Wow. I can't believe this game is out almost a year now, it still a lot of fun, im far away from having driven the majority of the about 450 cars I own, seasonals keep me entertained, I enjoy the time trials each week and just driving the old Alfa , Ford MK, Lambo and Ferrari is soooo much fun I usually can't stop smiling even if Im just driving in the back or midfield, winning is so much sweeter tho! :)

Also started driving in cockpit view which is just awesome and now we'll get them for all cars. I barely touched online yet, which will hopefully improve with the coming patch!

Ya'll should stop comparing with Forza IMO it doesnt make sense, Forza might do some things better, but in the end the physics are not in the same league!
Just saying...

Can't wait for Spec 2. : gtpflag: 👍 ;)

Looks like not all...(right one)
Hmm... well, even if neither one is the player's car, that's nice LOD for however many are in the scene. In Forza 3, the non-player cars could look pretty wretched. I won't shame them at you, but I have a few.

And of course what no one seems to be admitting is that in both games, Photo Mode models are higher in detail than the in-game models, and both look pretty nifty.

The thing that puts Forza a nose ahead as far as what I want to do with it is the Livery Editor. Honestly, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't care for the game at all and would sell my whole 360 Leet rig, or wrap it up as a Christmas present. I don't find the racing to be as fun, much prefer hotlapping in GT5 to Forza 3, and I hate paying for Live. And I really have to give MS customer service hell for updating my credit card info without permission. "DELETE! MY! NUMBER!! NAOW!!" When I get around to it, anyway. :p

Yeah they looks good but not as good as in last page shots. However I don't get all that **** about player and non-player car LOD.

In Forza 3 you have 3 models - one in-game, second for replay, and third (best) for photo-mode. Game was swapping models depended on situation.

To me in photo-mode there is no difference between player car model or non-player. It's more like to save RAM in game-play, but there is no point in that in photo-mode. It's photo-mode! :) You need to get best possible pics. And T10 knows that all gamers will compare their pics to GT5 pics.

Seriously, you think this:

Looks better then this:

...think again, the standard cars are a joke in gt5m a joke for a third gen console.

I doubt anyone says "this" looks better than "this." Quote, please? ;)

By the way, I love all those "jokes," so you can laugh all you want to at them. I'm collecting them and couldn't care less what you think of them.

I think that's obvious TT3AZ.

Its modeled from 2nd GEN. Thanks for stating the obvious.

And then you give an example of photomode to in-game. It's almost like you're trying to convince yourself on why to Get FORZA still.

I'll not even talk to a guy like you anymore. I don't know why I even bother.

You're cheating. FM4 Photomode pic vs. the worse standard in GT5. Why not compare with a GT5 Photomode pic with the 458?

Indeed. Unlike rally courses, which are usually very narrow. Only someone didn't tell Kaz that since he built rally courses wider than the sun.

What a load of rubbish. How is autovista a photomode rip off? first of all taking photos of cars is hardly revolutionary thinking and secondly autovista lets you fully explore the digital cars, something which GT5 photomode does not.

Forza 4 blatantly and I mean blatantly copied GT5 in the photo travel mode. The mode where you place your car in a location and take a picture was a straight rip off from GT5. You cannot deny this. Furthermore their rivals mode is also a straight rip off from NFS autolog. In fact I can think of anything Forza has innovated in other than the livery editor.

Well, but you have to admit that a few of us are saying that the Photo Mode pics from F4 aren't anything special (edit: not me! for clarity's sake). You have to look pretty closely at that Ferrari image to see that it's not real, like that "floating" rear view mirror housing, which is odd. ;) But heck, overall it looks pretty darn real. I'd love to be able to take a "superbig" image of a race car I created to a Kinkos or other office shop to have a poster made of it, like I was hoping to do in GT5. Maybe in GT6, we'll have our Livery Editor, and I can finally be in true racing heaven.

Anyhow, about that racing... MUST RACE!!

It's getting feisty in here. Anyways back to the original question. No one who has played GT5 to the max would drop it for a game with practically the same level of gameplay since 2007.

A whole generation and Forza cannot move beyond sunny tarmac. What a sorry state of affairs. All we need now is Spa with weather as new DLC and PD would take a massive dump on Turn 10's pitiful efforts to dethrone Gran Turismo

If you smoke something before I swear you would prefer first pic more! :sly: (it's more funny lol)

If Forza 4 puts all the content and features GT5 fans are clamoring for in GT5 I think PD will lose a lot of customers.
Well this can go the other way also. What if PD had the Livery editor and other content and features, Forza will get smashed.

What boggles me is the fact that you are in a GT forum bashing GT. Not only you, but thousands if not millions of GT "fans" that spend their time bashing GT. Why dont you go to a Forza forum and do that in there? Go play your wanna be sim, while I stay here enjoying the better game.
Type www.forzaplanet.net into your nice address bar and see what sitre it takes you to.

This applies to a good number of people in this thread....

Cut the attitude and start posting with some respect for each other as people, its fine to argue a point, its not fine to attack the person.

...anyone who carries on with these poor displays of attitude and attacks will find that they are unable to contribute to GT Planet in any way.

Scaff

To be fair, there's hardly anything that can be done differently when it comes to things like that sort of static Photomode style.

Autovista, even if it's fluff and not about the racing itself, is innovative. Sure, us car fanatics will know most every bit of info that Clarkson will tell us, but it out-does GT5 in the car-porn category, since, for all the lovingly detailed work put in to the Premiums, we can't do much to explore the insides.

Getting into that last sentence, one could be challenged to think of any truly unique, innovative features GT5 has. I'll give them 3D (which isn't unique, so much as just unique to the genre), and I think head-tracking may have been a racing game first in GT (not sure), but besides that, most everything has already been done once or twice in the genre before. The challenge now is for games to package the features players most want in one game, and to upgrade previous games' features thanks to our improved modern technology (GT5's day-to-night transitions, for example).

I'll still reiterate my point in the thread earlier - why drop either game? They both excel at different things. Reviews are starting to roll in for FM4, and sure enough, they're glowing. If you have the ability, and own both systems, it'd be silly not to play both 👍

I'm in the maybe category. The only thing that has really caught my eye on Spec 2.0 is the improved physics and AI but I won't be holding my breath. Then there's also the track DLC which could hook me into the game again if we get all the missing tracks but I somehow get the feeling we'll get some new fantasy ones nobody wished for and then bye bye GT5 it is.

230 vs 25? Really?

And it's questionable. FM4 cars have their edges too sharp. If you say "that was 1.000.000 polys" then you don't really know what that means. I wonder a real number and wonder how many are wasted ones.

look this.

that was "only" 192.000 polys...

In short number of polys don't directly mean that it will look better. Question is how they used them. And T10 use them to get round shapes and things that are inside cars. But that doesn't mean it looks real, just "right in technical terms" (ie round shape is round)

To me GT ones looks more natural, especially in-game, but Forza AV has more polygons -> more round shapes.

I can appreciate what you're saying, 1 million ploygons doesn't mean it will look 5 times better than 200,000 polygons.

But 1 million polygons will surely look better then 200,000.

In either case, posting a video can't always show the difference, the viewer must first have the resolution available to really see the difference.

I can't believe the same people have been going back and forth for days.... Isn't this topic a little played out? I guess it'll never be...

No, I only have a PS3 but I can defintely understand why Forza 4 seems to be the winner. GT has followed me since 1999 so it's not the kind of game I just give up on because another title looks a little more shiny. I have a lot of faith in Spec 2.0 as this seems to be Sony's direct answer to the competition and DLC will follow. 👍

A second look on the Forza 4 muscle car pack makes me wish I had an Xbox360. '66 Nova, '68 Dart Super Stock, '64 Fairlande Thunderbolt!?!?!? OMG!!!

EDIT: Jesus H Christ, the Infineon drag strip is in there as well! ****!!! :(

Well, you have the money? Just buy, nobody is going to live for ever haha. In sweden the xbox 360 slim 250gb costs equivalent to the us dollar like 280$.

Hey, you don't have to wander in here if the thread doesn't suit you, ya know. ;) Besides, I do like to hear some of the more coherent posts in here, like if someone played the heck out of the Forza demo and pointed out differences between it and GT5.

Autovista boasting to me is kind of worthless. Photo Mode waving is more my speed, but so far, they both look great. A few Forza models look a little better in pics so far, but consider it's later and the money MS must have spent on this game, I'd expect some benefits. And look at Forza's tracksides, very lush and full of details, even if they might be fuzzed up a bit. I like them.

I am off my meds, lol. You have have to ignore some of my posts, lol.

Anyway.

I would like to buy me a Toyota Supra RZ '97.

I would like to tint the windows, put some nice rims on it, and maybe see if there is an option for a better looking back wing (not bigger, just better looking)

I would also like to put a nice paint job on it, and that is about all.

Can I do this in GT5? NO
Can I do this in Forza? YES

Reasons I can't do this in GT5, is firstly I have to find the car. And when I do in one of those used dealerships, I can't put mags, tinted windows, differnt wing or even special paint on it.

This is my issue with GT5

Not sure if anyone has said this or not, couldn't you do that in NFS underground 2?

Massive step forward by Forza then.

Oh no, not this again.

Thinking the Standards look fine is obviously a matter of opinion. It's completely fine for people to like them. They're very well done considering how low-res their textures are, and how few polygons they have. But they are in no way comparable to FM4's car models. Taking some photomode images (at least two of which have been fiddled with outside of the game), resizing them down, and keeping a relatively safe distance from them doesn't hide this. Plus, it's fairly well known there's different levels of quality within the Standards too. For every R8 LMS, there's a Hommell.

Stating you personally don't mind the Standards, or even like them? Cool. Saying they're comparable to modern-gen models? That's a pretty strong set of blinkers you'd have to be wearing.

They're definitely not comparable.

That dude posted this http://www.forzacentral.com/forum/a...0794803-gt5-standard-car-pics-only-hu0cjt-jpg

and said this, so I posted all of those standards. I'm not a biased "butthurt" fanboy. I'm plainly proving that the standards don't look like garbage. They look pretty good. The standards still fit in with the tracks naturally. Not like the Hommell he posted which was taken off of Forzacentral. It's pathetic to try and pull that.
