If this is a voting matter I vote for allowing all tires, but as always it goes to the majority.

Plus I think hards will lead to more accidents, not fewer (which I just saw TK already said). If we're missing braking points it takes that much longer to stop.

Well I think if you go slower and turn less hard the tire will skid less and wear slower thus advantageous to softs. People try to push hards as much as softs and they get bad results.

That's just my theory lol.

If it means anything I vote for heavy damage!
Heavy 3+1
Light 0

Oh, and, there is no difference in longevity between the different tire compounds. Racing softs last just as long as racing hards... Racing hards just have less grip.

Are you sure? Because I always take soft compounds on other tournament races and I seem to need to pit quicker than anyone else. Am I just bad at tire conservation? Or do softs really last a shorter time?

I respect your opinion greatly, but I was under the impression, due to the tuning shop in GT Mode in GT5, that what I said was true (it says it under tire options).

That is true, but that is not my point. My point is that if we are racing for more than an hour, softs won't last. I agree with Rich77 - his "theory" is what I believe in. Likewise, it will be just as prudent to not have any pit stops and race on mediums, but if you race on hards, which are considerably faster, you'll be wasting a lot of time in the pits.

Keep in mind tho guys this is a Le Mans series, not a GT sprint series so endurance is favored, so hards might actually be better.

Sure, if a driver wants to use hards it could be a strategy move. But to force it on everyone? Especially when some of us are apparently already all over the track. It might be equivalent to putting those drivers on ice :)

EDIT: from ALMS website, LMPs are running:
Racing slicks (ungrooved); grooved in rain

Maybe do tires "unlimited?" That way, it won't force others to follow specific strategies, which kind of defeats the point of "strategy", but people can do what they won't for strategy.

I was in a NASCAR series awhile ago and we learned pretty quick that racing hards and racing softs last just as long. Kind of a bummer if u ask me. There are also a few threads on the subject around.

Personally, I like having tire wear "on." adds a little bit more drama to the race.

From what Ive read on the forums, harder tires do not mean longer life. Just reduced grip.

Oh and gatrs, Ill be making the jump to lmp with the regular R10. Audi only sent one stealth model to the shop :(.

Main reason is the field always seems so small. Can I add stage 3 turbo because I obly have 5 gears? Haha

If your racing in ovals, and it depends on the car, I noticed tires can remain good, I did a 50 lapper at Daytona a while ago with an F430 Scuderia with racing softs, (maybe not) but I went those whole 50 laps without pitting, or 40 laps, it was a while ago.

I think pitting adds more strategy and fun to the race

This may sound ignorant but do we actually have to have the car WE PICKED in our personal garage? Or will the online room give it to us? I don't have the Sauber C9, which is what I wanted to race. I would like some clarification on this matter.

You can't tune the cars you find in the online garage, plus it likely doesn't have anything but premiums.

I think the Sauber is available in the online UCD right now, but I don't remember for sure.

OK, but I don't have the credits. So...

CHANGE OF PLANS!

Let me re-do my entry, please.

GTP: sugarglider661
PSN: neptune35
Car: Lamborghini Gallardo
Teammate: (Whoever is available)

Is there any PROOF to their times? Maybe they are just making it up. :D

I cannot get below 3:50 in the Lambo's specs according to the first page!!! AARGH!

Mitch will get mad if I release my times. He yelled at me in front of the whole garage. Somehow got me to admit that I was wrong on everything. :(

Pretty sure its faster than 3:50...OMG I've already said too much!

Where are we racing? Le Mans or Daytona Road Course? Or Monza again?

Oh and Gogatrs, I downloaded Truth In 24 on my iPod, thanks for mentioning it and mentioning it was free on iTunes, it was a GREAT movie! Thanks 👍

The movie is honestly up there as one of the best racing movies of all time. Its definitely one of my favorites. I always get a little choked up at the end though. I watch it all the time.

I watched like 5 minutes of it this morning, then finished it about a half hour ago it was really good, it really shows how much trouble and how much progress can be lost so fast with the teams and Le Mans, great movie
