Assetto Corsa PC Mods General DiscussionPC

Quick note - here's a new link for Aviano, as the sharemods link that it came with originally breaks the CM UI. It's the one with all the bells and whistles, the "updated" one on Breathe's list.

Feel free to let me know if this breaks rules, but I think it doesn't.

Please let us know if you end up getting someone to make a better version of this car!

Speaking of bugs, does anyone know why the IER FLM09 shows like this in game? And is there a fix? Thanks.

Manual installation?

CM puts in the title the common part of the ui_track.json "name" section of all layouts, but with Fenryr track one of them hasn't a common part (Nordschleife layout)

"name": "Nürburgring GP - Fast Chicane",
"name": "Nürburgring 24H",
"name": "Nürburgring GP - Chicane",
"name": "Nürburgring GP - No arena",
"name": "Nürburgring GP - No arena F1 Chicane",
"name": "Nordschleife",
"name": "Nürburgring Nordschleife GP Arena",
"name": "Nürburgring Nordschleife Sprint Arena",
"name": "Nürburgring Nordschleife Sprint No Arena",
"name": "Nürburgring Sprint - Chicane",
"name": "Nürburgring Sprint - Chicane No Arena",
"name": "Nürburgring Sprint - Fast chicane",
"name": "Nürburgring Sprint - Fast chicane No Arena",
"name": "Nürburgring Tourist - Trackday",

Close CM
Reinstal the Fenryr's original ui_track.json files (I think they are all messed up now)
Open ui/Nordschleife folder and edit the ui_track.json "name" section with something like:
"name": "Nürburgring Nordschleife",
Load CM and check

Thanks a million. Appreciated.

Cockpit shaders don't seem to load properly, everything is very flatly shaded?

Pardon me for late respond, yes it is very flat since i haven't uv wrapped the interior.

New RSS car - Formula Hybrid Alpine 2025

You can get it here

It makes me really sad that the only nicely modeled F1 car made in collaboration with an official manufacturer had to be the Alpine A525, or as most know it that blue and pink tractor at the back of the field every race.

Hi Everyone. Got something that i need to ask for help.

I'm planning on commissioning an 3D artist to make this car for Assetto Corsa available at an actually decent quality. Just an large issue i have ran into is the fact that finding interior pictures that isn't from the road car seems to be completely impossible. At least for me uneducated google search brain. Though i'd ask in here if someone happens to have literally any images be it low, medium or high quality images. Feel like asking in here regarding this is fine as it's still AC related

If anyone happens to know of any decent images send me an DM. Muchas gracias.

Ahhh... So it trips up the logic and then simply resorts to using the first layout name?

We definitely need the 1977- 1981 F1 cars as this was a magical era.

THe RSS Formula 1979 is one of my favourite openwheelers, as is the 1986 one. They represent their era in a good way, and it works pretty well with a season skinpack, despite the whole grid being the same model.

[Vintagedriver]

One day we'll get something interesting from these guys again. One day. Until then it's the same boring open wheel car over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. This thing isn't even good. It's super basic compared to VRC's versions.

I have also noticed that for VR use, RSS is behind VRC and URD designs. It’s missing the fine 3D details in the cockpit that’s making driving in VR mode so enjoyable. Sure I did not test all the models and as an VR user only in cockpit view, but still to me it appears RSS does not have a (proper) VR-HS to see his own design in 3D or he is mainly focused on monitor use only.
BTW think URD is underrated by everyone, but this car was the best looking in my VR test drive.

Edit wooow, did get an xxxx reaction from an RSS fanboy or the guy behind RSS! Sorry, but I did test them and this is my verdict in VR mode, as there is clear a winner. Sorry about the bad review for you, but I’m not going to lie on this.

A great track that in my humble opinion is the 1967 Nurburgring by WilliamTRiker. That racetrack doesn't even have CSP functions like rain fx and similars. Would it be very nice to see it updated to the new standards

Hi Manuel, I downloaded and checked the track in question, I have to say that it was already very well made and also had Rain Fx, Spectators etc, so there was really little that could be done to improve it, however I modified the grass textures and desaturated the vegetation a bit.

The new tones of the asphalt and the landscape are truly spectacular, they add authenticity... although in my case there are a couple of minor issues: some flags look out of place with this extension, and for my taste, there are too many wildflowers, too many... I like it when there are a few scattered around, but here they look like a cultivated flower field. Also, they invade the edge of the asphalt at several points on the track and are rendered in an unnatural way...

I've tried to delete some of the code to keep what I like (the tones of the vegetation and asphalt), but my limited knowledge doesn't allow me to do it correctly...

Anyway, thanks for sharing your work.

Aviano was my first experimental job, and I've always wanted to be a florist, so it's fine. I'll fix it and update it, no worries. I'm starting to get tired of all those flowers, too... 😅

As for the flags, I haven't touched them, 🙄 so could it be a problem with the original track? Are you using the ClimaxF1 skin?

Unfortunately, I'd like to hear from more experienced users if it's possible to replace a texture in the kn5 file with one of my own using a single line of code in ext_config, which I'll place in a track folder.
Unfortunately, the color of the grass FX is generated based on the texture of the underlying terrain, and often takes on that jarring "brownish" tone. So, I have terrain textures that are perfect for creating beautiful green lawns, but I don't know how to replace them.

Sounds like you want to use the Shader Replacement feature in ext_config. Instructions here. Slightly more than one line (but not much), and you place the texture in the same extension folder as the ext_config.ini

Could this also be done using skins/default folder?

[shi]

I'll make a correction by adding road signs not to climb over guardrails,what lengths people go to take a selfie.. 😅
Jokes aside, unfortunately, there's a terrain mesh that passes under that area. I can't place spectators wherever I want, but since it's a random respawn, it can happen.
This should be resolved (I hope) by decreasing this specific Elements value in the layout's data folder, opening the camera facing file for this mesh:

[CAMERA_FACING_0]
SURFACE=1GRASS.002_SUB4
ELEMENTS=840 decrease value to 800 and try
SIZE=0.8,2.0
TEXTURE=content/texture/crowds_stand.dds
TEXTURE_ROWS=4
TEXTURE_COLUMNS=16
SHADED=1
DIFFUSE=0.025,0.025,0.025
AMBIENT=0.1,0.1,0.1

For future updates I will follow the advice, I find those textures much better aesthetically than the standard ones (by the way they also have different names), but what you say is right. 😉👍

Instead of using the terrain or spectator seat mesh directly, you should create a separate mesh for the spectators.
Open Track in Blender (or any 3D software),
and use the Knife tool, Loop Cut, and Vertex Slide to edit and separate the mesh.
Make sure that it does not overlap with walls or other objects.

In the case of spectator seats, reduce the mesh slightly so that the spectators do not protrude from their seats.

Simply reducing the ELEMENTS value will not solve the problem fundamentally.

It's a shame that RSS have such a hard-on for these modern formula cars when there are so many older analogue touring cars to pull from, cars that are always far more involving and rewarding to drive than these soulless digital rocketships.

Holy words !!! No more Formula hybrid please !!!

I remember that floating grass and @slider666 having fixed that a whole while ago...
I noticed that several files in my track folder are newer than the download from Legion, so I'll post the corrected version (including a config) that should take care of the issue:

Could this also be done using skins/default folder?

Well, you can piont it to any folder. In the case of using skins/default if it cant find the texture.dds it simply wont be applied

Thanks.. Very Beautiful but no drs???

completely escaped me, guess I need to research it
try this

... As for the flags, I haven't touched them, 🙄 so could it be a problem with the original track? Are you using the ClimaxF1 skin?...

Please don't take into account the colors, brightness, etc. These are quick photos, with hardly any adjustments to the settings in the photo app...

That's the "original" (Aviano by Patrickpat, V1.0, with "16k Terrain" and "Aviano re-texture" skins enabled). The flags are in place and constantly waving.

... and that is the same, but with your extension...

As I said, the asphalt and the vegetation (apart from the crowded wildflowers in first view) looks in general much better and more natural with the addition of the extension. However, the flags appear out of place, although by deleting this part of the code...

[WIND]
DYNAMIC_FLAGS = AUTO
IGNORE=marshals

... the flags return to their correct location.

I would dare to suggest that removing the code on the flags and matching the original grass texture (which is not bad at all and blends well with the edge of the asphalt) so that the tones match the more distant vegetation (which already looks incredible with the extension) would be enough... or at least, to my taste. Some times, less is more.

Thanks again!
