I finally beat the GT 125 Kart Championship.. my GOSH was it annoying! I'm using a Dualshock 3 controller and when I drive cars I usually use the right analog stick for the gas/brake and the shoulder buttons for shifting.. well.. I decided to treat the karts like an arcade game so I put the transmission on automatic and assigned the gas/brake to L2 R2 like I use in NFS games.. I adjusted the transmission for each track to give me more speed in the longer tracks and faster acceleration on the smaller ones and was able to come in first in the first two races and I gave up winning the 3rd race in the GT arena.. I try to drive hard but be gentle as to not spin out and maybe my L2 R2 triggers are too sensitive because I have to be so gentle with the gas... of all the hand holding PD does with us in GT6 they decided to make skid recover force unavailable for the karts??? whyyyyy??? I cannot slide because half the time I spin out.. ARGH!! but I beat the championship and I doubt I'll ever play these stupid kart races ever again. YUCK!! :yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:
You still don't have a star if you haven't won the last race on GT Arena. :sly:
Be gentle, stay on the driving line. DO NOT slide. Do not enter a corner too fast if you are not sure that you'll keep your kart on the line.
I also advise using a manual transmission (gas/brake with R2/L2 and shift with the right stick), it will give you more control.

I usually use a DF GT wheel, but I also won the last 125cc kart race with a Dualshock 3, just to check if it's possible or not. And believe me, it is. To be honest - I did it with the second attempt. I messed up once, but next time I was first on the 6th lap. It wasn't hard for me.

I Forgot to tell you that I have complete the game, I used Toyota 7 because it is cheaper than 2j and won the races easily. I use ds3 (planning to buy one) so thanks everyone and post any more tips for these races as you wish for anyone who wants help.

I'm not sure why people insist on tinkering with cars etc for one series racing, it's not difficult you just have to do things you should do in a racing game. Learn how to get the most from the car/kart and learn the tracks :)

The only advice people should be getting is practice more! :)

Don't remind me of that missing star... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :irked:

I did assign the manual trans to the face buttons but it felt so weird shifting with my thumb.. I guess I could keep practicing but.. I HATE IT!! haah man I hate the karts so much   but thank you for the info! 👍 I will try the right stick for manual shifting.

The Historic cup was frustrating with the GT40 AE fully tuned, didn't tune the suspension (dumb idea, needed to soften up the rear) had to spend some time trying to cycle through till there wasn't the 2j or the Toyota 7,

The kart race was simple, I used no tuning setups, and I used Manual Transmission. For the Historic Racing Car event, I used the 15th Anniversary Cobra D.C. I had to cut corners, but it was worth it. I did not want any Toyota 7's or Chapparal 2J's for Cote D Azur. For Apricot Hill and Silverstone, I was OK with 2J's. Cut corners, win. It may not be right, but worth it.

I did the Historic Race Cup with the Toyota 7 the first time around. I just tried it again with the Charger Race Car '70. The car can win stock if there is no 7 or 2j in the line up. If there is you need to drop in the supercharger.
Here is the last lap at Silverstone. One toyota 7 and two 2js in the lineup... :-)
Charger has the supercharger, full downforce and transmission set to 300kph

Probably the hardest race on the game.
First sort the balance out by putting 5Kg of Ballast at the front -50. This will give the front end grip and allow you to ride the kerbs(don't accelerate on them). And get rid of the understeer on fast corner entry

Gears
Max Speed 124
Ratios
3.056 (get though it quickly so you don't lose time on changes, only used at start)
1.926
1.410 (you need theres a bit longer so you don't lose traction on last corner)
1.134
1.002
0.850 (6th not used)
Final 4.620( don't ever change this as it changes the way the kart accelerates)

Get into the habit of briefly steering in the opposite direction before turning into a long corner to set up a bit of drift much easier when the weight distribution is 49:51 better to have a heavier more driveable kart than a rocket ship you can't! Sorry about the Tamla motown and q's just ask!

I made a video here if it helps where I win by a lap and get gold

All I can suggest is the Toyota 7 Race Car for the Historic Racing Car Cup. It is so crazy fast getting up to speed and handles well. Yes- save up your money and get that car if you want the best chance at victory in that series. I saved up my Credits for this one much like I saved up Credits to get that Ford GT40 for the Classic Muscle Series. Only thing to be wary of with the Toyota 7 Race Car is that its top speed tops out at around 189 mph or so. So for longer and faster tracks, adjust the transmission settings to go faster on longer tracks- such as Circuit de la Sarthe and any track utilizing the Nordschleife.

As for the 125 Shifter Kart series, all I can say is... keep mistakes to a minimum. Drive consistently. I actually skipped that series after an epic fail at the Streets of Willow Springs event.

Now go win some races! :) You can do it, mate! 👍

Anyone with trouble with the kart races your prayers have been answered lol. Now with SRF/TCS available it's easy. Took me about 50 tries to gold the last shifter race now with those aids I just did it on first try having not done 'karting' in a few weeks. You turn it up high enough you won't even spin at all.

I've only attempted this event post 1.05 (plus 2 hotfixes) and managed to beat each race quite easily. Admittedly I did overhaul the engine to massage up the BHP/PP, with SRF on and TC set to 1 but even so it really wasn't that difficult compared to the previous karting challenges. I know... SRF is cheating but I won each event with a comfortable second and a bit lead.

After reading previous posts, I figure its one of the undocumented changes that have made the game even easier to play?
