The assumption that the brand "Porsche" makes the wheel more expensive is true but you overestimate it. The license fee is very reasonable and probably lower than what other companies pay for a "Gran Turismo" brand.

In fact without Porsche there would be no high-end wheel on 360. Period.

The reason for the high price of the Porsche wheel is due to the enourmous production cost because of the very expensive materials we use.

the leather wheel rim is made in the same factory as BMW produces their leather stuff. And we need to send leather, PU foam, belts etc. from Europe to China because nothing can compare in quality.

Most of the cost is hidden in the electronics and the belt drive and is hard to see. But once you drive it you will feel the difference.

In fact if we would sell the wheel on a normal retail channel we would have to ask for a price in the region of 600€. With or without Porsche brand.

Thank you for the interesting reply Thomas. I don't find the Fanatec wheels (or the Logitech ones) overly expensive. They're certainly expensive compared to some really high volume "Walmart" consumer products, but compared to the ridiculous prices charged by car manufacturers for spare parts ($280 for a headlight lens cap for eg.), they are an absolute bargain!

Wrong! :sly:

I'm interested in a "Fanatec generic wheel" and not a "Porsche" wheel, because I think that a Porsche wheel is more expensive. The same hardware with a generic wheel, is less expensive. I'm not sure but I think that the costs for acquiring a Porsche license to build a Porsche wheel is calculated in the retail price.

The assumption that the brand "Porsche" makes the wheel more expensive is true but you overestimate it.
How do you know that I overestimated it? I never said that it is too expensive, I just said that it is more expensive, exactly the same thing what you said. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I'm very, very interested in a Fanatec wheel/pedals. Much more than in a Logitech wheel. But I have to say, it's a toy IMHO and I don't need a more expensive toy (e.g Porsche wheel in your case). A generic wheel, like the Logitech G25, is much more appealing, for me personal. I believe in Fanatec's products. I'm sure that Fanatec makes very good merchandize and I'm considering buying a Fanatec wheel, not just yet, it can take half a year before I get a PS3 and PC compatible wheel.

Thomas, is Fanatec considering making:

  • a handbrake
  • analoge and digital dials (speedomter, rev counter, fuel gauge, etc ...)?

Perfect!

Thank you! ;)

Thomas / Fanatec
Id like to thank you for now sorting my faulty wheel.

Ive received back my GT3RS wheel, not having had time to properly test but it seems so far to be working great now. I dont think Fanatec have had much of a high failure rate so i guess i was one of the unlucky ones.

To give confidence to others regards Fanatecs support...
Its taken about a month but the only thing i found annoying was not having an email sent to me to inform me the wheel had been received for repair. Also no communication or email was sent to me for when it was dispatched ready after repair. I was promptly re-imbursed for the cost to return the wheel. Regards the emails perhaps, not crucial i suppose but its nice to be informed and less frustrating when you are i suppose but they did return my emails promptly and the service wasnt a problem.

Yippee Armin from Fanatec has also shipped me the (G25 Pedal Adapter Cable)
Thanks also to this guy as ive gave him a bit of a hard time over recent emails. I dont know if any of the orders yet for the wheel have began shipping with this cable or anyone here has got one? Perhaps Thomas can make an announcement soon to ship out to those that want/need one?

After the fuss ive made on the product being listed as having the compatibility yet no cable supplied i will test the GT3RS with G25 pedals over the weekend with some PS3 games inc GT5P.

My cable is listed as "beta" so perhaps they are not yet finalised again thats upto Fanatec to comment on or inform its customers if ive just be very fortunate in getting an early sample sent to me.

Now that i have the wheel and can test it properly (with PS3 console usage focus) i will soon be doing an indepth look at it and a thread to confirm games that work with it on PS3. Something i would of started much earlier if my wheel arrived working. Im surprised here that the community havnt been so good as to do something similar earlier.

Please see my (lengthy) post #762 in this thread. :)

Yes im aware of it, having read what you posted and for people here it is again below..
Im not saying noone has tried to give feedback but in general the response on this wheel how it plays with GT in particular, its non disclosed compatibility with other games would benifit with further reports. Furthermore ive yet to read a review that has mentioned testing with the G25 pedals and comparing these to CSP on the PS3. Has a definative report been seen that tries to establish if the CSP are worth purchasing for console sims, is their much benifits, can an average gamer be faster with their higher precision? This is also important as it will be a factor with the Turbo S and Forza Motorsport 3. Ive got these questions to answer to myself for my own personal views and im certain others regarding this product may want it for PS3 usage and not PC sims. I bought this wheel for GT5 nothing else and the pedals to be used with the GT3RS or the Turbo S, its also important i discover if indeed they are a benifit over G25 pedals on console games.

The report i had always planned will have more detail with photos/setup help

For consoles both the G25 pedals and the CSP is 8-bit so you don´t get any more steps. But seriously I have 12-bit pedals as well and 8-bit is really sufficient. I doubt even super humans really benefit from higher precision in the pedals. Wheel is another thing since you have more precision in your arms then in your legs generally. But again 8-bit is really sufficient here as well. It´s more about what feel it´s in the pedals and that the pedal travel is smooth of course.

Good review as always and the low plug and play scores is fair. Same as mentioning that when you get it going it´s sweeeeet lol.

Should perhaps has mentioned the rfactor plugin and the vibration feature on the brakes and what they thought about it. And about force feedback it doesn´t really help just saying it´s strong and smooth. Would liked them to elaborate more on that part.

I have a question for Fanatec/Thomas:

I am strongly considering placing an order for the 911 Turbo S wheel with the standard pedals for $329.95 (I might wind up ordering the Clubsport Edition instead, but it's $150 more right now  I know they are great pedals though, and I might regret not getting them later but...)

The question I have is, do you plan on including an adapter to use the Turbo S with the G25 pedals? I know the Pure edition includes this adapter, but the $329 package is much better in my opinion, because the dongle and shifters are already included, and it also comes with the standard Porsche pedals. However, under the content descriptions, it appears it does not include a G25 pedal adapter at the moment.

If not, can you request the pedal adapter to be included in the $329.95 Turbo S package, or will you soon be able to order the pedal adapter as a stand-alone item in the Fanatec webshop? I have looked for the pedal adapter under accessories, and everywhere else too in the webshop, but was unable to find it.

Also, do you have any beta versions of the Turbo S wheel (or the older 911 Turbo wheel for that matter) and pedals that have been returned by beta testers that you might be willing to sell at a reduced price? If so, just send me a Private Message and let me know :sly: Thanks 👍

any updates on a shipping date? Can we expect it to ship within the next two weeks or will there be further delays?

Which wheel are you talking about?

The Turbo S isn't shipping till September, so definitely not in a couple weeks.

The padal adapter to connect the G25 will be offered separatly in September.

We do not have beta wheels available at the moment. If the tester does not want to keep it we usually need them for spare parts or reliability tests.

Turbo S Product info says:
" pedal compatibility:

* Microsoft wireless wheel for Xbox360
* Logitech G25
* Porsche 911 Carrera wheel
* Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel
* Fanatec Clubsport pedals

"

So orderd turbo s thinking it will work out of the box with G25 pedals as it clearly did not say you would need something else for g25 pedals :( I even bought g25 pedals ready for the wheel.

will this PS/2 female /D9 female converter work?: http://www.yeoy.fi/index.php?main=64&productCat=2329&productID=10883
If it works, i would imagine it would quite easy for you to trow in that adaper for wheel buyers as it cost only 0,50€ to fix the missunderstanding.

How did you buy the G25 pedals?

i have ordered Turbo s pure, do i need to order G25 pedal adapter, or it's not necessary cause it's included with the wheel???

Hey Fanatec, any way Brits can pay in USD rather than EUR? The Euro price is completely ludicrous for us due to messed up exchange rates.

Works out at £305 vs £433 (GBP) for the clubsport edition of the 911 Turbo S which is a massive difference. In fact, with the difference between the two I could buy a brand new Logitech G25.

Hell, it would be cheaper for me to have someone buy it in the US for me and ship it over from there. Just crazy.

A guy had extra new pedals for sale in Finland. You might be able to buy them if you contact straight to logitech or importer.

Unfortunately Logitech does not sell individual parts

I just had a quick look on eBay here in the U.S. and there are several sellers offering G25 shifters--in some cases new  --don't know how they get them

But when I look for just G25 pedals for sale, there are none to be found.

Inverted Clubsports

Notes:
I decided with my on going d.i.y cockpit that inverting the pedals would give me more leg room. I will be playing other games sitting in the cockpit and some general PC usage. I dont expect any benifits in racing performance doing this but also think it might be more astheticly pleasing and give easier access for the cockpit.

Actions:
1. Throttle & Clutch Sensors Swapped
2. Throttle & Clutch Pedal Plates Swapped
3. Throttle & Clutch Springs/Damper Swapped
4. All Pedal Plates Inverted
5. Circuit Board Repositioned Closer To Clutch
6. Stand Pedals Upright Rotate 90 Degrees
7. Inverted Action Now Possible With Same Angle Of Pedals As When Flat

Issues:
It may be possible just to switch the plugs on the circuit board of the Clutch & Gas.
I didnt however want to risk damagaing these or incase their is any difference to the actual sensors. With the Clutch cable being about 5cm shorter means it is required to reposition by unscrewing the ciircuit board and create new holes to attach it.

The throttle plate will now be upside down having inverted the pedals.
This would require two new holes to be drilled closer to the top rather than the bottom of the throttle arm. I however may decide to order/purchase a spare pedal from Fanatec or buy new ones to have all my pedals the same and use the longer original throttle plate as some form of foot rest in the cockpit.

In the process of working with mine i snapped a cable on the brake pedal which needs resoldered so be carefull with this. I recommend to remove the plate within the brake pedal when adjusting the springs. Its worse with this pedal as its a much finer cable.

PLEASE NOTE DOING ANY MODIFICATION IS LIKELY TO INVALADATE YOUR WARRENTY!!! - ONLY DO AT YOUR OWN RISK -

What is VAT?

In the US am I going to have to pay more on top of what I already paid?

No hes referring to a UK customer purchasing via payment of $
The $ price does not include UK Import Duty & Taxation as its intended for USA purchasers. Im not sure if the import duty is valid if from a EU country / Germany on toy/electronics such as these items. So it would be a bit of a grey area knowing how much it would finally cost.

For a customer to do so it would be the minimium of 15% VAT but possibly more needs to be added to the $ total. Also the exchange rate your credit/debit card uses may vary.

How about including that adapter for g25? Product info clearly says that turbo S works with g25 pedals but fails to note that you need to buy extra thing for that.

Also does this work for that?: http://www.yeoy.fi/index.php?main=64&productCat=2329&productID=10883

You only have to look back in this thread to see i was very vocal on this matter. Ive asked Thomas to update the website and inform customers of the situation. They should at least do this if they intend to start charging seperate for the cables for further orders. Any current orders by trading laws will be covered as it was listed as included.

Particulary with the Turbo S id assume Fanatec are going to have many customers purchasing "Pure Wheel Only" and using their already owned X360 pedals. So if these dont arrive in the boxes you can just expect trouble and i doubt they will because this is a new Microsoft partnership so im confident Thomas/Fanatec will be doing their best to ensure these problems like the GT3RS had are avoided, including the instructions....

With the GT3RS delays i found it non amusing not to have the (G25) cable dispatched with the first batch of GT3RS wheels. This will be costly for Fanatec too as an example my "beta" cable cost them 3 Euro to post to my address so you can understand they will only be wanting to post these to customers that need them on past sales.

Hopefully Thomas can answer your questions but after all my issues, the company can provide a good service to their customers and Thomas is a good guy to be dealing with.
