IMO I don't see the AI stuff slowing down. On my job they are making a big push towards AI. Right now we have to take at least one course in AI development or AI creation. We are supposed to use AI as part of our jobs. So Ai is not going away any time and never is businesses appetite for it. I'm not so enthused about but the higher ups in my organization are all in. That said there is not telling when DrAm prices will come down. TBH with corporate greed like it is they may not come down.

Yeah. Prices for components like this rarely come down across a variety of industries. The only thing that sometimes changes with is wages and benefits considering labor for new employees as the job market expands and contracts.

I dont think a new gt on ps5 would be pointless, it would be something new and fresh, and it does way more than what a couble new cars and tracks can bring in gt7.

Maybe pd would be able to finally do proper career mode with sophy closer to getting in good place, sounds could maybe take an even futher step, i think mainly also the cars that have the pitch glitch could maybe be resolved.

New fresh tuning and customize options etc this is just a few things that comes into mind, no update for gt7 is going to provide that in my opinion.

Due to the components shortage and inflation, I think that an early PS6 release will be just a tragedy: most of the player base is kids whose Ps6 possession is up to their parents. I'm an og PS1 player and love GT but even with a full time job a newer system is NOT something I can safely put on top of my priorities list.

They should definitely postpone GT8 to co-release with PS6, whenever that is (and the later the better), if it's planned to basically be a re-hash of GT7 (grind to collect the cars again, with a handful of new tracks thrown in to make it 'new'...)

In the meantime I'd like to see a decent GT dlc, or even interim standalone game. Not another power pack though (as much as I enjoyed it there's something very flawed in the way you're forced to drive nerfed cars...)
FH6 in Japan might even eat Kaz's dinner for a while when it appears. For years now I've wondered why PD never leant more into the JDM aspect of the series, which for those of us of a certain age was the big attraction of the early games, and which did more than anything to make the Skylines, Supras, NSXs etc worldwide motoring icons.
So yeah, Kaz, give us a 'GT Japan' interim game (or big DLC) for PS5 only in 2027/8-ish. Use GT7's engine, unleashed from PS4, to give us a kinda GT7-TokyoXtremeRacer mash up to compete with FH6, then when the PS6 comes out in 2030 or later simply slot it all into the next game with all the Am-Euro stuff.
That would be a fitting coda to GT7, and a true return to GT's 'traditional' roots.
99.99% not gonna happen, but I can dream.

I have a different opinion. It's time to end the numbering system of Gran Turismo. Just rename it "Gran Turismo" and adapt the new engine from GT8. Many games are turning into semi-live service games. Sell DLCs and expansion packs. I am not talking about microtransactions. You know what I mean if you know what recently popular games' monetization models are like. It keeps the brand stronger. If GT wants to compete with other sim racing games, they need to change. Oh, and make it PS5 Pro exclusive. The RAM and SSD pricing issue will not be resolved for at least 3 years, for sure.

make it PS5 Pro exclusive.
A million times No.

Even the guys at Sony with the biggest dollar signs in their eyes are able to see that any Pro system upgrade cannot to espoused into a pseudo generation-shift.

Especially considering PS5 users have already had to endure the fact GT7 has dragged it's heels as a split console entry. Your proposal would mean that PS5 adopters get completely hung out to dry.

And that's a good thing ???

and I don't want any of that.

I don't care.

Sounds like a dumb strategy.

Indeed. Not a reason for suicide though.

The Gran Turismo franchise is the biggest in the entire Sim Racing genre. It’s not even close. While it’s far from perfect, GT7 does waaaaay more things right, than it does wrong. The two things a lot of us think they could do better, is the physics and the AI. The physics are honestly good enough, and most importantly they’re accessible to a large player base. I get it.

The AI on the other hand needs a bit of work. But so does everyone else’s.

It's all just a guessing game at this point.
But if the rumors are true that Sony already has finalized the specs for the PS6 then I guess that Sony also already has contracts for all the hardware. Nobody knows what those contracts look like and at the moment it may still be profitable to not honor those contracts but I guess every company will think twice about pissing on Sony and risk future relations despite quick profits.

Honestly i am curious to see where they want to go with the physics and everything else. The jump on many things has been huge in every new game.

I just found this news article published a couple of hour ago; seeing as it’s on the internet with a completely legitimate verified source as stated in the article, GT8 is coming.

Soon. (TM)

Ah, yes, "news"!
BREAKING: Reports from nowhere in particular suggest that unannounced sequel is probably in some stage of development. 'Gran Turismo 8' is expected to feature new cars, updated physics, shiny puddles, and all the other things new games tend to have to differentiate them from their predecessors. Excitement is at a level. Source: mass speculation.

Now that's on the internet, so bots can scrape it and refer to it as fact, or combine it with other speculation to make more exciting "news".

They will not delay GT8 just because PS6 is delayed. It's their 30th anniversary in 2027. They will release that year. On PS5. I do hope anyone wanting a PS6 realises it not going to be a big jump forward in any meaningful way.

The same could be said for a GT8 on PS5. Looking at other racing/driving games released on this hardware, there’s really not much meaningful improvement to be made.

More ray tracing perhaps, a different career mode. Grids probably won’t be much bigger, Sophy AI is an improvement but not a generational leap, etc.

Speculation: the fact that there are reasons to launch GT8 in 2027 does not mean it will happen. There are reasons to publish it later too. Unless you have more infos?

Why not meaningful improvements? If Lmu will run well on ps5,gt7 sport mode will lose half of the players

For that LMU would have to run VERY well FOR CONTROLLER PLAYERS. Which i doubt a bit and GT7 definetly does. And in that case GT7s online players are still just a very minor fraction of it's player base. But yeah, of course Kaz clearly values that minority.

That would be funny the first time they tried a Hypercar race and encountered the weight penalties for using assists.

2 different userbases and types of racing games. I doubt there would be much crossover even amongst the Sport crowd.

In LMU they don't run tc0 like gt7...

Many people I've seen say that it's still too early for PS6 and that we've barely seen what the PS5 can fully do. I pretty much agree with this.

Let GT8 launch only on the PS5 for now. It's what we've all wanted for GT7 in the first place before it went cross-gen.
My thoughts as well, I feel like they could just concentrate on a PS5 only title, expanding on GT7 - following a traditional pattern of sequels dating back to the PS1. PS6 should ideally get GT9 as an exclusive, with GT10 building on that.

I mean; GT8 theoretically already has the underpinnings to be the greatest GT game of all time. 7 already has most of the pieces put together for that puzzle.

So in effect PD are developing for three platforms - PS5, PS5 Pro and PS6.

I'd rather see them target the PS5 Pro, remove some features for PS5, and push even further for PS6.

The one thing that really intrigues me is the call for direct wheel support - would Sony even sanction this?
Well I hope for now they'll focus on the Ps5 and Ps5 Pro for maybe 2-3 more years. That will give me time to get caught up with everything/all modes. But it's PD's call of what they want to do. What features did you want them to get rid of for the ps5?

Seen this nugget today,,,GT 8 is a lonng way off, lots of time to develop PS 6.

"According to Insider Gaming, Polyphony Digital has opened 18 job listings for the production of a new Gran Turismo title. A translated message attributed to founder Kazunori Yamauchi reflects on the franchise’s 25-year history and calls on passionate creators to help shape its future through art and technology. Roles include testers and CG artists, suggesting early development activity. With the series’ long production cycles, the next entry may still be some time away."

Why would Sony make GT8 exclusive to a system that's less then 10% of all PS5 sold?

I love my PRO but no way would Sony cut the Normal PS5 which is the mass of PS5s sold.
Idk, it would have been better to have gt8 available for all the ps5 models. Is the PRO better than the standard ps5? What are the pros and cons?

I'd rather the next Gran Turismo game not be restricted.

Now I understand there's a massive leap in tech between the PS4 and PS5, but PD would be better off maximizing the potential on GT8. Single player races with higher grid sizes, the ability to choose which class you want to race on if Multi-Class is part of the campaign, things like that.

Yes, maybe it's possible that gt8 would be available and exclusive for the ps4, ps5 and even the ps6.
