I made it after 3 hours of restarts and tuning. I used Rotary Junkie's tune (thanks by the way) and although I found it a bit extreme (50-50 torque distribution which is a setup I really hate) after the 2nd try I found that I could get easily high 34's and low 35's without really trying. I was always conservative coming in the turns because sand traps are a serious lap-killer in Laguna Seca and overtook the final Skyline at the last corner.

P.S. It is really irritating reading about those people who find it sooooooooo easy ...

BWX

Tripod slipped a little but still pretty ok 1080p quality.

No driving aids, stock turbo.

This guy I believe! 👍
Good recoveries BTW...

Damn how can I find 4 seconds and a half I am goinf as fast as I can =/

Same here, I'm killing myself on these. The first 2 challenges I did fine in, but this guy I can't get to accelerate for it's life. I got the gear ratio set real high to get close to as much acceleration as I can, but I simply can't find the speed.

I'm using Rotary Junkies set up right now.

Try my settings if you want. I found that the real key to this event is the maximum amount of late braking possible. That and some shameful cutting lol. But hey, I needed my revenge for getting two cars that I already had for the other two tickets lol.

This seasonal is the best way to start hating both the Scooby and Laguna Seca!

👍

im only able to get 4th :yuck: that car SUX dosent help that i cant tune(tryed everyones no luck) looks like i wont be getting the extra 600k+ for top 3 or the ticket...

ill go cry in the corner now :nervous:

I'm a DS3 user by the way. I got 5th the first time I tried this. Finished, 5th, about +14.5 seconds down the 1st place car. Couple of attempts later, I got it down to +4.5 seconds down the 1st place car, and this time finished 2nd. I already have an STi '10 that's fully tuned so I just adjusted it the easy way with help from the power limiter and the weight ballast option. I didn't have a custom wing on it, but I might buy one for it now. It'll probably help more so.

The car suffers from monster understeer, so braking early and just gliding through the corners help. I was running mid-1:36s on the race when I got second, with my fastest lap in the low 1:35s.

The bare minimal is if you continuously run laps well below 1:36, you should be able to take first place around the last two corners. It helps if your first lap runs below 1:37.5xx. I'll try some of the set-ups posted here.

i managed to get this one on my second attempt (first attempt with stock suspension) using rotary junkies tune (cheers mate) and overtook on the final straight.. It wasn't too bad if you stay on the track (lol) and glide through corners.. understeer is very managable with RJ's tune.. parts as per greycap post #35 in this thread..

I knew i had 1st covered from about half way through the last lap.. just had to stay clean..

my 3 cars are shared if people want to use them.. (the_unnamed_one) I won a 908LM, ford GT lm spec 2, nascar.......

3rd attempt. Although first 2 were quits halfway through due to driver errors. But I won by 5 seconds with a DS3.

1st lap: 1min 36s+
The rest of the laps: 1min 35s+

That should be sufficient enough to get gold.

I only get 2nd because 3 of my laps are 1min 36s.

It's not the car, it's the garbage tires you're forced to use. If you could bump it to Sports Soft it'd be trivial by comparison

You can drive as fast as you can, but it will not help you unless you slow down enough for the corners. If after turn 2, on laguna, you are not with or past the first car, stop there and firgure out how slow you need to be in the corners to constantly keep gaining or moving foward. The more you slide the less momentum you will have. All the speed you had up till the turn will not matter cause you blow it losing foward motion. Reguardless of the tune the tire can only handle so much. This is about the only advise i can give thatll truely help
first laps with 1.36 (maybe low 1.37) then low 1.35 will get it. if you have a 34 in there with the other times your golden

I used Greycap's Settings, with just a little added braking (cause I suck at it).

Took me a good 3 hours. My problem is I know where I want to go, it is just getting my brain and body to make the car go that way.

I have a new found respect for Laguna Seca. The frustration led to eventually enjoyment. Would love to race there in real life some day. I feel like I know it like the back of my hand now... ha.. :dopey:

From my just completed win on the Scuby race, this is good advice.

I wanted to win it without the adjustable torque differential and did, but had to use the full adjust suspension.

All of my failed attempts were from the overwhelming tendency to brake too late and get in the corners too hot.
Along with getting full on the gas too quick, these mistakes are costly.

Along with the Fiat race I think this one has less room for error than the Lotus race, which seemed the easiest.

Really enjoyed these races. Good challenge.

These are the lap times I had, and the setup I used when I golded it today:
lap 1: 1:36.789
Lap 2: 1:35.616
Lap 3: 1:35.388
Lap 4: 1:34.681
Lap 5: 1:35.9xx

Aero: 5
Ballast: 14kg moved as far back as possible
High RPM turbo
Set the transmission so you use high rev range = longer ratios in the first gears, closer ratios in the higher gears. 230 km/h (234 km/h MAX)

LSD: default
Ride height F&R -15 mm
Spring rate: F8,2 R10,3
Dampers: 5,5,5,5
Anti rollbars: F2 R4
Camber angle: F1,5 R1,0
Brake balance: F7 R5
TC: 2
All others off.
Steering sensitivity 7

I felt the car was understeering quite alot, but after these small fixes it was alot better.

I finally golded this event after a little over an hour of trying using m-Simm's tune. definitely very difficult, by the end i was able to run about a 1:34:4 for my quickest lap. I hope they keep adding these events in addition to the regular seasonals, I like the challenge

I found this too easy, I done without altering the setup at all expect the brake bias and transmission.

Have to agree with Jamie.
I passed the first place car in the second half of the last lap. I don't mess with tuning. Just set the car to the weight and power and race suspension.
Running steady mid to high 1.34's.

I really like these expert events. Finally I can't use stock vehicles which are usually good to win anything.
Had to set this sti to the specs allowed. Stock I only finished 5-th.

You can win both F500 and Elise events with 100% stock car (no oil change, just engine broke-in to spec power).

Nice to know. You might just be one of those really talented guys though :)
At least in the Sti event I could not do high 1.34's in a stock car which are needed to pass the GTR in the last lap.

Same here made 4th, but I think a perfect race will get me 3rd, not sure how long it will take to get a perfect race :)

No, I agree - you have to tune Sti for win, no way that even can be won with stock car. But both Elise and F500 are more than doable.

Since understeer is your worst enemy in this race, you have to combat it trough 3 factors: suspension, brake bias and centre differential.

I won with 390HP/1286kg car with just sports suspension and default differential.

Here are the most imporant settings for reducing understeer (and getting oversteer which is very welcomed on Laguna Seca):

> centre differential 35F/65R (essential)
> springrate 8.0F/7.4R
> dampers 1F/2R
> camber 1.7F/0.7R (essential)
> brake bias 2/5 (essential)

👍

Seriously, my car doesn't turn, and i placed Sensitivity 7.

And i don't feel any oversteer in my car.

I was using Greycap's tune and was having no luck getting consistent times, usually ending up 3rd or 4th, but then I just switched to the stock suspension and got gold on the first try.

ME TOO! LOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Greycap, you sir.... are a god. HAHAHA! :sly:

This one is just dumb. Many many tries, and still only 5th. I'd be lucky to get a lap time under 1:38... don't know how people are getting the requisite 1:35's. Maybe it can only be done with a wheel.

Would also be a little easier if the Subaru actually knew how to TURN. Pretty pathetic for a 4WD car.

For those that might still be struggling with the Subaru race, below is my best tune for it.

I just completed it with a total time of 7:55.788
Fastest lap: 1:34.356

race air filter
hi rpm turbo
ECU
Aero: 0 front / 5 rear
Center Diff: 35 front / 65 rear
Brakes: 5 front / 7 rear
Gear: 137mph.

2.5 F camber 0.0 R

-0.05 F toe 0.05 R

-5 F ride hieght -5 R

7.0 F springs 9.5 R

7 F shock extend 7 R

3 F shock compress 4 R

2 F rollbar 7 R

I didn't know when I completed it the first time an adjustable center diff came with the car.
I never looked, since I ran the stock diff and didn't buy the torque sensing adjustable diff.
It came set 40/60 which is what I won with.
It did force me to lean entirely on the suspension setup.
Its a lot easier with 35/65.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this: I first started with 394hp but after several restarts when I exited after winning I had 396hp.
Also done with auto trans and DS controller.

Beat the impreza challenge with a 1:37, a 1:36, two 1:35's, and my last lap was dead nutz 1:34.00. My fastest lap in 6 hours of trying to beat this challenge! I got a R390 GT1 race car '98.

Anyone ever pull a 1:33? That would be a perfect lap.

Try different tunes, stay off the dirt with outside tires, absolute tightest cornering, fastest lines, total concentration. PRACTICE! Like the x2010 challenge, which still foils me!
