Thanks guys for the anwser. So I just have to buy PURE Edition and the Dongle USB thingy.

How about the Buttons? On the pictures, I see Xbox buttons, I somewhere hear they change from Xbox to PlayStation buttons once you swich consoles. Is it true?

True! On PC we have no more illumination anymore but you need to make custom mapping anyway.

I already have a very good wheel, but... I just noticed that Fanatec is online right now, and viewing this thread, so I would like to take this opportunity and ask Fanatec/Thomas: Are you still looking for beta testers? If so, I would be more than willing to offer my services as a U.S. based PS3 beta tester for one of your wheels :sly: (or other products).

I think I would be a good beta tester for you because I have used a Logitech DFGT and am currently using a Logitech G25, so I could offer a valuable comparison between those wheels and the Fanatec line of wheels. Also, I am a decent driver, so I could offer some constructive feedback on how the wheel effects the overall driving experience in GT5P--or any other PS3 games that are compatible with Fanatec wheels.

I know, this is a shameless attempt on my part, but why not? If you don't ask you will never know. Maybe Fanatec is looking to round out their roster of beta testers :D

Of course, this will probably never happen but, who knows :dopey:

Thomas, can you reveal some information about Fanatec's motion sim? The one that will work in combination with the RennSport cockpit.

;)

Hey Carl, you may have a better chance of getting a response if you post your inquiry over on 911wheel.com blog 👍 Good luck bro :)

I'd also like to hear more about the motion sim, although the price range sounds a bit too steep though. :( It's hard for most people to justify spending 10-15K on a motion sim in the current economic climate :nervous:

drift mode is pretty much more power steering :)

Thank you. That's about what I was expecting. I imagine it allows the wheel to spin back to center faster? Making drifting easier?

;)

yeah pretty much. it would be cool if GT5 automatically used this so we could feel the difference between cars that have power steering and some that don't :p.

wirelessness does not make much differense in terms of lag. Radio waves go still speed of light as does electricity. The most important lag is related to tv. Some new samsungs have about 90 ms of input lag and philips may be the worst. Use the game mode if your tv has one to skip on processing and improve response time. Best top end LCD in europe for gamers is sony z4500 and will still be after new z5500 is released.

Theory and reality is not always the same thing sadly. But as mentioned non issue here.
As for monitors sharp and JVC have some models too. And if you skip the TVs there is lcd monitors with virtually no input lag. My G2400W was supposed to even have negative input lag compared to some crt according to behardware or what it was. But I measured it to 10-24 ms approx compared to my CRT. My old Sony LCD TV is pretty bad though as many S-PVA panels are.

It is too early to announce it but we have a fully working prototype in our office and it is great fun. We will probably announce it at the Gamescon

The difference between wireless and cable is 11 m/s versus 8 m/s. It is impossible for humans to notice a 3 m/s delay.

But I agree that something was wrong with the show demo. I tested the full version behind closed doors and this version did not have that delay.

We are always looking for beta testers. Please register at 911wheel.com and fill out the test registration form afterwards.

You never know... ;)

Fanatec:

Please refrain from double (or triple in this case) posting. If no one has posted since your last post, please edit your post with any other questions/responses.

Thank you

Fanatec:

I ordered a Turbo S Clubsport Edition and I was wondering if I would have any problem installing it on my playseat evolution. What's the length of the cable from the shifter to the wheel? Will I be able to fix the shifter to the side of the seat instead of the wheel (like the G25), do I need to buy a longer cable? And for the pedals the playseat evolution has a banked platform so the pedals are in a vertical position, will the club sport pedals get that 90 degree position or will it be too much? ( I hope I'm making myself understood)

For playseat and other cockpits I recommend to buy the extra long pedal cable which will also work with the shifters and to get the RennSport Wheel Stand Shifter Adapter. Then you can mount the shifters beside the seat.

Can you clarify: is this the pedal cable you are referring to? Are they available for shipping in the US?Canada immediately? How does it connect with the G25 pedals?

Also: I cannot seem to find the wheel shifter adapter listed anywhere on your website. What exactly is it, how much is it?

Finally, is it required to have Vista OS in order to download the drivers required for the RS wheel.? Does it work with XP?

Thank you!

Hi Fanatec,

Can you tell us what you can about the motion cockpit you guys are working on? Like how far along are you, what price point will it release? Will it be console based pc, or both?

I'm buying two shifter adapters to mount into my cockpit. One for the sequential unit, for rally/touring car games (higher, and nearer to wheel), and one for the H-Gate shifter (down low and to the right/left like a standard car).

Yes, that is the cable that will work for the shifter or the pedals. Not sure about them being compatible with the G25 pedals. Someone else will have to confirm that.

;)

That cable isn't it a normal ps/2 cable? If it is then we can find it easily in an electronics shop.

Edit: Not that I want to ruin Fanatec's business, it's just that if I find I need a longer cable I find it easier to go to a shop instead of waiting for the cable to arrive (the waiting kills me....)

The "Porsche Wheel Pedal Cable 2.5" is not compatible to the G25. You need another adapter cable which will be offered soon.
It should work with any standard PS/2 cable as well but of course we cannot guarantee it.

You find the "RennSport Wheel Stand shifter adapter for Porsche Wheels and G25" under accessories.

Our drivers work fine with Vista and XP and both 32 and 64 bit.

Hope that helps

I have a question for those (or Thomas) who have updated your CSP firmware. I have already gotten the increased sensitivity/response from the new firmware (which is great!) but was wondering how you're supposed to load/select the desired deadzone travel file? In the PW update instructions it states: "Select one of the following files: csp_usb_1vXX-DZx.dld - DZ stands for Dead Zone. The larger the value the larger the dead zone."

Anyways, can someone please elaborate on how to select the DZ file as well as getting it to upload to the CSP's? I don't see how simply clicking/selecting the DZ file is going to upload the setting to the CSP's. If I get the deadzone dialed in I think I'll be able to knock off a few tenths at 750 Suzuka, so any advice would be greatly appreciated 👍 Thanks :)

you must use the supplied boot loader. Follow the instructions to the letter :).

I have another question the old 911 turbo with the older pedals worked fine with midnight club LA. But with the RS it just doesn´t find my pedals. It only finds my wheel if I enable the compability mode while sitting in the cockpit.

Would somebody be kind enough to give precise instructions on what needs to be downloaded in order to update the RS wheel drivers & how exactly to do it?

I will have a short window of opportunity to do this, when I visit my friend with a PC, so I don't want to mess it up, & it sounds like some people have experienced problems. :nervous:

Thank you!

Hello
Just fallow this link
http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/1959
Download either 32 version or 64
Make sure there is no other Fanatec driver version on your PC.
It's easy to install once you DL it, Just click NEXT and what not, WHEEL has to be unplugged I think. I think it should state so as well. Once you install, plu in wheel, click on Porsche Wheel Icon, and you can configure the wheel. There might be shifter problem with your wheel, if you need help, there was a post earlier in this thread how to fix it.

There you can set degree of the wheel, etc.. Wheel will work with any PC game (that supports force feedback) In that folder there is an rFactor Plugin, ( throw that file to rFactor Plugins) But the rFactor Plugin won't work for me, don't worry about it if it wont work for you.

At first glance, seems like pages of people having a variety of problems. Not very reassuring....

Yeah, usually with 64 version, I have Vista 32, I have no problems except rFactor Plugin wont work..

Its still a Beta FINAL or a TRUE patch should be out soon.

Got it working in Midnight Club LA now. Not really sure what is the required step to make it work very finicky. Just wonder why they changed lowest steering degree 180 to 210. Works good with this but some arcade racers like sega rally revo you would want something like 70. Would be really nice to be able to manually set this also for consoles.

Seriously?

I have always found 180 waaaaayyyy too small a ratio for any game type. I even sold a DFP right after buying it when I realized the steering locked at 180 degrees, instead of the 270 degree I was expecting. 270 degree is the limit from my perspective. I probably won't ever use the 210 setting, rather sticking to the 360, 540, 900 settings.

;)

DFP only 180 or 900?

In arcade racers 210 can often be way to much for the responsive steering. Since they are built for going lock to lock with no loss in traction. A gamepad never has more then 180 and for many arcade racers you want to mimic the gamepad as much as possible.

Has anyone heard of any pre-production 911 turbo s wheels going out yet for testing? I figured some people would have at least been told they were on the way by now. I have yet to receive any info about getting my test unit.
