i just saw the "board room" thing where they fire people. They mentioned that the challenge was for sony and gt4. but i don't know what it was about. Did anybody see it? or does anybody know when the show apprentice reruns?

It was they had to paint a mural on a wall in Harlem. Both graffiti's sucked if you ask me. I gave a little chuckle when I heard who they had to do it for since I just got the game today.

Here's the messed up thing about this entire episode...

During the Apprentice Season 2 Finale, Trump said that they had recently finished filming for Season 3. So this GT4 episode had to have been filmed since before December. Notice the contestants are wearing light clothing, sweaters etc.

Is it possible that the reason for the GT4 delay might have been caused by this episode. What are the chances that the episode airs the same wk that the game is released after being surprisingly pushed back from a Dec. release, considering that the episodes are taped long before hand.

Think about it guys. Give me some feedback.

I was thinking that last night as well. I thought it was to coincidental.

Yes, I think both murals stunk. Someone was like, "GT4 is all about the bling bling." I was like, wahhh, this isn't NFSU2.

Yeah both grafittis sucked.

The first one was done by a better artist IMO, but Tanya's concept (bringing Harlem out of the 'mean streets') was just too stupid and had absolutely nothing to do with the game. It had two old lowriders on it, at least one of which was in 3 wheel hydraulic motion. ewww. No racing theme at all, and "tear it up" at the top.

The second one didn't look as good, but Had the PS2 logo on a finger ring, money falling from the sky, and the "rated E for Everyone" and "the drive of your life" on it, so the exec's liked it better. It also had some kooky car on it, looked kind of like a lancer in the front, except it had like a butterfly drag racing intake coming through the hood. Didn't make a lot of sense to me.

I don't think that being featured on the Apprentice delayed GT4, but I suppose anything is possible. I don't think the money they would have made from that feature would compare to the Christmas sales of the game had it been released in December.

EDIT: Of course if Sony was under contract not to release the game until around the time the spot was supposed to air, that would change things considerably... Now that I think about it, the Burger King campaign coincided with the air date of the Apprentice feature. Anyone have more info on the rest of the product releases of the Apprentice? Like the Crest toothpaste thing or the Pepsi Edge vs air dates?

:dopey: Madd props yo! :D

While I was watching the show, I kept looking at the GT4 case and being like "hey, they should use the GT logo"

Anyway, yea both of the murals sucked, but it was going to suck from the getgo because it had to be done in graffiti style. That clashes with the whole idea of the game.

The bottom line is this. Sony wanted to advertise GT4 on opening weekend so they wanted a contest where the groups had to advertise for them.

Trump (or somebody) thought it would be funny to put high schoolers against college grads to figure out something where the high schoolers might have an advantage - so they picked graffiti, where the high school kids might have the street smarts to outwit the college kids.

So they combined the two. Sony would get their 45 minute long commercial for their new game, and the high schoolers would supposedly have an advantage since the commerical had to be done in graffiti.

Except that the college kids won because they didn't get hung up on social messages - and that made the show very entertaining.

Hehe one of the team leaders kept saying ... yeah there are a lot of desert courses in the game, whe should put some deserts in our mural. - I guess Leguna Seca is desertish because there is some sand? and yes, both murals looked like NFSUG

I have read that trump dresses everyone appropriatley to when the episode is going to be played on Air. THere was a radio guy down in the states who happened to walk by during a shooting of the apprentice, it was during the summer. Most people outside were wearing shorts it was nice and warm out. The cast of the apprentice was dressed in Winter jackets and Parkas because the episode was to air in the winter. And low and behold it did.

Yeah, I have more info on the BK campaign.

Two weeks before the episode, we were notified that we were going to sell the Rodeo burger (cheese, BBQ sauce, onion rings) again. It was only until the night before the episode that we were ordered to put up The Apprentice advertisements that we received that day and that the Rodeo burger that we had planned on selling changed to 'The Apprentice Western Angus Burger'.

To say that Sony waited to release GT4 to coincide with The Apprentice episode is a reasonable theory.

Secret Tip #1:

BK has stop advertising for the Western Angus and it's no longer on our menu. But, you can still order it, just ask for it by name. It's just a regular Angus with cheese and normal onion rings.
