Interesting. It’s in 1080p mode and is hovering around 31-32fps if I’m reading that correctly. I’m no expert but surely it’s going to look smoother if they either lock or cap it at 30fps right?

Depends on frame pacing. Looking at most streams the engine suffers from very inconsistent frame pacing/stutter.

Didn't they say that on Xbox One X was 4K?
Are there two different resolution modes?

It finally came evident that all the possible issues on frame rate and stuttering highlighted last week as concerns, became true once the copy arrives in users' hand.
There is no benefit for us as final consumers, if we always try to blindly defend a product which has some problems.

The other issue is about the gameplay via controller. In all videos I am checking it looks like driving with pad sticks is like driving with tapping the d-pad, as in the arcade racers in the 80s.

This is obviously due to the nature of the game, being based on wheel inputs, however I hope that an acceptable and more natural gameplay via joypad can be found tweaking the settings.

Otherwise will be ridiculous driving like this for at least 90% of the people buying this game.

Anyway, bit of a shame that a game with such potential is grounded by these issues, due to poor optimization or cheap porting.

It never drops below 30,if they could get it to 50 ,I would be happy.

I have it on the X,there is no different modes,it's just native 4k..

So is it really frame pacing that’s the issue then, not necessarily the framerate itself? Looks like it doesn’t ever dip below 30

What is frame pacing?

30fps is a frame every 33.3 milliseconds, this would make it nice and even.

so imagine we get 6 frames with the gaps: 33, 33, 33, 33, 33, 33. 198ms total, its low but consistent.

but what happens if we get 33, 33, 42, 42, 24, 24 ? same period of time (total), same number of frames but your eye will see a slowdown/speed up.

Its halfway to dropped frames because of the gaps vary so muych that you can't get your 30 frames across 1 second you end up dropping frames and thus have a fps dip.
