The sim racer Youtube channels all praise this game and the hype is so big. To put things in perspective AC Rally only peaked at around 8000 users yesterday whereas EVO peaked at 26.000 Steam users. Sims are still marginal games for relatively small group of nerds like us. :D

That said my first impressions are good. I only played with the Integrale and I like how controllable the car feels. Slides, steering, everything. It's a good rally game for sure.

Here's a review of another (supposedly) real rally driver. He says the braking is wrong.

Rally has always been something of a niche within a niche, especially in this day and age... even if AC Rally had been released with more content out of the box I don't think it would've got significantly more people interested.

In my case I wasn't even aware of it until the day of EA release and as it is there isn't all that much to do for the more casual drivers, I'll probably fire it up a couple more times to try out some more combinations but then it's going to be shelved for a year or so while they (hopefully) add some more meat to the bones.

What next they out source a drift game and co join?

Could rallycross warrant it's own title, or do we think we might see here it in AC R? Maybe some other off-road disciplines?

A sim karting game maybe, pickup KartKraft?

I'd thought a while before Kalke Rovenpera announced leaving WRC that a game based on his YouTube channel could work; rally, drifting, porsche cup was it, now F2, and maybe F1 in future?

Maybe an AC universe sim (and simcade driving model) game combining them all would work, a Forza Horizon type title without the nonsense? Could be a full digital twin of planet earth by that time, but who knows what AI will be capable of..

I haven't driven AC Rally enough to comment anything about the gameplay. It felt good but that's all I'm qualified to say.

Some people don't like GamerMuscle but I really like his stuff. He's not always right but it's exactly this kind of constructive criticism that improves these games.

Yeah, and actually not too bad. I'm getting a fairly stable 50-60fps - resolution is not great but until I get a gaming PC further down the line it'll do!
Really surprising. Must be very well optimised even in Early Access.

Can't use my wheel with my Steam deck and no chance im attempting this game on the Steam Deck controls so I won't get it but glad to hear it works quite well.

So switched to fullscreren and forced the resolution to 4k, which isn't possible in borderless this has seen my frrames drop to around 90 on the high graphics preset. Still feels pretty smooth I don't really feel the need to hunt for the 120 that the TV can do.

I have been driving the Rally 4 Pug in the Assetto Corsa Rally Events, I am really struggling with the brakes, this is the biggest cause of death, either locking up and sliding off, or not enough pressure to slow down and make the corner, I have tried moving the balance rewards, which helps a little with the locking, but may reduce overall stopping power. They feel really underpowered right up till you lock up! I feel like I am braking very early, but this may just be a POV / sense of speed thing...

I have even set my pedals (HE Sprints) to max force (65kg) to try and help mitigate this, the next step will be to try some sort of curve on the braking input rather than linear as I have it set now.

This time game eats time like nothing else, hours just disappear when playing!

Aye, gotta say I’m absolutely loving it right now, in car view with a DD wheel and it’s just a wondrous feeling to actually feel the weight of the car and how it affects every single aspect of your driving.
Cannot recommend this enough and anyone sitting on the fence really should buy it

I come from a rally country Finland. People love rally here. But it's not something we watch on TV. They don't even show it on TV, only the highlights.

But if you look at some old Youtube rally clips they can have millions of views and the incar footage for casual viewers is way more impressive than any track footage. The best drivers have absolutely crazy skills. I always thought rally has a huge potential if they somehow could make it TV friendly.

I'd kill for a rallycross-core game, but I don't see its market being large enough to really support the development of a full title. If it was packaged with some other near-rallycross disciplines - like the now dead Nitro RX or Americas Rallycross or the alive RallyX - for a full-fledged campaign there could be some depth and some very different tracks ... but since rallycross can't even be managed properly by FIA I don't have much hope on a rallycross game coming together. FIA is finally getting their ish together but the process has been sad to watch as rallycross has really plummeted in exposure and quality the last few years.

That's what they're all complaining about... the brakes. Put ABS on from the menu, it helps.

I have been playing since launch, as usual I always get Kunos game on day one. This is supernova game, but Kunos is involved and it feels to me like a Kunos game. Very worthy of the Assetto Kunos name in the title.
I am not a big fan of rally simulation and never found it interesting in other title offering, either dedicated or even some mod in AC.
ACR just changed that, I can hardly stop playing it.
The laser scanned roads, both tarmac and gravel, with how they use UE5, look so good. Next gen realistic. The way the cars act, they feel very realistic and engaging, very intuitive, makes for very immersing simulation.
To me, ACR is a must have and the first title in years that feel like we have turned a page and made progress in simulating driving cars with a simulator.
Well done Kunos and Supernova.

This is a strange game to have come out. I had to give it a try. It's beautiful, the physics feel interesting on a controller - I can definitely feel that that's quite a bit of depth that may translate to my wheel when I get an opportunity to run it.

I'll have to say though, the performance is quite great and the game is beautiful. I ran it at 4K with not many hitches.

The only thing I have against it at the moment is the loading screens. They're miserable.

The level of detail is just insane.

From the gameplay videos I've seen, this might just be the greatest rally simulator of all time. The visuals are stunning (though the SSAO and shadows need work), the sound design is stunning (the doppler effect in the replay cameras is better than GT7's, IMO), and the driving mechanics look absolutely superb - no more floaty mush that the DR series was known for, the cars look grounded and appropriately weighted. The open questions to me are:

How good and varied will the environments be?
How much content will there be?
How much support will the game receive?
How good of "a game" will it be? (This is a big sticking point to me with Rally games, they are often fun in terms of driving but offer basically nothing else and I'm not confident a game from this team will be any better)

Damn even this guy managed to drive quite well using keyboard. It must have handle so great on controller too.

Edit : so apparently he used a wheel on this video but he commented on how he used keyboard and it works well too. My bad.

Make of this what you will, but I'm hearing some cars are leaked for much later versions.
