Wow, thanks everyone, really appreciate it :)
Yes, I also have the Clubsport pedals and I will try to review them as soon as possible (maybe this weekend), but I'm not gonna promise anything since I gotta study.

Hi, good info from ibo Racer, good review from Sonac :) nice.

Cheers BOB

ps IMO i'd get shifter mount for Rennsport Wheel Stand, makes them really sturdy :) , well certainly better than the std rods. Be careful what studs you use ie not too long, but not too short :)

Thanks bibio

Could someone with CSP and working brake vibration check out the CSP thread and compare the hidden board (need to be a 1v4 board) with the pics i posted. So i know if my problem lies there or not.
Thanks

Theres a new version of the shifter coming out next year, so it might be worth waiting till then, rather than buy one now. (if your selected wheel does'nt come with on that is.)

And I don't think you would want to have a wheel without a shifter for 0,5-1 year. Racing without an H shifter isn't that great :)
You better order it together with the wheel or you'll order it one month later and pay another shipping fee.

And the shifter is not as bad as people tent to say.
At the beginning it's a bit clunky (because in comparaison to the g25), but after 2 laps i loved it, you find the gears easily and it's a nice resistance. The sound of the click is not marvelous but at that price and the materials it's ok

Buy the shifter clamp with it for a hardmount and it's amazing

Oh and something else. If you plan on using an H-shifter and clutch for GT5:P, I advise you not to, because its gearbox model is quite weird. It wants the clutch to be depressed fully to enable shifting and that's weird. In a real car (or any other game) you don't have to push the clutch so far...
Hopefully they will correct this for the final game.

No you don't, come on. In most cars pressing the pedal half way is enough. And sims like iRacing know that...GT5:P unfortunately does not...but they will probably correct that in the final game since GT5:P does not even support any wheel with a clutch in the menu...

Has anyone on the forums ever done a mod to the Fanatec shifter ?
Maybe you could build an inclosure for it.
Like putting a smaller box(the fanatec shifter) in a bigger box(the inclosure)with a gate on top that would help make the shifts more precise...?

I have never used the Fanatec shifter but from videos it looks like a gate could help..

No, no, no...

The problem with the current Fanatec shifter has absolutely nothing to do with precision. It already has a gate, and it works extremely well. I have never missed a gear when shifting with it.

The problem that it does have is that it has a cheap plastic feel that doesn't match the overall high quality feel of the rest of the wheel, and it is a bit loud (the loud doesn't actually bother me at all).

Whats really the point of the H shifter if your racing and you have paddle shifters?

I try to use what I would find in the kind of car I am driving, but at the end of the day...

Using an H shifter is just a hell of a lot more fun.

Okay, now I see how the Fanatec shifter works.
Somehow from watching videos, I got the impression it did not have an actual physical gate. Thanks for that information.
It's not the first time I spoke about somthing I knew nothing about..LOL

Ha not the case for me atm. I'm 2 seconds slower around Suzuka but it's my first day and I dont have a gaming cockpit setup yet.

But there's potential ;)

Well I think that the paddles are faster but for a better racing feel, I like using H gate. If I am playing F1 or cars with over 6 gears I use paddles. Or if I do laps in a track and can't pass it I will use paddles.

People here says that an H shifter gives you faster laps…
Quite soon I’ll know if that’s a myth or not…

In GT5 you can upshift much faster with the H-Gate than the paddles. In iRacing, if the car uses an H-Shifter in real life then you can shift faster in game than using the paddles.

It is much more fun as well!

Has anyone hard mounted this to the Wheel Stand Pro...I am more worry about the Pedals... are there pre-drill holes on the Pedals.......Thinking its best to use a Alum Plate

I have mine hard mounted to the WheelStand Pro at the moment. You'll have to use the inclosed template to drill your own holes, but other wise fits nice and snug. As far as the pedals, mine are just laying on the ground bars. The rubber, keeps in place, but you can hard mount those also with some brain power.

I have been out of the racing world this summer, read a page or so back that there maybe a firmware update for the Porsche 911 S? IS this true? IF so what does it update and how would I go about doing it.

Edit: Answered my own question. Found it here: http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/3580

Has anyone done this successful? Is it worth it? I saw on the blog that there was a few issues, the new options look great. But I dont want wreck my wheel with an untested firmware.

Yes I did a fortnight ago and yes it is worth it, the wheel just becomes so flexible with whatever is thrown at it! Mind you, it me a few attempts to get it done but in the end I simply downloaded the firmware again (after deleting the original) and started again and voila!! Only downside is the fans running all the time.

I am lucky to have an example that generally ran cool so the fans only kicked in periodically and then it was never that noisy so to me having the fans on constantly is all the more noticeable and in the case of my wheel unnecessary.

I have the latest firmware, and I have no issues with the Xbox 360. What issues do you speak of?

;)

I agree I have no idea what he could be talking about.

Sorry guys I did a "post and run" so I never got back to you guys. One issue I and a few of the guys i race with have had is during the race the wheel will act as if you paused it and lock totally in one direction. Loosing communication at the same time.

I think I am going to hard mount the clubsports pedel to the Wheel Stand Pro.......Can someone give me the measurement in Inches ( width & length)...I am going to get a 1/4 alum plate and drill the holes ...then put it on top of another 1/2 inch plate to fit in between the bars......But I need the correct measurment for the top plate....hope to have the wheel and pedals this weekend....thankx

Measurements and weights:

* width: 13.4 inch [340 mm]
* depth: 12.6 inch [320 mm]
* height: 7.9 inch [200 mm]
* weight: ~ 10.8 lbs [~ 4.9 kg]

When we say width......is that the measurement from left of clutch to the right of gas pedal......and is depth the same as length
