How on Earth are you supposed to hardmount the standard pedals? There are some incredibly tiny hard mount holes (I'm assuming), but no mention as to the hardware necessary. All I know is Lowes does not carry anything small enough to fit them.

My cockpit is finally finished, and as I am currently waiting to receive my second set of CSP's (first set was defective), I decided to mount the pedals so I can finally try this wheel out. That's where I ran into the above problem. Anyone here hardmount your standard pedals? If so, what did you use? 3mm?

EDIT:

Upon further research, it seems the pedals cannot be hard mounted without the optional metal plate. Furthermore, the metal plate for the standard pedals is no longer listed on the webshop. So..... I'm just meant to velcro them down? Fanatec, a little dissapointed in your inability to create decent mounting options. The only thing that can be hard mounted is the wheel itself (which is a must due to the poor clamp design). Everything else must be DIY'ed.

Im having problems with manual shifting with the S wheel whilst racing i'll go to 3rd to 6th or 2nd to 6th or 4th to 6th without changing gear its screech and change without me even changing gear? happens with paddle and shifters tried changing cables and on and off but still the problem is bugged with xbox and ps3 all working fine until today.

Anyone had similar problems? before i get in touch with fanatec.

@Delphic Reason
You can easily mount the standard pedals with the screw inserts on the bottom. The screws are smaller than on other pedals but that does it not make any more difficult to do that. I don't understand your problem as it works very well on our RennSport Cockpit.
Beside that, the steel plate is included on all regular PWTS models.

The shifters can be hardmounted if you purchase the RennSport wheel Stand shifter adapter.

There is no need to DIY for anything if you don't want to. Of course you can make a cheaper solution by yourself but this takes some effort.

There is no drilling template... There is no information provided about hardware size. I have had no luck finding any such hardware in my area. A little info is all I required.

I have worked out a mounting solution for myself, thankfully, but I would suggest you make this kind of info more common knowledge.

;)

As our competitors are not providing any drilling templates it is hard to understand why you complain about our "inability to provide decent mounting options". This is simply not the case.

Nevertheless I will see if we can see to improve this point.

Yeah. The only reason I want a Fanatec is for 360 compatibility...otherwise, I'd buy a G25/27. I have a Driving Force Pro right now.

Forza 3, but no steering wheel.
Logitech steering wheel, but no Gran Turismo 5 (non-Prologue)...le sigh!

lol if you buy wheels that are actually in stock there isn´t much to worry about :)

Nah, the problem is their support.

They are good guys, and you will get support, but it won't be quick, and it seems like the only way to get them to respond to you is to be an ass.

I received the wireless dongle after a about of month of contacting support with weeks in between responses. It doesn't work. I contacted support almost 2 weeks ago, and after several days received an email back ignoring (or just misunderstanding) what I actually wrote in the email claiming I was using the wrong guide and hitting the wrong buttons. I clarified what was in my original email, that I was using the correct guide and tried several methods to no avail, in a new email 10 days ago. I have yet to hear back from them.

I mentioned earlier in the thread (I think this thread) that it was probably going to take another couple of months to get this minor problem taken care of. Fanatec responded that it wouldn't, yet here it is almost 2 weeks since, almost Christmas/New Years, and I can't even get a decent response much less a solution. Who's to know if it is even a dongle problem? The problem could be the wheel for all anyone knows, and I will have to go through the whole weeks between communication process all over again for that.

If I were to see a Fanatec product in the store, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it, but I don't think I will ever order directly from Fanatec again.

You know what they do provide?

Hard mounting options for all their products. You know better, and you're being a bit obtuse.

Here's you a big ole bubble buster as Logitech supplies templated for the G25 wheel which I think is one of the best wheels on the market!

Q: Tutorial: Finding templates to permanently mount G25 to a surface.

trnsp.gif
I want to permanently mount my G25 to a surface. Where can I get templates for the location of the holes that must be drilled for permanent mounting?

The information in this article applies to the following device:
G25 Racing Wheel
The G25 Racing Wheel comes with hard points on the bottom of the Wheel, Shifter, and Pedals that allow them to be attached to a surface with screws. Please note it is not necessary to use these hard points to attach the G25 to a surface. The clamping system on the G25 is quite secure. The hard points are only advised if you want an ultra secure attachment or are building a racing cockpit. Please click on the appropriate links below for the templates.

For you that have both the Turbo S and GT 3 RS have you also less self resistance from the Turbo S wheel in comparison :). Meaning less resistance while turning the wheel with no force feedback applied.

Well, we ship our products with a drilling temple so there is no need to download it. And we do have hardmounting options for the wheel, the pedals and the shifter (optional). The only thing which is missing is the drilling template for the standard pedals and I make sure we will provide this as well in the future.

Ok enough about templates please !! :) I hear you got shipment of g25 adapters lately for pure buyers. Do you have any extra to sell me even if did not order pure version? Normal Turbo S product info said it supports g25 pedals so i did not know i have to order adapter separately.

Just got my Turbo S Pure wheel up and running after receiving my G25 adapter a few days ago.

Working great at the moment but only tried the GT5 demo so far, I've got sensitivity to OFF. FFB 66% and the demo FFB set to 3. Seems really good. No violent shakes.

G25 pedal adapter is working perfectly.

Only problems is my table is not completely flat underneath so I couldn't use the clamp. The table has 3-4 inch flat part but then it goes to a box section for the legs. G25 mounts great but Fanatec with those extra plastic flaps require too much room and I can't rotate them to lock in place. Temporary solution I screwed the wheel to a piece of wood and got a couple of G-clamps. Table is too good drill holes through. Mounting to a piece of wood and then clamping is just as good. I'll make my own wheel stand when I eventually move house.

I prefer the paddle shifters on the G25, a more sure response when pressing to change gear. I should get use to them though.

D-pad on the wheel could be better.

Thanks to UKOGjonboy for the PS3 video. I forgot how to enable PS3 mode and watched your video again.👍

Will give it a good test on Forza 3 and GT5 demo over Christmas. Just hope it doesn't go faulty.

Cheers Fanatec.

Yes we plan to offer those adapters separatly very soon.

Thanks for info. I might be able to figure out wirings for adapter myself with a ohm meter (sort out which pin is which axis)

Hard mount was really the only option for me as the standard mount did just not hold wheel in place for 5min in forza 3. I will also hard mount my 6-speed shifter and i will post pics when it is done.

Yeah, it didn't look that good anyway. I doubt I'll test the plastic clamp.

Something similar to the G25 would be good for various tables but I've hard mounted the wheel to a piece of wood.

My Turbo S wheel and CSP's arrived a week or so ago - A question for others who have this wheel (Or even Fanatec if you're watching) --- Do you notice when the wheel is on lock and you're in a game you get a kind of 'chirping' coming from the wheel? It only happens when there's resistance so in other words, if I move the wheel and hold it on lock and I'm not playing a game I don't get the noise. Weird!
FYI, the wheel is mounted to a Visionracer VR3 👍

Cheers

Nick

I get the same thing. It seems like I've heard that fanatec say's it's the fan making that noise.

It has a DC motor so there will be allways some collector whine(high pitch noise when you turn the wheel). My fans soud very normal on my turbo s wheel.

I will also hard mount my 6-speed shifter and i will post pics when it is done.

I received my "Rennsport Shifter Adapter" and used that to hardmount the shifter (reccomended by Fanatec for Cockpit users). Solid as a rock, and only cost $20. Honestly, if you have $20, there's no reason not to go this route. It even comes with all the hardware you need to secure it.

Pictures will be posted tomorrow (Wed), as promised, in my cockpit thread.

;)

In Forza 3, is it possible to get the 360 joypad synced back to the console while ingame after using the Turbo S wheel?

I tried turning the wheel off while ingame but I couldn't get the joypad back no matter what I did. Had to go back to the dashboard and reboot to get the joypad working fully.

I know they can't used at the same time which is disappointing but I want to resync the joypad to take some photos in the replay.

Is there a quick way to switch from the wheel to joypad?

Yeah, all you have to do is turn one off before you turn the other on.

As long as you don't ever have them on at the same time, then they will be swappable as the first controller. If you ever have them both turned on at the same time, then one will sync as a second controller, and it will stay that way until you power cycle the system.

That adapter is only for the G25 shifter?

Thanks. I just tried it and can swap them easily now.👍
