I just found on the fanatec site that it says "Includes Clubsport paddle shifters made of stainless steel" so it sounds like it's how I'm wanting it.
Time will tell as soon as people start getting them I guess, but yeah... it does say that on the main product page.

UPDATE 4

The new componets arrive around Oct 5th and we plan to ship out the first wheels in week 41. The bad component was a PCB which had a short circuit. After we get this PCB we need to put the electonic components on it and start the assembly.

The good news is that we are using the extra time to build in a few very cool new features. After we did the final testing on Monday i will announce them and make a video how they work.

New features?!?!

Like some others today in the UK

I received a PWTS "Beta Wheel"
Will be giving it a good seeing to tomorrow...
Report will be in the usual place

Once again thanks Thomas!

(Bevo, any word?)

I got an email saying that I am receiving one, but I'm assuming since I'm in the U.S, it will take a little longer for me to get it.
Did thye send you any emails telling you that they had shipped it to you, or did you just end up receiving it in the mail one day as a surprise?

Did you get any pedals with it?

Congrats you lucky bastards. Is the paddle shifters the same as on the RS? Also do the wheel smell like the old 911 turbos leather?

Nice with the +- buttons on the led too.

The newer "aluminium" metal shifters are black.
These are the same as the ones that came as a surprise with the GT3RS.
Ergonomics with the Silver shaped paddles were an issue for some. Not me personally as I use them on my GT3RS but Fanatec took the decision to change them.

The PWTS has never been shown officially with the "Clubsport Brushed Aluminium" paddle shifters that were dropped in favour of these.

I will comment that the actual shifter button on the PWTS is much better constructed, really a BIG improvement over the (1st batch) of GT3RS that I purchased.
The shifter buttons on the GT3RS has a bit of wobble movement to it when depressed, nothing major but still their.

The PWTS doesnt budge or wobble any at all and feels much more satisifying with no click sound thats also on the GT3RS wheel.
This maybe is one of the improvements....

Dont worry expect good photos on Tomorrows Detailed Look At the Wheel.

If you have questions or any interests then by all means goto gtf and add them in the "Wheel Comparison Questions" thread already set up.
We have no issues from members of other forum communities even such as this one posting on ours.
We would however appreciate the credit for things we do as a small community to help the wider/bigger community as a whole.

I'm reading on fm.net that the Turbo S wheel works with the PS3 via USB and there's no need for the dongle.

I'm under the impression you need the dongle. Without the dongle the PS3 is not mentioned to work with it

I've got a beta wheel too, so here's my first attempt at a video review.

Part 2 tomorrow

I'm eagerly waiting for part 2!
Could you put both of the shifters on the rods, as a guy on the youtube page asked? I was also planning on using the sequential as an e-brake and the h shifter or the paddles for the gears, but always wondered if both of the shifters could be used at the same time..... *edit* as I saw the pictures on the forza 3 forum's thread about the fanatec wheel I guess it won't be possible *end of edit*
Also does it warm up after a long playing session?
and last....could you try with a ps2 and maybe kaido racer 2 (I know it's a long stretch, you probably don't have a ps2 or kaido racer)
thanks for the video review!

I noticed the lcd display was different from yours and the one latte got?

My ealrlier pic shows reflections.. :)
The only difference with the display on this to the GT3RS is a "connect controller" button on the right hand side.
Im testing the wheel at the moment with the G25 pedals in FM3, working fine as are the standard Fanatec pedals of course. I have to rebuild part of my CSP which I will do tomorrow and try those with it also.
This product does not come with the "X360 Pedal Adapter Cable" so I will contact Armin (great guy) tomorrow to see if or when I can test these on the X360 pedals with the wheel.
Do remember guys that the X360 adapter pedal cable is ONLY due to be shipped with the PURE edition.

I prefer to let others go ahead and do the "OMG I GOT IT !!!" type of approach.
Some may like to do that but I prefer to ensure my own reviews/opinions and testing is more thorough particulary as this product deserves proper evaluation and attention to detail.
You guys know the drill on my attention to detail by now...

This is also quite an expensive purchase this wheel, lets not forget it is the premium product from the Fanatec range and Im aware of peoples concerns in deciding if this is the wheel for them.

I have to say though I totally love how they have implemented the lights, not too bright yet not hard to see.
They look fantastic in the dark. Particulary as Im playing with a projector, very useful indeed.

Right time I got back at it....

Thomas using the FM3 demo

So no need for the dongle. Hope I can cancel the dongle and get a refund.

On his blog he posted that you can of course feel free to cancel the dongle, but due to technical limitations can only do so by canceling the entire order.

That's no good when today the price has gone up 30 euros and $50 for the Pure Edition.

How convenient.

We used the delay to implement a few new features which I am sure you will like a lot.

1. USB connection cable

On PC/ PS3 you now have the option to choose between a wired or a wireless connection. This feature is standard on all versions of the wheel.

(If you now consider to cancel the order of your wireless dongle you are feree to do so but please note that you need to cancel the complete order and reoprder again due to technichal reasons.)

I don't see how hard it is to refund me 50 euro back to my paypal account and not send the dongle. The price also went up today so I'd only save £15 by re-ordering. We should be able to re-order at the price we payed. If they can cancel an order then they can easily give a discount code to those who've bought a now unnecessary dongle for £45/50euro.

I welcome the USB feature but I don't welcome being sold something for £45 that today I no longer need.
👎

Please send us a discount code so we can re-order or simply refund 50euro and don't send the dongle.

Interesting, it says under previous orders that order status is delievered, but I don't see the wheel in my hands. Where is it delievered then?

Probably means they've handed it over to the courier and have no way of tracking it in their system past that point.

I got an email today saying that they won't be able to start putting the wheels together until oct 10th because of a chinese holiday.

It looks like beating the forza 3 release date might not happen. Really though I've waited so long now that it doesn't matter anymore. Shift is keeping me entertained enough that another month isn't that big of a deal to me.

My second review video of the Beta wheel is now filmed......I'm in the process of uploading, editing etc and should have it on youtube by tonight.

Bevo isn´t it easy to be patient when you already got a beta wheel on it´s way :)
Shift is decent but it won´t hold one month more for me even.

I said it before and it´s really a PR disaster. What do you think all those that ordered the Turbo S for Forza 3 think when they don´t have it at launch date? Being an official wheel for Forza 3 and all they have all the right to be pissed. There was a long time ago the Turbo S was announced and preorders accepted.

I can survive because I am quite busy anyway but I really hope Fanatec is more real about their product launches in the future. And don´t give launch dates they know before hand there is no realistic chance at all they can keep unless they move production to Germany perhaps ;)

I guess you got me there with the beta wheel. I've been thinking about it more though, and I think the reason that the fanatec wheel has been so hard on everyone is because of all the info thomas has given us about it. Most companies would never, ever give us updates on production status, or tell us that components were bad so they will have to delay the production. Other companies would have just not said a thing, and would have not given us a release date until the wheels were shipped. They would have jsut said they are coming sometime in late 2009.

The way fanatec keeps giving us all these detail kind of makes us feel like we are involved more with this wheel then for example the G27. Look how logitech handled it. We didn't see any real pictures of it until a few months before it's release. With the turbo s wheel we have seen vidoes from a year ago with it working with forza 2.

I think that maybe us as consumers are not ready to have to deal with all of the set backs that come along with designing a first of it's kind product(works on all current platforms). I for one was expecting the wheel to get to people before the forza 3 release, but if fanatec would have kept us in the dark like any other company would have, then we would all not be as frustrated as we are now.

It has been really fun though to wait on the turbo s wheel. I feel like we have been able to watch a product go from an idea to a finished product for the first time. By getting the emails, watching the videos, and being given reasons for the delays, it has really made me feel like fanatec cares about their customers, and actually worries about us having to wait. It really seems like they are doing everything they can to get us these wheels as fast as they can. I can't imagine how stressed out thomas is with this whole process. We get stressed out just waiting on the wheel, imagine if you were the one trying to get what is probably the most important product you have ever made out to the consumer, before the big games release.

I think the biggest problem with the whole thing was letting people pre order the wheel so soon. A Year is a long time to wait on something you paid 400$ for up front. I for one though am glad they did cause it saved me a fair amount of money.

Yes there is always this balance quality versus cost ;). Higher quality wheel performs better and last longer but the initial investment is higher.

I would think better payed german employees would put more love in their labor :)
