

Hey @UltimateLurker I got close to your time, the one thing I hate when the AI get in my way on the corners so you got to go around them and you got to be careful not to touch them .

Exactly, that R8 LMS Ultra '12 is the only car I was able to lap, and it's right at the last tight chicane, lost 2 seconds to it twice. The last time I ran it I was ahead by just a bit so I could get around it ok, but had run a 1:41 and 1:38, so didn't do as well as I had wanted.

I have fond memories of the FTO from earlier versions of Gran Turismo, so I really wanted to win this. So I dusted off the sixaxis and got the fancar. I tuned the power down, added no ballast, moved the tranny down from max 217 (default is 205) to 180. Even so, I had to retry until none of the three rabbits: R18, TS030, Zonda R were in the field. Took the BMW McLaren F1 to get my FTO. I think my time was 9:12. The first three tries the R18 was in the field and turned in 9:06s.

urgh! setting please!!! gonna buy that car!

A bit of fine tunning on the 2J and the AI were in the right place at the right time.

I'm done @ 8:38 with my tune. The last time I tried I had a solid 8:35 going and the Vulcan moved right in my way at the last second and I lost it. I was literally sick. I ran a 1:39.1 as my first lap, and a couple of low 1:37's, and a couple of low 1:36's. I might try it with a different tune.

Getting the right field in the race makes a lot of difference to your time and where they are on the track also.
