Hmmm, I just realized that I didn't get all of my parts with my shift adapter. I ordered the item you linked above, but I only rec'd the black anodized aluminum plate not pictured above and the two bars. No mounting hardware or that black thing the bars insert to, which is kind of critical...

Well, the wheel is supposed to come tomorrow so we'll see if it's in there but I'd be surprised if it is. When you guys are contacting them how are you doing it? Through the "contact us" in their webshop or is there a super secret email addy I should use?

Thanks all!

If you have UPS tracking, you know when wheel arrives.
Fanatec posted some setting suggestion for GT5: Demo which reduces shaking on the straights. (conslut 911wheel.com)

GT5: Demo FFB is clearly broken, reasons:
-You have to reduce FFB to fight specific FFB effect(shaking on the straights)
-There is no FFB info about understeer; wheel does not become light
-There is no really any indication from when grip limit in is reached.
-In other games you can feel the grip and when there is no grip(LFS, Forza 3 etc..)

I would like that fanatec would adress these issues to PD as normal user is very hard to make contact with developers.

You should have received the black anodized plate (For Rennsport Wheelstand/G25), the 2 black bars, the adapter itself that the bars insert into, and hardware.

I have been emailing both Thomas and Armin directly, but I'm not at liberty to divulge their address. :nervous:

But the FFB is broke in the Logitech wheels too, right?

If so, there's nothing Fanatec can do about it. If Kaz thinks the FFB is right then it's right, end of history. :indiff:

Man, it's hard to love GT. The game has amazing graphics (the Enzo Ferrari model is unbelievable) and now have pretty decent physics too, but the FFB really hurts my enjoyment.

Nope.

The adapter is actually for the Fanatec shifters, but can be used without the extra metal piece if you want to use a G25 shifter.

I thought it was going to be something so you can clamp it to a desk rather then have to bolt it down. It looks exactly the same as on the clubsport table clamp?

As for GT 5 well at least they improved the force feedback somewhat with the GT 5 demo. But with all my force feedback testing it stinks for consoles in general :(... Obviously wheel support is an after thought for the developers. Can only hope for Race Pro 2 I suppose to get equal ffb as you get on PC

There is nothing available to "clamp" the shifters. This is the only option available from Fanatec to mount the shifters anywhere besides the useless "chopsticks" provided with the wheel. Furthermore, the shifter adapter is not marketed towards such use. Fanatec seems to fall short when it comes to marketing, and customer service.

I must say, I own Race Pro (As well as GTr2/GTR Evo/GTL/etc...) and I am not with you on the FFB department. I found Race Pro to fall short in just about every way, including the FFB. Very notchy, and loses FFB regularly for no reason with every wheel I've tried. In my opinion, Race Pro was the biggest dissapointment (in regards to "sim games"), for me, of the year. I struggle to find anything good about it, especially when put up against it's PC brethren (GTL/GTR2/GTR Evo).

I sure wish they would have included both the paddle shifter options (like was originally promissed). The short little black paddles work ok, but something a bit "meatier" would be appreciated. I was hoping for the older, bigger, silver paddles to be included.

G25 and DFGT are reported to work 100% without shaking. G27 does have same issue as fanatec wheels. I would wait for GT5 to come out figure out which wheels works best before buying.
I already have turbo S, so i do not have real choice any more. I am still confident that fanatec and G27 issues are fixed but there has to be pressure from wheel makers to make PD knows there are issues with some wheels and general FFB grip info is quite non existent.

Have you had problems with your shifter sliding off of the bars. I had to duct tape mine to get it so it wouldn't move going into 3rd gear. My shifter sets fairly loose on the bars for some reason and I haven't seen any way to tighten it.

You didn´t really read my reply very well there. I mentioned the force feedback stinks on every console title including Race Pro compared to the PC variations.

Race Pro with the Turbo S wheel despite pretty much non telling force feedback surely has the best physics and driving experience of all console titles I tried so far if you are looking for realism. Forza 3 is tons of fun but not quite as real in the physics department. So in that relationship it´s not that bad even though it feels unfinished with it´s presentation and doesn´t run 100 % smooth, doesn´t impress visually and have all kind of sound bugs. But if you concentrate on the cars and their behaviour better then Forza 3 and GT 5 for sure. A bit pointless if you already run the superior PC variations though.

As for support well Fanatec have the clubsport table clamps which I use for the shifters. The position is really nice but would be nice with more freedom where to place it. So a clamp and shifter holder to mount them separately is the only thing missing really. the Clubsport shifter will hopefully allow that. Hopefully a dedicated H-pattern shifter because the position is about right for a sequential as it´s.

As for paddle shifters I did get the old ones on the RS as an option. They didn´t work. The new black paddles worked a bit better but still they got in the way. I have now fixed them by sawing down the top part so they are never in the way now and I still get the nice feel of the metal.

The original paddles looks nice but it´s pointless if they are in the way when you use them.

There are two allen head screws that you tighten to secure the bars. They shouldn't move at all if tightened. Mine is rock solid.

I read your post just fine, I just don't agree.

I find the physics in that game to have many flaws that make it LESS realistic than GT5's (yet unfinished) physics model. I have always wondered what you were on about in regards to your praise of Race Pro. I just don't get it.

The Clubsport Table Clamp is fine for the sequential shifter (placement), but not for the H-Gate. At least not in my opinion. A Clubsport H-Gate shifter would be fantastic, as the standard shifter, while good, can be a little tricky when going through the gears quickly.

The new black paddles got in the way? Of what? Mine are definitely not in the way of anything. They're practically non existant. My fingers aren't anywhere near them unless I'm using them. Do you fancy selling your silver paddles? I'd love to at least try them out.

Oqvist, have you tried Ferrari challenge on the ps3. It probably has the best FF of all the consoles games. It's physics are pretty good too. The problem I have with race pro is the center deadzone. I never could get rid of it enough to enjoy the game. I was always battling trying to get my car to go straight, constantly moving the wheel left and right while going down the straights trying to correct the car. It' kind of the exact opposite of GT5 where the FF wants to pull you left and right. With race pro I was always pulling left and right trying to go straight.

I thought that the turbo s would correct it, that maybe it was because of the microsoft wheel, but after about 5 minutes with the turbo wheel I gave up. If you have some in game settings I would love to know what they are. I really, really wanted to like the game, and if I could get rid of that huge deadzone I would probably give the game another go.

I complained about the force feedback on the race pro and you say you didn´t agree on the ffb and then say the force feedback was bad for example :)"

Never had any centering issues with Race Pro or big deadzone? Maybe they patched it lately I pretty much ignored the game when on gamepad. Steering was very stable and better then on GT 5 and Forza 3 for example so I did find it working quite well.

As for the shifters with my 9-3 grip they do get in the way particularly when rallying. My pointing fingers get stuck in between them and the wheel from time to time.

I could send the aluminium ones if you pay the postage fee. But must see if I can find them first :)

I was a bit bummed about not getting a demo for Ferrari Challenge. It hasn´t interested me enough to buy it unseen and it´s still quite expensive!

You said, Race Pro had the BEST physics on any CONSOLE game. I am just saying, I find it to be among the worst on CONSOLE. (I agree about the almost "non-telling FFB")It goes without saying, PC games tend to have better FFB (and physics), especially with all the adjustability not present in console sim titles.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. It's like we played two different games.

9-3 grip? do you mean the GT3-RS wheel? I have wondered how different the wheel rim is from the GT3-RS to the Turbo S, besides the material of course.

I will indeed pay the postage, so if you can find them, send me a PM and we'll do business. 👍

Alcantara vs leather as you say. Leather feels more luxurious and softer but the Alcantara offer better grip and is what hardcore simracers probably preferr in the long run I would imagine. Cruisers will go for the leather though. GT 3 RS also have thumb groove which helps some with the grip too. Feels about the same thickness where I grip it to me. The pressure on your thumb while turning seem to make it easier to feel how much I turn the wheel or it´s the racing stripe that helps subcionsciously.

Interesting. I would love to take the wheel off of the GT3-RS, and transplant it onto the Turbo S. Alcantara and a yellow stripe... I'm sold.

Any luck finding those silver paddles?

;)

yellow stripe is easilly fixed with some yellow tape.

I searched but I suspect I shipped them when I sold my old 911 turbo Wheel as an extra. Or if I gave them away to some other I don´t remember. I found the old black paddles but not the silver ones.

Bevo I have not tried Ferrari Challenge. Would you say it´s better then iRacing, Race 07, rFactor with the realfeel, leos ffb mods etc?

Sadly, I have not got a gaming pc yet to play sims on. I have 2 macs and a cheap windows laptop that my wife uses for school. That's will definitely be a future investment after christmas. It will take me awhile to complete my pc though, because I'm wanting to go with a 3 screen setup, and I've pretty much spent all my extra cash the last 6 months on my 3 year old for christmas.

I doubt that it's as good as those games, but it is the best for FF I have played on a console. It's really a fairly good racing sim when compared to other console games. It's a shame it's just ferraris and doesn't have a better selection of cars. The graphics are not near GT5 or forza, but the online options are great, and the single player isn't to bad either.

If you can find it used fairly cheap it would be worth picking up just to try out. it's really the only game that shows of the logitech and fanatec wheels strength and precision on a console. It's sad how some really good games go so unnoticed because of the lack of advertising. It would be great if the same developers come out with a full fledged sim in the future, because they could really give PD and turn 10 some competition. Really the only thing it lacks is cars, and graphics. The online options, physics, and FF are as good or better then Forza and GT.

I'm having trouble with this wheel shutting down due to overheating I think.

Seems to last about 40 mins - 60 mins on the GT5 demo. Settings are 100% on the wheel and 6 in the game. I did have it on 66% and setting 3 on the GT5 demo when I first started a week a go but wanted a bit more FFB. Can't imagine how this fair on a PC sim or Ferrari Challenge.

Forza 3 is fine as the feedback is so weak on the highest setting and is quite lacking really. So no trouble for the wheel.

My G25 can take more feedback for longer periods.

You're not blocking the vents or anything right?

You can not get more feedback in GT5 demo by turning FFB setting higher. Game just lacks proper grip info and nobody has found settings to fix this.

My turbo S has never limited FFB. Fans usually go on after 30min of racing. However i haven't really used very hard settings on wheel.

Setting the GT5 demo to 6 or 10 shows a difference to me. Also shutting down happens sooner if set on 10 rather than 6.

I've just checked and put the demo FFB to 1 and 10. Very clear difference.

Not sure what you're on about.

Sigh. Just hard mounted the Turbo S to my Obutto with the supplied drilling template. The damn thing is off center. My holes in the Obutto are correct, but the holes in the wheel base are not the same with respect to the centerline of the wheel.

Very irritating. I should have noticed it, but I figure if the template says wheel centerline then they should be the same!

Take note if you go to hard mount this thing, you'll need to offset the half inch or whatever it is. If someone mentioned this before I wish I would have seen it.

Meh. 👎

It took me an hour before I figured out the same thing. I kept holding the template up to my playseat wheel plate and couldn't figure out why the holes were going to be off on one side. I finally turned the wheel over and realized the problem. Luckily I hadn't drilled any holes yet.
