And the secret behind my 72" screen

how much does something like that cost. i've seen a 84 inch for 200 i think (not completely sure) but the only problem with those is if someone walks in front of the projector.

They arent measured in inches, it can make from like 32 to 300 inches (25 feet), you choose whatever size you want as long as it fits in the room and the projector can be far enough from the screen.

This one was $1060 but MSRP is $2250 so it was a great deal, the cheapest ones are $999 but this is is WAY better for just $60 more.

I'd be happy with a 50". For the size of my living room anything bigger would be stupid, and that might even be too big.

Why get a 50" TV when for less than half the price you can get any size you want, at a much better image quality, and the ability to change the image size at any time.

Did you know the optimal viewing distance is 1.5 times the screen size?

So with a 50" you have to be pretty close, I sit 9 feet away of my 72".

That much for a 72inch? They were talking about 72inchers on TechTV awhile back but the ones they were showing costed over $20k.

We have a 35", and it's perfectly fine. Those >50" screens are blinding (then again, I'm typing this on a wee 12" LCD monitor, so I'm used to small screens).

"I'm wondering how clear the picture is with one of these things?"

FAR clearer than any TV, the resolution is much higher than a TV, DVDs are unbeleivable on this thing and only use 40% of the quality it can make, to use the full quality I would need HDTV which is 6 times DVD quality.

Click the link in the bottom of my top post, its not a TV, its cheaper, bigger, and much betetr image quality than a TV.

Whats his budget? My $1060 Sharp PG-A10X is amazing, but works best if used with an HTPC, if you wont be using an HTPC or a high quality DVD player, you might want too look at other models.

We have a 65" Wide-screen HDTV non-projection TV and it is gigantic. Projection TV's are crap compared to non-projection. The color is terrible, if there is a wind, you're screwed. They are low quality and annoying with static. And as for projection, we have a 120" screen and I'm not sure of the projector, I'll check later. It's ok, at best.

Is your 65" a plasma? What technology is it? Because at that size I think theres only plasma in non projection TVs, and i agree projection TVs looks terrible.

We are re-painting and touching up the basement at the moment and were looking at getting a projector for it when we are done, it is $1200 with the screen but we are getting it for $900 cause the wall is just fine, it has a 800 x 600 resolution and is HDTV capable. One of my Dads buddies got one of those and the picture can go to 12' and still looks amazing at the right viewing distance, even on a normal wall. Otherwise we were looking at a 51-52" Projection Srceen cause anything bigger and it would not fit down the stairs. My friends dad got a 72" Projection Screen TV that was made by Mitsubishi, though i do not know the cost.

Those were brand new plasma and LCD screens. ;)

Whoch projector is it? I think its definalty worht the $100 more to get the 1024x768 that I have, it makes a huge difference, 800x600 looks like crap next to it, not to mention is 3 times brighter than others in this price range so you can watch it in daylight, the others require total darkness.

I believe it is a Clarion, they have it at Sam's Club and Circuit City.

Get the Sharp PG-A10X instead, its 1300 lumens, no rainbow effect, 1024x768, one of the best bulb lifes available at 4500 hours, most others are only 1000-2000 which can end up costing a fortune in operating costs.

Yes that is what my Dad's friend said, that would be great if the bulbs lasted longer. Where did you get yours from? I am uber-cheap and look for the best deal on anything.
