Tripod slipped a little but still pretty ok 1080p quality.

No driving aids, stock turbo.

Right, Since a friend of mine needed help with this challenge, I decided to give him a nice tune, that would not only make the car less understeery but also quite playful. You might not like this setup, you might love it, the only wait to find out is to try it.

After some more careful testing, I am now lapping mid 1;34's, a high 33 is possible

Awesome tune m8! really the best in here. Need some balls when braking and steering in. Just dit a 7.54 min. Beat him by 6s.

Well, I finally beat it after hours of aggravation.

I used Grey's tune, and can answer the question of how the heck to beat this. Brake earlier than you would in most cars (but not too early), let the car drift through the turn until you can cross the apex, and then smash through full throttle. Basically, I found this to be all about hitting the apex perfectly. On my winning set of laps, I was downright cutting corners with two wheel in the dirt. Slow in fast out has never been more appropriate. Ended up winning by 3 seconds.

Also, some people can only put the 4wd at 35/65. The reason is that you haven't bought the upgraded part, and you CANNOT buy it in the car's tuning screen. You have to go to the shop itself. I think it's a glitch.

I used this but made a few changes (in bold) also the car was brand new thats why the power level is 89.1% . I won by 1.xxx secs after cutting the inside of the final turn and swapped paint with the 1st place car.

Looking forward to trying all these tunes on the new seasonals. Didn't really have the time yet to get into them, only had a quick look at the Subaru race. Bought a new one from the dealer, and then removed weight and added parts to still meet the requirements (didn't include any turbo), and did one race. And what can I say? I wasn't able to drive the damn thing. I went off the road in almost every turn. All I managed was a 1:46. So I guess I gotta shave off at least another 10 seconds of that lap. Then again, if I could just manage to stay on the road.

Finally done, passed the Skyline after the corkscrew. Fastest lap was 1:34.4. Greycap's tune works wonders.

That better than the others I've tried. I got 2nd, beat I. Ordonez haha. I'm still not getting below 1:36 though. Is it true that the best driving is when you have minimized tire.squeal? Obviously choose best lines and corner correctly, but what about that tire squeal? I just cant get 1:34's.

Try to cut the apex more aggressively. Specifically, closer. That's what got me into the 34's. Focus on coming out of the corner faster than you would in most cars.

Gold finally! After 4 hours of tuning I really wish I could ring up Kaz and say thank you for a proper challenge!

This was a great base. I tweaked it a bit here and there to suit my style. This is what really brought me down to 1:34.7xx lap times. That and good old fashioned practice. It really helps to know your points. My thumb can barely move.

One more thing that I dont think would hurt to add - get all three engine stages. You can tune down but you keep all the torque. I was running around 463. And my PP was 533. Every bit counts

I managed 5th, with 1:36 lap times using the blitz setup haha, guna try this one now!

Don't buy any weight mods 'cept the Weight reduction 1, 2, 3 to give 1251kg.

If you up the power above 394, you can use the power limiter to trim it back! (Go into "settings" in practice mode to fiddle with it prior to starting the event)

Took me several attempts to beat it, I changed camber to 2.0/1.0 and altered rear suspension height to -10 (which is the front, since the settings are known to be in reverse) - The torque split diff is also very useful as it allows you to get some nice rearward oversteer instead of the rigid understeer. You also MUST not go off the track, as this event more than any other then removed a tonne of grip in your subsequent corners.

Managed 1:33.9 a few times, but basically if you can keep consistent 1:35.0 laps, you will pass the M.N.P Skyline right at the end. Throw in a few 1:34s for some comfort. I've done it twice now on my two PSN accounts - the 2nd time I passed the skyline on the outside of the final turn - the AI really slow up and let you through once you get along side, which is a shame - would have been nice to have battled to the line

All in all, brilliant events, best specials by far - but yeah - truly challenging.

Exactly 👍

Ahhhh. Finally did it after an awful long time trying. Used Greycaps tune, with added aero upgrades, but I don't think there is a 'magic' tune; you just have to concentrate REALLY hard. One thing I would recommend is using the pit exit on the first corner, particularly on lap 3, where I kept running into two cars together right on the apex of turn 1. In the first lap break at the third cone from the end, and just before the fourth cone on every other lap. This should get you down to 35-45 mph, enough to make the turn.

Other than that, I found I just had to be careful with when I put the power down- to early, you won't make the turn, to late and your too slow. A touch of TC might help with this perhaps. I don't rate myself as a great driver so I'm sure this can be done far quicker, but these were my lap times:

1:36.520
1:35.814
1:36.359
1:35.343
1.34.727

This was enough for me to take 1st on the final corner, and no, I don't know what happened on the final lap, guess I just couldn't face doing it again lol. Good luck!

My advice to anyone struggling with this challenge: stay out of the sand. It seems PD has implemented dirt pick-up on this challenge. If you go through the sand your tires will loose grip for a few corners before retaining maximum grip as the dirt cleans off, just like real life.

This has been in the game since day 1. "Grip Reduction" can be set to low or real. This event is set at Real. But I agree, cutting the corkscrew actually slows you down overall.

Yeah I think it is more pronounced and lasts longer now than before overall no matter the settings. I like it.

The practice is finally paying off...got super close to the leader, lost by 0.667 seconds...almost pulled all my hair off..oh well back to the action.:scared:

EDIT:I`ve done ittttttt!!!!!!!!! Thanks you guys, wonderful suggestions, you just earned me the 787b Mazda, woooo hoooo!!Can`t believe it!!
And thanks PD too for this great set of seasonals.

Now if I could only win Tsukuba:dopey:

I loved this challenge, although it wasn't THAT hard.... It took me 4 tries. I adjusted the Gearratio and the suspension a bit that was it. The key is just to get used to the sport-tyres and drive smooth with a steady momentum.

I think most people struggle, because they use racing tyres most of the time. So do I. I found the sports tyres require more patience. The weighttransfer seems to take more time. The car needs to have more time to stabalise in order to be steered in the right direction. Once you got the feel of the sport-tyres it's actually pretty easy.

i used ugabugaz setup with 82 rear and 12 front and did it with almost 3 sec from the second!!!!not an easy challenge...

Here's my settings if anyone wants to check 'em out. Settings used in that vid above. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=207762

No aids- No ABS, and no oil change in a long time (old car), and probably could tune in more power with turbos and whatnot.. probably could get more power with an engine overhaul and better handling with body overhaul-- But still, it's pretty easy to drive, with a G25 anyway.

(everything upgraded and/or default adjustment if not shown- like diffs etc)

You're very welcome! Glad I helped you out.

Oh and guys, Don't try and use my tune outside Laguna Seca. It will scare the hair off of you, trust me. I took my Subbie to the ring and let's just say it was a handful heh. Still, it's excellent on Laguna Seca and that's all that matters.

I don't know, but while it's not that easy, it didn't really need all the tuning parts to be completed (or a suspension set-up at all)

I added all removable engine upgrades, but no stage-tuning or turbos. This brings you up to 396 bhp, 2 more than allowed - restricted it down. Also added clutch, flywheel & propeller shaft.

Did not need to install any weight reductions or even buy a new suspension. No racing transmission needed either.

If you stay on the racing line, and not run wide entering the corners, this is very doable.

You need to catch up about 10 seconds per lap to the leader.

I did it with the ds3 with greycap's tune the other day. I changed the torque split to 50/50 to make it have less understeer. I couldnt figure out why everyone was say it was very oversteerish. Then i went to beat it at my friends house. He has the wheel. OHH what a difference. I had to change back the torque split.

I saw that video in here and I COULD NOT get my car to dump or burn out the same with the ds3 (a programmed limit on steer and throttle maybe). But with the wheel in acts just as i saw, with lots more input. i beat it easier but that could be from the practice from mine.

YES!!! did it, I used greycap's tune with torque split to 40:60 and a bit of a stockcar-tactic ^^

Cheats:

  • Pit Lane first corner
  • Restart race HP glitch
  • Corkscrew cutting
  • Bumping in tight corners

I did it the wrong, dirty and non-GT Planet way... Got 1st place in corkscrew, won by ~5 seconds with the time 7:55.xxx

Ahh, the "greasy pig" challenge - I had a real hard time with this one too, with a new car and only the amount of tunes necessary to hit the limits I was only able to get 1:37's. I decided to get out the fully tuned one I already prepped for the snow rally and detuned it, I got 1:36's. After an hour or so I got all the way to the back end of the lead skyline but could quite get past him in time.

So I painted the car Red and it won, after all everyone knows red cars are faster!

Only joking, I used a lot of cars as cornering barriers and mobile braking points and fluked a win, and lead by 3 seconds at the end of the race. I found that an 20/80 torque split helped, as did lift-off oversteering before the corners to overcome the understeer under powered cornering. I also don't have the rear wing added to this one, so may have helped bring the back end out, although I don't know how much that would have helped.

I FINNALLY DID IT! Holy crap those events were pretty awesome. Prizes - C5R, Lister V12 Race Car and Panoz Esperante. Kinda bummers about the second two, but I'll live.
