A race that had some promise for me ended up all over on lap pne.
First lap was good for provisional 3rd.
I was then quicker but took a little too much kerb on the final corner and got a penalty. Shame as that would have been my fastest lap. After the penalty lap I had 1 more go. I was up in sector 1 but going into turn 4 someone was mucking about slowly and they unghosted just before the corner. Whilst they were trying to stay out of the way they prevented me from getting the apex and I had to take a wide line. Thankfully I crossed the line faster but only by 0.3 of a second to move up to 8th from what was then 10th.
I had a poor start but the whole lap was a write off. I was down to 10th by T1. However a car barrelled up my inside and took out the car ahead. There were ghosts everywhere on the exit and I was suddenly up to 7th. Into Remus and more cars barrelled into those ahead and I was knocked wide but still in P10. Then into turn 4 the next wave happened. I made it round somehow which cannot be said for others but I came out of the corner with a totally unjustified 5 second penalty for knocking a car off track despite not hitting anyone. Then into the next set of corners I was tapped up the inside and then on the outside which sent the car into a tankslap. I hit the car which hit me on the outside which sent me spinning and doing my best Bottas impression. I got her straight only for the car to go again when I hit the track. Of course this time I faced the barrier. DFL and with a penalty to serve.
Video evidence of the carnage:

I was able to close the gap ahead and make a few places on the last lap due to penalties to finish 15th. But I could have well been fighting in the top 10 as the combo felt good to me. Really frustrated at this one. Why can't people race in a racing game?

Wow that T4 was mental. 2 things…
1. The Finish driver reminds me of Romain Grosjean at Spa in 2012 just ploughing into the pack.
2. That 5 second penalty was ridiculous! Apart from a few cars hitting you I couldn’t actually see hit any car

I think what may have happened is this. I may have given the 86 a slight kiss into the braking zone which was hardly anything. However the bowling ball came in and hit the 86 putting them off. As I had glanced a car that went off the honourable Judge Stevie Wonder considered me at fault.

Had a pretty awesome Nations race today.

Slot 1, ended up in NA top split due to lower participation. Could see why, while most kept it clean, it only took 1 - 2 people being overly aggressive to start chain reactions on lap 1.

Started 6, fell to 8th, penalties brought me back up to 6th. Fought hard with 5th towards the end, but tbh 6th was my ceiling given the strong competition.

Brought home 273 points, which I'm really happy about :)

Absolute carnage yesterday at RBR. Started P11 after an average qualifying with WRX gr.b lile 4 tenths off from practice time. The race start, many drivers taking a horrible race start and everyone gets bunched up. 3-4 wide into T1, but still held my ground in the middle seemed to be a safe spot, and a few of the drivers went wide ahead and beside me. T2 3 wide ahead of me, but this time I misjudged how early they were braking and went in a bit too fast. Braked 1-2 m too late and since they were driving so slow I pushed 2 drivers wide at the apex, 5 sec penalty 🙈 Deserved it tbh but a shame, looking at replay, maybe 3 sec penalty more fair 🤔

Up to P5 before penalty was served, somehow only dropped to P9 after that. Wish I took race replay in game, so much chaos behind me I bet 😂

Went slightly wide into T3 a few laps later, P11. After that "grabbed myself in the neck" and started to drive a bit better. Caught up the P9-10 drivers, after they were battling, joined with someone binning it in P8, sneaked through all of them at one point, when they were fighting aggressively.

After that looked like a cruise for P8, but two drivers really went at it on final lap and came together on the short straight before penultimate turn, where one of the drivers almost spun and took a 2-3 sec penalty, up to P7. P6 French driver getting hit by Hungarian driver lost their rhytm, almost caught up. P7 in the end, 3 tenths from P6. Seeing how much carnage it was and given the race pace inconsistency, took P7 143 pts and ran away 🏃 Would share the live stream race replay, if I didn't rage after lap 1 😁😅 Forgot to save replay in game.

Still 71st for EMEA after yesterday. Solid season going, needing one more 130-150ish score for a full set. Trying to get it on Friday, so that I can push rounds 8 and 9, you need 7/9 scores for the championship. Consistent going so far, with one nice 186 pts score.

Is anyone else getting mild PTSD everything they see the screen fade to black in an online race.

Been sitting g waiting g for the track to load the qualifying sessions for 5 minutes now.

Update 10 minutes of waiting and the track loads. Minus 8 cars. Now down to a 10 car field.

So…. Let me get this right as I had this issue last night.
As soon as quali started I got a black screen. I tried a few things but in the end I closed the game.
If we get a black screen do you just need to wait it out?

Maybe.

I've had times when the session simply didn't start. Sat there for over 40 minutes. Opted to quit that one and try the next slot.

Other times I've had 5 to 10 minutes of black screen and then the session starts like nothing happened, but the size of the field had decreased by a few cars.

Thanks for that. If I have it again I’ll wait it out for 10-15mins untill the scheduled quali time finishes. Don’t fancy waiting 40mins

Can't say I blame you. Hopefully tomorrow's maintenance will have a fix for this.

That and a BoP change for the Gr.4 Atenza.

Strange Nations races yesterday. TBH I don't think I ever raced on RBR in GTS. Did the circuit experience and it seemed like an easy track to learn. I tried the first race in the Focus prize car I had against a field of WRXs. I got a bumping penalty and ended up finishing 10th in an 11 car field. It must have been a higher DR lobby than I'm used to, half the drivers were A+ and I was awarded 154 points. I left and bought the WRX to retry the final race. Picked up 6-7 tenths over the Focus after a few laps. I qualify P7 in a field of 12, avoid the first lap carnage, and get up to P4. After some close racing with two iRL league drivers, they ultimately get the best of me and I finish P6. I gain a mere 9 extra points over the first race for 163. It was fun sliding these rally cars around this track.

Slot 3 in Asia at Fuji for Team Aston. Ranked 12 of 18 in the lobby. Over half the field were in the Atenza or WRX. I couldn’t find a rhythm in qualifying and started Q17.

Immediately ran down a Cayman and then survived turn 1. 3 cars immediately ahead got into a serious tussle through turns 2-5 and by the time we reached the chicane I was right behind them. Then picked off a Corvette down the straight and settled in p15 for a few laps. Another brief tussle ahead saw me catch and pass a WRX and an NSX. p13 then became p12 when an Atenza hit the wall out of turn 5.

The next 5 laps were smooth as the NSX stuck to my rear bumper but couldn’t get a run to overtake.Eventually we caught a Ferrari and another Atenza who got tangled up and had to serve penalties.. Suddenly I was in p10 with 5 laps to go with a Honda and a Mazda pressing hard.

The last 5 laps were incredibly tense but I managed to hold on despite a couple of crazy dives from the Atenza. Super happy with the result as the Vantage is not a strong car at the moment but I managed to keep it smooth and error free.

Only 160 odd points, but good fun nonetheless.

About Last Night (Nation's at Fuji)

Slot 1: Entered with @mohitraina91. Started 15th and finished 13th in what was probably the most stacked Top Split lobby yet. Frustrating result, but not unexpected since for the first time this seaon, Nation's top split had a very similar make up to what it was in GTS.

Slot 2: Qualified much better in 9th, but drove like utter [redacted] in the actual race. My race began to unravel almost immediately immediately after a great start when on Lap 1 the car directly in front of me almost spun on the exit of "T3" (the downhill hairpin) and slid right in front of me, costing me 2 positions. I then attempted several overtakes at T2, and each time I would understeer on exit and force someone off. It wasn't anything especially egregious or race-ending, but I did gain positions from the contact, so I lifted off to let them back by, costing myself even more time with each one. On one of the collisions I picked up a 2s penalty, and before long I found myself in last place and gaining on no one but a "vintage" Peugeot Group B car directly ahead of me. Since my race was basically done, I drove myself head on into the wall at the penultimate corner in frustration on Lap 7 and finished last (16th).

Slot 3: Qualified 11th and made a great start up to 9th before slipping back to 10th out of T1. A combination of collision penalties and track limits penalties for literally everyone around, and someone nearly spinning out of T2, eventually moved me up to 6th place. There were several times in the race when someone would gain on me and threaten to overtake, only to pick up a track limits penalty, and 1 person picked up a collision penalty for bumping me (pretty mildly) at T2. 6th was where I would finish for 224 points.

A tale of two penalties for me in this one.

Wasn't expecting a whole lot as the Corvette Gr 4 feels like a freighter and with responsive turn-in and quick acceleration needed here I feared I might end up a sitting duck. I could put together a smooth lap that looked nice in a replay but wasn't particularly fast so it was a surprise to get 6th in qualy, though it was hundredths between myself and others around the same position so it's not like it was statement lap or anything like that.

The race started fairly well with everyone making it through turn 1 and the first lap being without incident. On lap 2 however I received a 2 second penalty for contact when there's just no way I hit anyone, I was careful going into turn 1 to avoid exactly that a. The car following wasn't attacking so I have no idea where this came from.

(Having reviewed it I had to go right into photo mode to zoom and see if there was anything at all and I couldn't confirm, it was close, but if there it's a breath of contact at most)

This put me back into 11th and from there a few driving laps with not much to write home about until I caught the group in front which brought a Spaniard into the mix who had been running behind me. Not the patient sort he caused a couple of incidents in and out of Dunlop and in the end managed to barge his way past on the exit to the main straight, from here it all went a bit odd as what I assume was lag had his car jumping around in front of me. He had full bars, so did I, so not sure what was happening but it meant when it jumped back towards me before turn 1 I had no way of avoiding contact. Light as it was it meant a 4 second penalty and that killed that competition.

I did manage to catch him again near the end but fair play he put in 3 tight 3rd sectors and pulled a gap away again to finish the race.

11th is fine for what it is, I'll take it and move on. Not overly keen to drive this thing much longer.

Livery for this one by @kz-FD2TypeR

I just did the Catalunya gr4 daily race. I was driving the Atenza and cruising to victory, or so I thought, when I ran out of fuel on the final lap. I was then passed by most of the field including a load of Atenzas who hadn’t pitted either.
Why didn’t they run out of fuel?
Is there some way of changing the car’s fuel usage?
What am I missing here?

Red Bull Ring 17:00
Car: Toyota Rally

Qualified 9th.
Another safe start. T1 was remarkably good. T2 was kind of chaos.
Too many penalties due the hard hits :scared:
Meantime, I've found myself in P3 with 3,4 laps to go. Yikes

Untill the end, I was passed by 3 WRX (didn't even tried to defend) and finished at P6.

Fuji 17:00
Car: Jaguar GT4

Qualified 9th
Nice start until T1 when a spanish named Curro 5, saw me braking inside later than him and just threw himself
in front of me, to block me, needless to say that I could not avoid contact. The contact was not hard, he kept the position.
But it was enough for me to take a 2 secs penalty.
Lap 2, the penalty put me in P15.
In a race of 15 laps, that idiot silly boy... I just tried to pass because he had braked too soon. :boggled:

Had two nice and clean fights with a czechoslovak and a german drivers.
Got home with a P7.

Cheers

Do you drop down massively your safety rating, if you get disqualified (rage quit by putting the game to pause and did nothing, Mustang was horrible at Fuji).

Never doing any manufacturers cup race ever again, unless I practice more for them. There is no point, all you will do is drop your driver rating, unless you can drive GT cars. Which atm is not me. At least not regarding gr4 cars.

I'm totally frustrated... I've only got time for 2 races in the manufacturers championship right now and the first one was already a disaster. I got stuck in the pits at the start, so was only able to do one lap in qualifying, which of course went wrong.

So starting place way back... and then again a Spanish driver who acted like he was on a bumper car. He shot me down a total of 3 times at the end of the long straight, he did the same thing with other drivers... The rest of the back field was quite civilized, but this driver caused extreme unrest. In the end I was so out of control and intentionally shot said driver wide after I caught up with him for the third time. So shortly before the end I got a considerable time penalty and the whole race was a huge pile of crap.

Happy with todays race.
Fuji is one of those tricky tracks but if you nail it, its satisfying
Quali P10
Race decent start slipstreaming car ahead. Didn’t have any issues with people bumping others around me. From there on to the finish I had a clean race (got clean race bonus too) and made my way up to P3.
Found myself picking the right time to make the overtakes and also staying clear off people fighting
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage handled like a dream in my race. Was quick on the straights and in the corners. Was doing 1.50-1.51 all race.

@Mercia looks like I was in your race. When the race started your race handle seemed familiar and then the snapshot you uploaded I recognised your car. Also I have the full race replay saved too on GT showcase if you want it.
I’ve watched your penalty incident and it was harsh. It was slight bump at most. I’ve seen others hit me and hot others harder then yours and not get any penalties.

Short shifting and Maybe a little mix 2 for the infield if you don’t have any slip.

Good to have some GT Planet company on track. Congrats on the podium

I couldn't see the contact even on the replay zoomed right in but alas, I will trust in the system and assume it was there. At least one of us had a good run anyway.

Really dumb question and apologies if it's been answered, I'm not super familiar with it. I saw for GT Sport, they had championships for regional and whatnot, did they have any kind of championship races for local (if that was a thing)? I know for this, GT7, we're in test season so I'm just curious.

My wife asked me "why are you racing so much for points that don't matter?" I told her, bragging rights dangit. Don't kill the dreams in my head haha.

Thanks for reply. Sorry but what do you mean by a little mix 2 for the infield?
Sorry. I meant fuel map mix 2. If you go through the MFD using the DPad you’ll see a green fuel map option. It goes from 1-6. Default is 1 which will give the most power but using the most fuel and pressing up or down will change it, 6 being the most economical with a big loss of power. Mix 2 will be all you’ll need in this race with the Mazda.
The fuel map will also show your fuel percentage and how many laps left with current usage uonto that point in the race.
Race C this week being 10 laps makes it easy to work out as aiming for 10% a lap will get you home. I say infield to mean the sections between the straights. You want to try to keep it in mix 1 for straights. Just remember to short shift when you can and you’ll save a lot anyway.
Hope that all made sense.

Set down the Fuel Mix to 2 or 3. To safe some Fuel... you can make that, if you follow an other car for a while. You got his Slipstream and can go with 2-3 his Pace.
My M4 needs minimum 1,5 full Rounds at Fuel 2 to get the Full Race without Pit.
