As for normal cars the escudo or some F1 cars can do it..i think ive gotten as low as 8.4 seconds......if youre talkin hybrids than all bets are off....haha

ha, you obviously dont have any F1's or even a tuned race car. Even a Skyline should get below 9 if your getting the time you did with a Viper.

Try taking some 4WD race cars and putting 1,000hp. I think the WRX LM can get around 975hp

RUF RGT i can get around 8.9. I just put the spring rate all the way down and ride height all the way up. Eveything under that I put all the way down. Also start in 2nd gear and put super soft tires on it. I'm sure theirs better settings but I was just messing around.

But F1s I got 8.7 with one of them.

I dont really see why people do drag racing or quarter mile testing.

I just never really saw anything about it that interest me and in the game there isnt really much to gain from it...

So... I ask why do you guys do it?

I would guess there are possible advatages with testing and experimenting with settings.

Just when you get bored of racing its fun to mess with this stuff. Same with drifting, its just fun to me.

That is actually a better answer than anyone could give.

Sure try some sort of technically advantagous crap, but that thing you said about just plain fun... that should sum up the entire game.

Well said.

Usually when I set up a car and have modded it quite a bit I take it to the 1000m test. I do some minor adjustments to the gear ratios and get it doing its fastest 1000m run.

I also do the 400m because that is the same as 1/4 mile. I read ALOT of car magazines and they always test the 1/4 mile acceleration of a car. I know the general 1/4 mile time of, realistically, hundreds of cars. When I do the 0-400m test, I can compare my tuned car to cars in real life. I know its just a game, but so far I have never been extremely shocked and the 0-400m times are always very believable. The only thing I've noticed is that in an untuned or brand new car, the 0-400m seems pretty slow. Like a Supra RZ gets around 14.9 right out of the Car Dealer. A real Supra does the 1/4 mile in about 13.4 seconds.

You can also watch the replay and pause right when the car hits 60mph. I have found the 0-60 times of many cars to be VERY close to what I would guess, and what they would be in real life.

I actually think that the qtr. mile time might be off simply because of the slippage that occurs when you hit the accelarator hard.

I also did notice the stuff you were talking about, but I noticed it back in gt1 and 2.

I personally think this is just another example of what a great game gt is.

Long live gt.

And guys, before you get too mad about the times being off, realize that it is 400M...M = meters...meters != miles...er...getting codey again.

Its 400 meters, which is a little bit over a 1/4 mile, so the times should be a little higher. Yes, 1.5 seconds is a little high of a difference, but Id expect somewhere around a .75 second buffer for the times...it is, after all, not perfect...

no, 400m is a quarter of a mile, i believe...although i'm not american, so i'll leave the quarter mile up to you. ;)

here's the conversion

1000m = 1km = 0.621371192237334mile

400m = 0.4km = 0.2485484768949336mile<0.25mile

So if you really want to compare, 400m is 7.66ft shorter than 1/4 mile.

Just got bored... don't hammer me for this..:p

So that should make the times slightly faster, albeit not by any margin that couldnt be gobbled up by a negligible amount of rpms past redline in any given gear.

Once again, an example of a sentence that has exceeded its information capacity!

So this would mean that the difference would be less than .1 of a second wouldn't it.

MY TOP 1/4 MILE TIMES
TSC TURNED OFF

- Pagani Zonda C12S (1100hp+) :: 00:08.998
- Lotus Esprit V8 SE (1050hp+) :: 00:09.051
- RUF RGT (1077?hp) :: 00:09.122
- RUF CTR2 (880hp+) :: 00:09.156?

Those are my best times so far.
I don't use TCS or ASM either (as i said above).

My R34 Victory Specification I and II (or V-Spec and V-Spec II) cars are sitting in the 00:09.3xx range too, after a Mitsubishi GTO or Tommy Kaira ZZII.
I'd try out more cars but my PS2 isn't working.

this usually involves tuning cars to 1000hp +... which i dont do.
dragging aint my chosen sport.
:P
I did get high 8s i think in a rgt a while back tho

I wish you couldn't use TCS/ASM on the 1/4 mile.

I just think it's cheating.

my hit list is
Escudo 8.438 and 8.509
Ruf RGT 8.764
F687/s 8.3??
Thats all I have got right now below 9. I have a ton of junk running 9.0 to 9.7.... 9's are easy I want to see some 7'S!!!!! I have a friend running 8.3?? in the cudo also but still no 7's!!! Thats my GT3 goal.... and to finish the other 3.5% :lol:

I don't like tuning cars because tuning them back is a problem for me. ;)

I heard someone a while ago say they could get a 7 second 1/4 mile with the xj220 race version, I've never gotten enev close to that with that car.

I can get 8 second runs with the supra, nissan, and 9 seconds with about any other car.

Just don't save after you have drag raced and then when you come back your settings won't have changed from normal..... and it doesn't add days to your record that way..... just always make sure that if you do any other racing first, save and then take the memory card out...

Thats exactly what I do. Or you could first save the settings then mess around with them. Then when u want to do a race just re load the settings.
