It is possible to do yourself but it probably would not look pretty
The looks are not that important to me when it comes to the pedals – but they should be as accurate a copy of the feel of the real car (997) as possible.

I do not think the CSPs are made to be taken apart into individual pedals so I do not know if it would be so easy for Fanatec to make a kit for hanging pedals + floor accelerator and it still would not be easy to do for the end user.
It should hardly need rocket science to swap the gas pedal to a Fanatec-made separate support – and I can't see that Fanatec would have to invest much effort – basically it needs a 1/3 length version of the existing set! It should not need any "developing".

It would certainly be a lot harder for someone to make something up at home to copy the real Porsche "2 hanging and 1 on the floor" pedal set-up, than for Fanatec to do it.

Btw, I don't find heel-and-toeing a problem with the 997 set up. And Porsche would hardly fit this to an iconic sportscar and track tool if if was difficult to use it well.

90% of users are probably happy with the floor-mounted pedal set – as many G25/G27 users seem to be. Most of the rest would like to invert the pedals.

Just how many of those want the more complex option I'm describing, I really don't know – though with Fanatec being german and the car they are copying being german too, there should at least be a fair proportion of german gamers who would like the chance to have an authentic pedal-set-up – along with other reality cravers, like me, in other countries.

So, it would be a nice option, but if no-one says they want it, then Fanatec might never have the idea themselves.

If you don't ask, you don't get. I'm asking! :D

Being a small company, Fanatec has the chance be more flexible and rapid than a more lumbering, bigger manufacturer. They should be able to re-assess what people want and respond more quickly. That is part of being a good company too – not just making a slick product.

Though I agree that the customer service on the existing products has to work well and that has to be a priority. There still seem to be people with product problems complaining about unanswered emails – and links on the Fanatec site don't always work.

Building customer confidence is definitely the number one goal that they should be striving for 👍

We will build whatever we can sell and we actually made prototypes and plans to sell inverted pedals but it is all a matter of priorities and we have more important projects at the moment. But this does not mean we don't make it...

Just had an email with my invoice, my GT3RS clubsport should be on their way :D Haven't had anything from UPS but hopefully it'll go out today 👍

Edit: UPS tracking number received, should be with me on Friday. can't wait!

👍 Sounds good.

The option of a separate mount to hold just one pedal, which could be transferred from a standard pedal set would be nice – and not much work for you.

No real hurry for me though– I can use my inverted G25 for GT5.

But, when I tire of GT5 (who knows when that will be, but hopefully not after only a few weeks), I will be looking at PC sim racing and will want to build a 997 pedal set-up for that.

If reports of Fanatec customer support improve and the new wheels turn out to be solid and reliable, I will definitely consider using Fanatec products instead of a G27 at that time :)

My PWTS and CS Pedals arrived today - after some issues out of the box I am up and running - will take some getting used to on FM3 (was using the 360 wheel) I'm liking it though. All I need to hardmount it and I'll be in business.

Well guys, I heard terrible things about Fanatec costumer service. I must tell you my experience at this moment.

I just bought 2 weeks ago the RS wheel with the CSP. A few days ago the wheel had a problem in game. A serious problem. I just made what Fanatec says to do: sent the email to e-support with all they requested, including a video (August 3rd). The next day I had a reply from Fanatec informing me that in fact the wheel had a problem and that they would send a new replacement wheel in a few days.
The next day I`ve been contacted from Fanatec with the information that the new wheel should be send this week.
Today I have the confirmation from Fanatec and UPS that the wheel is on the way and is arriving next Monday.

It´s more then fair for Fanatec to tell here my experience. Thank you Fanatec for your support.

PS - The wheel and the CSP are just great. I had a G25 (with zero problems, nothing to say about that) and I think is a good wheel too. But this one is fantastic. I`ll wait for the promissed CSShifter from them.

Sorry for doubling the post. Seems like here is a better place to be :)

I'm putting the finishing touches on my "Fanatec Clubsport Pedals Tuning Kit Review/Guide".

I will post it later today with a link to the review in this thread.

Stay tuned...

Most of it, yes. Although, some of it, I am merely testing/reviewing, and will be sent back.

;)
How many wheels do you actually own? And which one?

Any news on the release date/price of the Carrera wheel in Europe (or is the US release date the same as the European)? Hasn't Thomas given you the green light yet to post the review of the Carrera wheel?

Going off topic guys and gals, I am trying to install/flash Firmware UE 669 to my PWTS I have no problems with my wheel but want to start using GT5P and Supercar Challenge (at the moment I largely drive Forza 3) and want to have the increased adjust ability and functions that UE 669 brings.

However, I am having trouble doing so, Could anyone tell me what light(s) combination should I see on the dongle to signify it has "switched to boot loader mode"? I got both a red and white light that both flashed every second or so, is this what I was looking for?

Cheers:)

IIRC if the dongle is not in bootloader mode then the software will tell you in the white information box or a pop-up will show telling you there was no device found.

Thanks crazedmodder(I think)?!! unfortunately that is what it said:(

why don't you perform it while wired with the usb? (just throwing out an idea)

I own the PWTS with CSP's. I used to own a DFGT, and a G25. I am currently testing the GT3RS V2, Logitech G27, and the PWC.

The PWC (Carrera) is going into the production phase, so it won't be long.

I will also be adding the PWC to my Wheel Comparison (PWTS, GT3RS V2, PWC, G27, DFGT)

The PWC review is likely to be out before the Wheel Comparison, as there is a huge amount of info I'm trying to include, and it's taking some time to do so.

As for the release date...

You'll just have to wait and see.

The dongle can have its firmware upgraded as well.

Just to be clear, if you are trying to upgrade the wheel's firmware then you need to have the wheel connected through USB, you cannot do it with the dongle.

By the way, this is from the PDF that is included with the firmware installers:
Step 5
Push and hold the Dongle Button and then connect the RF Dongle to the PC. Keep
the button pressed until the white LED indicates that the dongle switched to boot
loader mode.

Thanks again crazedmodder, I knew the problem would be me! I thought you had to update both and have to start with the dongle, If updating the dongle isn't essential, I will just try to do the wheel itself, I'm a bit dumb when it comes to things like this unfortunately (I maybe calling on your knowledge/experience/common sense again be warned!!:dopey:))

First batch of Carrera wheels is finished and they will ship in October. It's final now :) These wheels can already be pre-ordered and since the first batch is small, they will probably sell soon.

Thats a nice looking wheel but I have my eye on the 911 turbo S. I need the wireless and 360 functions

I'm taking it that the turbo s ultimate package will be gone as well? And that the Carrera is replacing it?

That makes no sense. The low end Fanatec wheel is going to replace their most expensive how did you draw that conclusion??
Production is just ending.

Production is just ending.

That's what confuses me, why would they drop their most expensive, and bring out their low end one? Or are they replacing their most expensive one with another?

I apologize I haven't kept up with Fanatec, but I'm started to do so more as I'm looking to purchase one once my g25 breaks, or I get a good deal on it. (I need 360/PS3 support).

Then you should hurry, because the production of Turbo S has ended. You should buy one while you still can ;)

Im saving as fast as i can, almost halfway there, but then theres the Rennesport stand as well.

My review of the PWC will be up tomorrow, so if anyone is unsure, wait for the review. It should answer any questions you might have regarding features and/or functionality.

The Turbo S was always slated to be a limited production unit. Only 10,000 were produced. The Microsoft imposed wireless functionality (along with other hurdles I'm sure) made for an expensive wheel to produce.

The Carrera wheel is the budget wheel in the Fanatec lineup. Although, you get a lot for the money.
