i plan to make very solid shifter installation for my racing cockpit but well we see how it goes when i get the wheel :) Can you btw keep both shifters plugged in? I was planning to keep squential in the rods and put H-patter shifter to my shifter stand lower and back from the wheel.

it actually might because of usb and if console does handshake as regular game pad. However game has to allow you to use 2 input devices at once for this to work(wheel and SST) This needs testing.

Will that work on either the ps3, pr 360?

Yes it does, it's compatible with the logitech wheels but for the 360 you would have to have any of the Fanatec wheels that can be used on the 360

I suppose you can't switch from sequential to H-pattern and vice versa?

I don't think you can switch to sequential it appears that it's only a gated shifter unfortunately but considering there are no parts that wear down internally this a pretty sturdy shifter

What? Have you actually tried the H-shifter on GT 5 Prologue for example? I can´t see how that would work so I haven´t even tested it. I mean it´s impossible to use the pedals attached to usb so why should a separate H-shifter like the SST shifter work?

I highly doubt you can have both the H-shifter and sequential attached at the same time. But it would be easy to just close the game and change the cable from the H-shifter to sequential with that setup. They are just PS/2 connections at the bottom of the shifters so doesn´t take many seconds. Could be cool otherwise to use the sequential for brake balance or handbrake while using the H-shifter :).

But well it´s hardly a feature I can´t live without.

With GT5 P and the Fanatec Shifters..

You can switch from Sequential to H shifter either by switching each shifter by cable, or When you use H shifter, want to use Sequential paddle shifters, just unplug the shifter next to wheel and use the paddle shifters. I like that H shifter and Sequential are both in one in the G25, but we all know it sucks big time without any mods..
For me I always have the H Shifter on my setup with GT5P, if I see a car that has Sequential, I just unplug the shifter and use the paddles.

Ok, thanks. It seems i have no use for sequential i will do the same thing as you. Unless i make switch box some day(which i highly doubt).

In fact we do offer two alternative solutions to mount the H-pattern shifter:

1. Shifter adaper for Rennsport Wheel Stand (If you use the stand)

2. Clubsport Table clamp (If you use the table)

Both solutions are rock solid and with the Clubsport table clamp you can also adjust the angle of the wheel rim

I understand that what Fanatec is trying to do is provide a simple all-in-one-solution: a wheel that can be used easily on any table, & a wheel that works with the Rennsport wheel stand. This makes perfect sense & will work for many wheel users. However, many "serious" sim racers who buy the Fanatec wheel will have a cockpit of some sort, & would prefer to be able to integrate the shifter easily into their cockpit.

The G25 provides a simple clamp, as well as a direct mount option. It would be great if Fanatec could provide either a mounting point in the bottom of the H-shifter, or a metal plate to achieve this if it is not possible to drill into the H-shifter (finding the exact size steel rods to fit into the holes in the shifter is going to be very hard for the consumer, but easy for Fanatec to have milled).

Anyone that is worried about how to hard mount their Fanatec shifters....

Just buy the Rennsport Shifter Adapter. It's made to attach to the Rennsport Wheel Stand. However, you can easily drill two holes, and mount it to anything you want. I have two on order. One for the H-Gate shifter (down low like a typical sports car setup), and one for the Sequential (next to the wheel like a rally/touring car setup).

It's a no brainer, really.

;)

I scroll further down & notice it says that the PS3 must have the date changed to pre 22/12/2008. Why this would make a difference… who knows? But if they told me I had to hop up & down on one leg, scratching my right testicle while pressing the Start button... I would give it a try at this point. :indiff:

Sure enough, this time the wheel responds.

When do you need to change the date? Everytime before use?
That sounds quite strange and annoying.

Well, I emailed the company who makes the sst shifter, and they said there is no way to get it to work on consoles. So I guess I'm answering my own question.

drivatar the date isn´t auto changing so you only have to do it once and it sticks.

And yes that is what I thought about the SST shifter. No multiple controllers.

I haven't seen any photo or video showing the shifter adapter in use with a Fanatec wheel (only with the G25). Thomas, I take it that the shifter adapter includes "mini bars" that fit into the shifter & attach to the shifter adapter?

You beat me to it. :)

Yes, the shifter adapter does have the two bars (although much shorter) to attach the Fanatec shifters to, or you can use it for the G25 shifter. Nice little piece of kit really.

;)

So it's possible to get rid of the two bars between the shifter and wheel?

From this picture I'd make my own bracket for the underside of the shifter.

Can Mr Fanatec tell me about the 10,000 limited production and how many they've sold. Is a new range that works with xbox 360, PC and PS3 going to be brought out after you've sold them all?

I want to buy one but not sure as for the the price of 1 911 wheel I could buy 3 G25's and adding Clubsport pedals I could buy 5 G25's.

I already own a G25 so I could use the G25 pedals but is the adapter out yet? And what extra delay in connections are there going through an adapter and dongle, seems a messy set up for PC and PS3. I just like a straight connection and not go through a multitude of adapters.

"Is a new range that works with xbox 360, PC and PS3 going to be brought out after you've sold them all?"

Probably no new range as they have just been able to hunt the bugs on current line-up. Maybe new spring to accelerator, bolt holes for shifter or some other small things.
But i am 110% sure that fanatec continues to develod and produce steering wheels with the best of their ability. So i would not count on 10000 limited production too much :) (i have an estimate for sold wheels but im not payed to do analysis on Endor AG :D so i won't do so)

Be sure that we will make a new wheel if there is enough demand. But this will take some time...

The time required to come up with a new name & graphics? ;)

I would strongly suggest a non-Porsche, generic (but cool looking) wheel. 👍

I'm still very interested in a (non-Porsche) Fanatec wheel, 100%compatible with PC/PS3.

If they have now accuired porsche license it would be vice to use it. Of course if porsche gets a share for every wheel, i would likely to try to develop fanatec as a brand more than use porsche.

You people and your "can't drive a Ferrari with a Porsche wheel, but can with a Fanatec wheel" ways are funny.

:p

Are you staring at the wheel or the road?

I can understand if you just find the wheel ugly, and don't want it displayed in your rig, but complaining that it messes with the experience of racing with a different brand car is just odd.

Wrong! :sly:

I'm interested in a "Fanatec generic wheel" and not a "Porsche" wheel, because I think that a Porsche wheel is more expensive. The same hardware with a generic wheel, is less expensive. I'm not sure but I think that the costs for acquiring a Porsche license to build a Porsche wheel is calculated in the retail price.

Fair enough. In your case.

It has been brought up before with people arguing what I said in my post.

Exactly!

Same as wearing over-priced "branded" clothes. :yuck:
