With the Memorial Day weekend in the US of A fast approaching, I'm doing my usual bashing URD, VRC, and RSS versions of Indy cars around that venerable old lady of a track, Indianapolis. I've used just about every version available, and they all, well, frankly leave something to be desired. Yes, each and every one is well beyond my capabilities (modding and driving!), but with Indy being such an important track, you'd think that there'd be a top of the line, "Project Reboot" level of looks and performance of the track for use within AC. I think the comparison was made obvious to me as I'd just finished running a full IMSA grid on the Reboot Daytona - well over 100 fps and just glorious to look at while you're tooling down the straights.
Then I switch to Indy, and, well it just looks like a game, no matter which version/flavour of the track you're using. And performance, well on the same machine where I'm getting a minimum of 100 fps at Daytona, I'm lucky to 30 fps. And that's all 40 grid slots at Daytona, only 22 at Indy (using the real world 33 turns it into a slideshow rather quickly).
So... just a hope, that one of our group of fantastic track modders take notice, and give the old girl a facelift! Mr. Penske did it to the real track. Hopefully our mod won't cost nearly as much as his did
Cheers - and sorry for being whiny!
