that subaru is garbage... worst steering I've seen yet.

Edit: I give up, can't turn anything better than a 1:36... never buying a subaru in gt5... in fact I may just go ahead and sell anything 4WD and rally related just for spite.

Looks like it's impossible. This is the worst car ever. It doesn't even turn.

To all claiming this car can't turn. Put more traction on rear wheels: I did it with 35/65

Ok ppl I have put all 3 tuned cars that I have used to gold these events and receive the sweet prizes online. If u want to add me and borrow them my ID is my name.

No, I agree - you have to tune Sti for win, no way that even can be won with stock car. But both Elise and F500 are more than doable.

Since understeer is your worst enemy in this race, you have to combat it trough 3 factors: suspension, brake bias and centre differential.

I won with 390HP/1286kg car with just sports suspension and default differential.

Here are the most imporant settings for reducing understeer (and getting oversteer which is very welcomed on Laguna Seca):

> centre differential 35F/65R (essential)
> springrate 8.0F/7.4R
> dampers 1F/2R
> camber 1.7F/0.7R (essential)
> brake bias 2/5 (essential)

👍
DID IT!!!
after 1:30 hours i finally beat this challenge!! i used your settings, they were pretty good.

was by 3.x seconds.

And won the peugeot 908 HDI Fap 👍👍

I was using Greycap's tune and was having no luck getting consistent times, usually ending up 3rd or 4th, but then I just switched to the stock suspension and got gold on the first try.

This was for me too, must be just styles of driving and controller etc.
After tuning my scooby to a complete mess I went back to the dealer and bought a fresh one and did as little as possible to it, sports suspension, no turbo and only stage two lightening. Car was much more consistent and golded on my second attempt. The trick I found was to KEEP OFF the dirt! :scared:

My fully tuned Scooby seems to be missing an additional 10 pp. Would that really make that much of a difference? Best i've been able to achieve in this race is third and that was using one of the tunes on here, maybe with a few tweaks of my own, if forget it was so long ago. Thoughts?

I just won by 3.9 seconds with a DS3. Slow in, fast out really is key here. Took me three tries, lap times in the low 35's. I had a huge problem with oversteer as with most, tried using stock suspension and that didn't work for my style of driving. What was key for me was minor improvements in stock suspension and using the stock differentials, that helped a LOT with oversteer.

My setup:

Weight reduction stage 3
Rear wing : 15
ECU tune
Sports Intake
Racing Air Filter
Sports Exhaust Manifold
Sports Catalytic Converter
Titanium Racing Exhaust
Twin Plate Clutch
Semi-racing Flywheel
Carbon Driveshaft
Center Diff : 35:65
Fully Customizable Trans
1rst : 3.967
2nd : 2.789
3rd : 2.089
4th : 1.636
5th : 1.340
6th : 1.147
Final: 4.032
Top Speed : 149

Suspension
Height 0/0 f/r
Spring 4.7/5.3
Damper Ext 3/2
Damper Comp 5/4
Anti roll 3/1
Camber (-) 1.5/0.5
Toe -0.10/0.10

Brakes 9/8 f/r

After a little more tweaking and racing, I managed to get second (6sec behind first).

I had all the upgrades, then just power and weight limited it. Set the wing to 20, the suspension height to -15, the transmission to 220 km/h, and the differential to 20/80. Everything else was standard values, I think. You can probably use any of the setups shown here, just remember to set the transmission to the maximum speed you will go (in my case, it was 220 km/h down the main straight).

Not sure how I can shave another 6 seconds off my total time. Maybe it's just a matter of learning when to accelerate out of the tight corners (corkscrew and the final corner). I'm going to put it aside for a while.

I'll share all my cars/setups for those on my friends list...

Finally beat it!

All lap times where in the 1:35's passed on final corner (took the outside even)

btw, does Polyphony Digital never want ppl to buy a Subaru!?!? Cause after plowing around Laguna for an hour I don't think I'd ever buy another one! :lol

Real Subarus don't come with wooden tires, or understeer that dramatically.

:tup:agree!!

It took me about an hour on this one, but actually found it to be very fun after the first 20 minutes of fighting with the car. Once you gain the understanding of how the car handles it isn't "that bad". It really takes some patience and self control to not barrel into the turns. Like mentioned before, early braking and very early turning is a huge key.

Wow, I take back my previous post. In desperation, I tried setting the ABS from 1 to 4, and cut 1.5 seconds A LAP from my times (went from 35.5s to low 34s). Bumping up ABS allows trail-braking (braking later and staying on the brakes while entering the corner) and prevents the car from plowing as much when you brake.

If anyone else is having issues beating this and has tried everything, try turning up your ABS. It did wonders for me 👍

I thought the Subaru was a good car. :)

Me too.

I really started to enjoy this challenge once I'd applied Greycap's build. Simply, you need to put in a 1:36 and four 1:35s and you're done. That means 5 decent, clean laps, without putting a wheel on the grass. The only place I could reliably put a wheel off the track, was clipping the left-hander on the way up the hill to the corkscrew. Anything else and the tyres stop gripping and you loose too much time.

Everything that is hard about this challenge is solely to do with the tyres. If people were allowed to throw on some SS tyres, then nobody would be talking about it. Well played PD :sly:

PS - You can, if you're really struggling, install a spoiler but only set the downforce to 5. I initially completed this challenge in a car I'd already installed a spoiler on, unfortunately you can't uninstall one without going to the Auto shop, which I couldn't be arsed to do.

The downforce will induce a touch more understeer, but provided you brake early enough, this isn't a problem and it does mean you can get on the power a fraction earlier exiting a corner without the fear that the rear will let go. I suspect anything above 5 will prove too much. I believe the car works better without any aero, however I have completed the challenge with and without, so....

I did it with ds3... Very hard! And won clk race car (i bought one just before 50% ocd discount and now i have double :(.. and paid twice

I think this is one of the most easy events...
Maybe because I did 50+ laps on the Nordschleife with this car, I'm used to it by now.

Already beaten, but I'm curious about this, I'll give it a try.

this car handles like a cow... :censored:you Subaru

in Gt5 I'll never touch that car again :irked:

Fully upgrade it and put some racing tires on it and go online with it. You will change your tune.

YES i finally nailed it finally, I kept getting around 1.35 - 1.36 lap times but this time i got 1.34's and won it by 4 seconds!

I have a bond with this subaru now

BTW i used blueshift's tune only i put the brakes up to 8/8 and the abs on 7

I hope I am not too late to help someone, I just got gold in this today after a few frustrated attempts a few days ago. I had a few 1:35s and 1:36s, even a 1:38 on a mistake but had a 1:33.9 in the end! I overtook for P1 in the exit of the penultimate corner and I just coasted as I quickly got a 3s lead by the line.

-Add front splitter and rear wing. Wing set at 10.
-Stage 3 weight reduction and then added 14kg of ballast, all to the rear of the car.
-Turbo 2, ECU and other stuff. My car was around 500HP so I set the Power Limiter to 393HP (as after a couple of tries your engine breaks in and has more power).
-Your choice of 6-speed or fully customizable, set to top speed of about 260km/h (140mph)
-Fully adjustable LSD, don't change anything except for Differential at 35/65. Suspension with all default settings except for ride height (5,-15), rear spring 1 point less than front, so your rear is softer.
- Brakes as 2 and 6.

The key is to really brake well and not turn in too early, and be patient to only use the throttle when the car is properly lined up to exit the corner. I just went with that and won using just the DualShock 3 however I am unhappy that I again won a car I already own, grr! :P I spent all that money on the Toyota GT-One... and I just recently exchanged 2 gift cards (1,000km, Lv23) for an old Integra and Jeff Gordon's Nascar. Soooo unhappy!

Edit: If anyone wants, add me on PSN and I'll make my cars available for each of the events as I had them set. I race on Manual gears with ABS set to 1, all rest off.

I don't remember my time, but I did gold it with the best lap time being around 1:35 to 1:34

Anyone with hatred against this car.... take the stock version to the Nordschliefe for some time trials.
Best car I've ever driven down there :)

It must be something with the settings they force on you or something, they DO NOT handle like that in real life.

I will now attempt this with all of my other accounts so I can hopefully get a proper car from the gift ticket! I got it with one already, I actually was able to pass for 1st at the Cork Screw and just cruised to win, fastest lap was 1:34.1, I CANNOT redo my 1:33!

PS: Hating all of these challenges again though I find the Subaru fun now as I know how it behaves. I guess trying to do the Drift Trial really helped!

Have only took a few stabs at it, hoping to grab gold with the Lotus before I go full bore. I am looking forward to it though - a different beast, but loved my Imp in the rally events.
