It is good. They've returned to the classic Ace Combat gameplay without any fancy additions. Graphics are great and planes have differences in the way they fly. Menus are simple and easy to navigate. It's almost as if the horrid AC:AH never happened..

Good to hear that they went back to good AC formula.

ace combats back, if they keep the AC4 campaign nods like well...lost butterfly is sitting ducks although no North point of Skyeye thats my only dissapointment so far hahahamthis might be the first F2P game i actually consider to be worth my time.

Day 2: Still can not locate demo.

Going under "PS3 Demos by Title", the only demo menu I can find, leads me to full games.
tried searching for it?

might be an EU only beta possibly not to sure i just got a text from a mate telling me there was a new aces game on the store good weee break from playing uncharted on the vita :P

I liked Assault Horizon...only because I was in the top 1000 leaderboards a long ass time ago XD Oh well, I hope they finish up Infinity soon, it looks great and it'll be nice to go back to basics!

While I am in CA, I m using my Euro account.. I'll check the US account if I can find it.

Edit: go to new>demos, and keep scrolling to the right, should be second last there.

ok, thanks for your reply

Ok I sounded a bit harsh there while readinging it back, didn't meant to be. ;)
I don't know how much levels/missions the Japanese beta had, but probably they only made 2 missions available for the EU/US beta for load testing purposes or what not .

Day 3: Found the beta. Must be the weekly PS Store update that comes on Tuesdays that did it. Should've thought of that.

I enjoyed it, it was pretty fun. Some of the voice acting was a little... meh. I feel the best part of the game is obviously going to be co-operative play, can't wait!

I'm not even sure if it's possible. I just did it for the first time a few minutes ago, and wow. Apparently no one knew what they were doing and I managed to take out 2 of the frigate ships. I think everyone was focusing on the swarming enemies. It was pretty pesky with missile lock-ons blaring at you every second with at least 3 heading towards you.

I just wonder if some guys have managed to do it in the given time. I did all I could with just one set of air to air missiles. Craziness.

@Leonidae@MFT I will surely help you out, but of course we need to gather up some people who know what they're doing. I'm ready for this challenge.

I'd hate to try taking down Moby Dick down alone.. :P

Meh, I took on Grabarc in that one mission AND evaded the missiles on expert just because I got fed up with flying away in AC5 so I'll probably do it just out of having a challenge.

Did it have 3 large escorts + fighters + cruise missiles etc as well?

There is one extra mission, Hunting Moby Dick, which would be that huge flying fortress and pals..

Was lucky enough to be in a room that had someone with the contract which brings up that mission and it was AWESOME. It's a nice change from the Tokyo and oil fields mission grinding but the amount of times I got shot down by those flying airfields was hilarious

You definitely need the best planes you can get in the demo before you activate the contract yourself so as not to waste it when you're just beginning online play.

Nah, just the usual above average Aces and Annoying random missiles. But if I could dodge Non-stop missile lock with no DFM AND do so with Pre-ACAH physics, why not? :P

So... I managed to take it down. I'm not sure how much the other players did but they didn't seem to do much beyond taking out the turrets on it, which really a majority was my doing anyways. It was a grueling battle that was won in the very last second, and I mean, it said the battle was over (and lost) than it changed up the HUD read outs and congratulated us for winning. So intense.

Downloading this now.I was a massive fan of AC Unsung War (I think that is what it was called) on the PS2. I also tried the demo of AC:AH but I didn't like it at all.
I hope this plays like the former 👍

Hopefully a warm reception means a new release on the PS4/Xbox One.

Graphically it would be immense. Assault Horizon was just terrible with the chopper and realistic setting.

Did you receive a special call-sign after (tropical vibe, irregulars, second lieutenant, etc.)?

Played alittle bit of the beta last night, absolutely loved it. That game just radiated the AC of old for me, from the color of the menus to the music itself. I definitely like where this game is going 👍

A step in the right direction for the franchise for sure. The "High-G" turn effect they have when you use the brakes is still arcade-ey though, almost as if they wanted to keep some remnants of their less loved games like A.H. and F.O.L. I hope they have an option to turn this off in the full release if they don't take it away completely.

Played the two single player missions and played 2 multi player missions yesterday, must say it's nice to see that they implemented new functions and maintained the old AC feel, in comparison to AC:AH it's good to see they are back on track.
Loved how the background music in the briefing screen is still the same.

The data link option is also a nice addition as I went looking for team mates more than once.
Must say after not playing AC for a while the multi player missions were quite hectic and nearly got my plane completely destroyed in both missions.
