Do you use the GTP tag infront of your name

No. I have been using the same name on all the forums and games I play for well over 6-7 years.

I've been playing online, under this monicker, for a lot longer than that. Tags are something that comes with the turf. I've never played in an online tournament, as part of a clan, without bearing the tag (in fact most leagues I've played in your team would be disqualified for fielding an untagged player)

What's the big deal?

I agree. As soon as i found out about all you GTP_ guys and the "promoting clean racing" stuff, I immediately made a GTP_ name. I love representin' man.

Yeah I race with the tag on, but in truth I do feel nervous driving round with it. It's a question of how other players react to it. Some notice and give it respect by racing hard and clean with you, some target you by punting and some just don't give a damn and just carry on doing crazy things like taking shortcuts right in front of your face (especially intermediate Suzuka thats a nightmare). I also take a lot less risks at overtaking in fear of tarnishing the tag if it goes horribly wrong and I suffer at races because of it since I don't tend to drive a powerful car. I like the tag to represent fair play to others but I get really paranoid with it, the only time I feel at peace is when I see fellow GTP players out there and its rare nowadays.

Actually, i am now racing with the tag, I was reading about how people make new accounts and play that way, so I made a sub-account under my main account and it worked! I didn't think it would work with the PSN version of the game. :D I am very happy now! Any way to change my vote? Moderators?

since i've had the tag i've had people take shortcuts right in front of me at suzuka as well, but i tend to call it coinsedence(misp? TUI). other then that, i don't really worry about it, nor have i had many problems associated with representing gtp. its a way for me to show that i'm trying to race clean and hard.. that's it.

Just got a GTP tag set up. Can't complain yet as i'm on the Daytona Oval mostly in front, so haven't had a chance of getting punted. Just testing what the difference will be running a GTP tag.

made my GTP Tage for GT5 for one reason. And thats to race other GTP Members that are good and it's a separate account for me plus it's my Australian PSN ID

Hey Luke,

How would I go about doing this?

Cheers,

Pete

I've just opened a new account on the PSN with GTP_ in front of my name. i'm going to get started on my time for the GTPLANET REGISTRY QUALIFIER I'm a new member so i'm cant wait to race you members at the end of september
:)

Not yet, will do when I eventually buy the PAL version. There's not enough JP version players here to make the account worth it yet.

You have to REGISTER your GTP tag first. Only after your tag has been successfully registered and shows up on the board/thread along with the other tagged members, you can submit your qualifying lap. 👍

I don't have a tag yet partly cuz I haven't gotten round it and partly because I think I;m not up to par with the GTP rep, I also believe that people expect more from a tagged player than someone who isn't.

I think most people just expect a fellow gtplanet racer who wont bump them off the track. In my opinion it has nothing to do with the ability of the driver/how fast he is. But thats just my opinion.

little off topic but while were still talking about GTP.The qualifier thing where do we submit the times to?

Here, read this, it will tell you everything you need to know ;) (Oh, and P.S. make sure you write out your PM exactly the way Sphinx says to, otherwise he'll disregard it, because so many people have messed it up already). Good Luck! 👍

Are you using the GTP tag? Do you have GTP_ infront of your name, if so, good! if not, why not?! lets support the gran turismo planet community, also its an easy way to notify real racers. Whenever i see a GTP tag i even drive more carefully to make sure i wont make contact with him.

I dont see many GTP tags online :nervous:

I usually run a GTP tag, but not always. If I drive especially poorly (like, even worse the usual :-) for a few races in a row I take that as a sign that I'm too tired or for some other reason not "in the zone" and will switch to a non-GTP tag so as not to sully the good GTP name. Also, I will sometimes switch to a non-GTP tag while trying new car setups which may be strange enough to cause erratic driving (such as trying to get rid of the profound understeer the august update has caused in the Ford GT road car).

I had one for a few days. But I gave it up. Some for you (you know who you are!), accused me of dubious racing. There are many good racers, who know I'm a fair honest racer, but also fast and competitive. It's a shame that the few dishonest GTP_ drivers who punt me off, then accuse me of their tactics, with foul mouth rants and personalities to match. Can't be exposed automatically. So my answer is to leave everyone by the first corner, then by the end of lap 1. Only genuine racers are in tow. Unfortunately it is bugging when knowing there are competitive drivers on the grid only to see them (in my mirror) shunted out of contention, by time wasting idiots, who should stick to Lego. In the few days i was GTP_ driver I felt like i was at school, and just a few out of the whole class would fart themselves, then sir, sir he did it and point at me! But obviously it was Sphynx, Sphynx, in this case. Sorry to all the great, fair racers on this site, but its always the few who spoil it for the many. Hey, its only a game, it matters not, what name you got. Dignity, Integrity and Honour mean much more.

So am I getting your post wrong here? The way it is worded looks to me that you are saying Sphinx punted the hell out of you in a race for no reason and then nastily messaged you via the PSN? ... If that's your claim then I'm inclined to disbelieve every single word of it! I've known the guy for over 6 years and raced OLR with him all the way since GT2 before actually racing head to head with him online with GT4 on kai before GT5P put the masses together in a bigger way! He has never showed any kind of underhand tactics whilst racing me ... ever!

If I am taking your post in the wrong context then please try wording your post better next time because that looks like you are claiming sphinx is a punter 👎

+1 It reads that way to me too. If this is the case, you are full of bull. Shpinx would not do that, period. If we are misunderstanding you you better defend yourself and clear this up before you get torn a new one. Just warning you.

Unfortunately GTP_WaynePFC took exception to the PM I sent him after I received a number of PM's that expressed concern regarding his driving whilst online. They weren't accusing him of cheating, nor blatant dirty driving, they were just a little concerned with regard to being a little too aggressive in his driving style. The purpose of the PM I sent him was two fold; To highlight the concerns raised, and to invite him to register to the GTP_Register.

Upon receipt of the PM, he took exception to the raised concerns and totally ignored the invite and ranted on.

I've never met him Online.

End of story.

I voted no....reason being that I cant be bothered to make a sperate PSN ID just for GT5P.

When the full GT5 game comes out I'll probably make one to compete in organised GTP races.

I just read his post, and I dont think he means Sphynix is the one who complained about him or punted him etc.

I think he's saying Sphinx is the one everyone grassed him up to.

If you look at his post is says...

He's reffering to Sphynx as the teacher (sir) in school in his little metaphore.

I dont think he was having a go at Sphynx.

Yeah I can see I was looking at his post in the wrong context now, probably half asleep when I saw it in the early hours ... Thanks for the clarification guys

I voted No!

As I initially got the impression that the GTP tag was for racers of a very good standard. To be able to preserve the reputation of GTP.
Only having bought GT5 P a few weeks ago, didn't feel up to scratch to wear the tag.

But having read some of the replies so far. It's not an elite racing group, but a community for people who enjoy racing fair and understand sportsmanship, regardless of what standard you are.

Maybe that should be a Yes now. suppose I should start getting a few laps in around Suzuka :)

Exactly!

126 positive replies... does this mean grids are packed with GTPers like the 600PP at Suzuka used to be? I haven't been on-line racing for a month or so.

I think yes if you go to HSR, no if you go any where else

You see the odd tag or two at Fuji but it seems most GTP members like the events I hate. I hope this isn't the same when the private lobbys arrive :nervous:

Penta i like the fuji as a track but i hate the lag on it (worldwide event), if it would be as smooth as HSR usually is, i would be there.

Hopefully we'll be able to switch tracks on the fly, running the same track over and over gets a bit much after a while. but regardless I'm sure once we have private races tracks that are currently avoided will be more playable when you know the other drivers wont be putting you off the track on purpose. I mean, I love fuji, but when racing with random punters its a nightmare, hopefully that will all change.
