At What point will you concede?

I dont tnink it comes this year and I dont think SONY will tell us that because of the thing that everybody hopes GT5 comes before this Christmas and does not buy a XBOX and FORZA ... just like last year.

If I remember correctly the release of GT4 was announced about 4 weeks before it actually was released. (Feb/March 2005)

So I think a time-span of (about) 4 weeks is enough between the announcement of the release day and the actual release.

I'm still convinced it will be released BEFORE christmas (2010).

So the latest date to announce the release date will be around 13/14th of november.

Keep in mind they dont want to give us another false date. Thats the reason its taking so long to announce that date.
They want to make sure they REALLY can hold this date.

We are all waiting for this new release date thinking it will be final and that they will stick to it. We already fell for the Nov 2 date, and a whole bunch of dates before that. At this point Sony/PD lost all credibility when it comes to meeting deadlines. They will eventually release GT5 be it Dec 2010, 2011 or 2012. All I know is, for me, their release dates are meaningless.

Now when they give us a release date for GT6, who's going to fall for it?

So how many weeks are in December? 6? If they need a 4 week window and want it out by Christmas then the date would be given no later than Nov 27th as that would be 4 weeks before Christmas.

BEFORE christmas shouldnt be just 1 day before. They will want to have it on the shelves a week or so before christmas.
(Let's call it "in-time" before christmas.)

they said the release date will be a surprise ,they might not give us a date. sow we think it will not be released this year, and than when it is the beginning of december they,ll suddenly give us a date like 5 days before they give us the game.
sorry for english.

December 24th will be a very sad day as that is when I will give up hope.

They wont do that.

I would "seriously" consider buying an Xbox and Forza 3 if we dont get at date before early december, because then i thing we are looking at a Q2 2011 release :nervous: at earliest, because of all the other big titles comming for the PS3 in Q1 2011 (LittleBigPlanet 2, Mass Effect 2 Test Drive Unlimited 2, and more)

But still hope for a december 2010 release though :)

(I will probably never buy an Xbox or Forza, but the thought would cross my mind :scared: )

I'd concede the release date when they tell us the release date.

Um, dude .... OP

Let me tell u something. Even GT4 came out in 6 months or a year, YOU and Everyone who is patiently waiting WILL STILL BUY IT.

Heck, I'm going to get Duke Nukem Forever as well. And so no, i will not "CONCEDE" lol

IF No information come from Sony regarding the release date at what point will you think it's not coming this year?

IE. 1st week November
2nd week November.

Im past that point. I dont believe its coming out this year.

Forza 3 is amazing. If you love racing sims you should probably own that game anyway. I like it more than GT 1-4.

I'm giving Sony till the week of 7 November. After that, I think it'll be out next year crawling through the ruins of Sony and PD's reputations.

I have been there. Not bashing Forza or anything, they ARE good games. But not more than that, to me.

Mid November the latest to announce a release date. Some time early December to release the game. Thought technically before Christmas, dates such as the 24th, will be too late. Most purchase decisions have been made, hardcore GT fans will still buy it. But a late date will not translate into good sales for Sony. Since most customers will have replaced there potential GT5 purchase with another item as a Christmas gift. Sony needs enough time to get the game into peoples hands while they are still making decision on what gifts to get.

Second week of November to give us an announcement or ill just see what else I can waste my money on and maybe pick GT5 up sometime in the future when it gets cheaper

This begging for a release date has become an unhealthy obsession. I know I'll enjoy the game regardless of when it is released. If anything, I would prefer it if Polyphony decided to release the game in 2011. The last thing I'd want them to do is release an unfinished or flawed product.

Edit: Come to think of it, it's already been confirmed that the game has gone gold, so what is everyone worrying about? :odd:

The evidence for the game being gold but missing its queue is shaky at best; there's that one Gamereactor interview and that deleted Blu-ray.com post, but that's it. No one else has tried following up on that and no one's confirmed it.

Also, people had really big plans for it this week, including taking time off work to get their hooks into it, which have been ruined. I wouldn't be able to play it til mid-December because of grad school, but I will be out of town and probably on a vacation with my mom and bro over the holidays. I was hoping to read the Apex magazine over the break and to leave the game with my dad so he could have something fun to do while we're gone.

I'm worried that it'll hit my mailbox while I'm visiting my parents or that I won't have a chance to play it over the break if it ships late. I have bigger things to worry about, but until I know when the game will be out, those concerns about GT5 will always obsessively be at the back of my mind.

I want a date just so I could plan accordingly and not think about it anymore.

After we slipped past this magical "end of the month" window to announce a release date I think the hope of seeing it this year has severely dried up.

We know Yamauchi is quite content to sit with the game on his computer for another six months making needless alterations. He won't voice any objection to it slipping back to mid 2011; and that's what it will be. If it misses Xmas it won't magically appear in January or February.

As much as one can theorise how it makes sense for it to come out for Christmas, I can present a good reason why it won't. The promise of GT5 year-in, year-out sells consoles by the truck load. The reality of GT5 probably won't see the sales of PS3's continue at that same rate once people have picked apart it's flaws.

They can still announce it anytime in november, so I guess when it's december and there's nary a sound I'll throw in the towel and join the GTP Riot.

To be completely honest who's to say they can't announce it on the Monday before release? You know the whole "available tomorrow" thing.

The constant anticipation for this game over the last 2 years has been difficult to say the least!

Let's not forget that a large proportion of games are sold online now, postal services are always overstreched in December so anything after the 17th becomes a "it may or may not get there this year" for a lot of people.
