At What point will you concede?

come on dude. are you serious. do a poll on here and find out how many people actually read that stuff. people want to post and respond to post. not read print that requires a magnifying glass. as long as there is respect maintained and no spamming most forums are good to go. I for one did not read every single line. i know what not to do in a forum. i am not 3 years old. being readable is the main thing. everyone doesn't speak english as a first language. at least they try to communicate with the world on here. heck, some people that do speak english can't talk or write correctly. this is not english class.

Even non-English speakers know enough to capitalise things. No one expects perfection, we just expect that you don't completely fail at the English language. No one is perfect and the mods, as well as long term members, understand that.

And the AUP is not in small print, it's the same size as everything else. At this point though it should probably be in 72pt font and flashing.

And on the threads topic? I'm not conceding. The game is released when the game is released. I can think of worse things in the world then not having a game. Looking around there are a ton of awesome games out right now that should keep anyone entertained, no matter what your tastes are.

The interwebs is serious business. Seriously though, elitism has no place in a GAMING forum. What are you, 75 years old? Shaking your proverbial fist at all the whippersnappers from Croatia with poor engrish? NOT IN MY BACKYARD WAAA WAAA! Get over yourself.
👍

+1

When you've been a member for 7 years, not because you play the game (which I don't, haven't for a year and certainly not buying a PS3 until GT5 is on the shelves) but because it is has a huge variety of quality posters covering a vast variety of topics you can tell me I have no right supporting the owner's rules. 👍

Most *active* members are more interested in post content than post articulation - particularly when it wasn't that bad..

Yes moderate when someone's being abusive, racist, offensive, sms shorthand, but not for capitalising an 'i' on their first post...

Nice lowercase w there. It's difficult for me to read what you wrote. Please capitalize that and Ill continue reading the sentence.

It's all one sentence that was broken up by a quote box. I don't see what you are attempting to prove here.

This.

And you missed an apostrophe.

Back on topic - I'm excited for GT5, as are my kids. Regardless, they're not running around complaining that it's late and we "should" be playing it already. My pre-order will stay at Gamestop and I'll pick it up when I receive a call from them that it's in. If that takes another year, I couldn't care less.

well this is a forum, not an essay. caps or no caps, its still readable. secondly its spelled capitalize ( just to help you out) thirdly, by me saying "small print" it was a figure of speech. no one reads that stuff. if people did and don't agree, they wouldn't be a member. with that said i am done. i am getting off topic defending kitchenboy. i just don't see why some of you jumped this guy when you all were able to completely understand him.

anywho, from all the post i replied to here, i never answered the original topic. being a gt fan since gt1, i could never concede. just like everyone here ,regardless when it comes out, i'd get it. sony knows it has a loyal gt fan base. they need to target and covert other racing title fans.

Dear Admins and "grammar enthusiasts" arguing people should not be allowed to post unless they use proper grammar.

I can understand an attempt at trying to keep the site professional, respectable and free from idiocy, but using proper or improper grammar has very very,...very little to do with this. Excuse the pun.

The most important thing about post is what someone is trying to convey, i.e the message or thought they're trying to communicate across to other people.

Regardless of how its achieved, this is the most important thing about a post. Heck its the reason for the post. People dont post just to use proper grammar. They post to say something!

If you're going to claim that just because there is a lowercase "i" Instead of a uppercase, or correct punctuation isn't isn't used, then this will somehow render you unable to understand the message they were trying to get across, you're either a Artificial intelligence with an account on these boards, or your clearly taking the issue totally out of context and purposely forcing yourself not to want to let their message get across to you because you don't like something about people who dont use proper grammar.

Lets also not forget Its an internet forum! We should not have to be uptight and waste effort to be sticklers for ridiculous rules that contribute little to what forums are about, discussion.
These aren't lets practice proper grammar and english forums.

Heck even at university, any essay or piece of work you hand in, any good decent scholar would never mark you down in a significant way even if you used 5 year old grammar, if the actual content was respectable. Unless ofcourse they were some angry sticklers for rules who care very little about truth or fairness.

Bringing up, and hiding behind the fact that using proper grammar is in the AUP when you sign up is a clear indication to me that you have no actual argument for why its THAT important to abide by proper grammar rules when posting, so you just point to the sign and tap it.
A rule is a rule for a reason, simply stating the rule exists is not a reason.

In short I think you will tick a hell of a lot more people by forcing them to abide by silly rules with little reasoning behind them, instead of letting people contributing something meaningful in a less stressful way.

A post full of proper grammar is meaningless if the content is garbage, but even a totally "TXT" style post without a single use of proper grammar as long as you've understood the message, is still all there in spirit.

Your girlfriend breaks up with you over txt. Doesn't use proper grammar. Sorry honey I dont know what you mean did you read my AUP when we first starting dating? please send something eligible to me.

Well besides the fact that that situation isn't actually very similar at all... last I heard it's fairly simple around here; if you don't like the rules that the administration has laid out for you (that you agreed to), then find somewhere else. I could be wrong, but then again, this is a privately-owned forum, Jordan can enforce whatever rules he wants, and if you're joining and agreeing to follow them, purposely disregarding them doesn't help much.

FLIGHT50 - Claiming ignorance shouldn't mean you're off the hook. I can't drive 50 over the limit on the highway and tell the cop that pulls me over that "nobody reads the signs".

On-topic: The news today could mean a solid date announcement tomorrow from Kaz... but I still won't count it for much until a few days before. Most likely, until about 24 hours before... just to be sure.

I hope someone lost their job over this.

I said back in '09 that if it wasn't out in the spring 2010, it'll be out by xmas 2010. If it's not out by then, at that point I'll get upset. Until then, I'm just going to continue to bottle up my anticipation/excitement/rage/anger/frustration until I can release it on the first hapless noob I race.

The longer I wait....

If you don't like the rules, leave? Doesn't bother us, & it's one less group of posts we don't have to read. Win-Win....Well, for us, anyways.

lol txt writing endangers the lives of other people in the forum!

Did they release the schedule of the presentations? Because it might not be announced until the last day of SEMA.

Well, GT awards are tomorrow which is the perfect time to announce it. Add to that journalists will no doubt ask him what the release date is.

This is a good example of why capital letters should be used. Even with the commas and periods it looks like a giant run-on sentence.

Wow...the english grammar thing is lame, like its been mentioned up there, somewhere. If people understand the posts content, thats cool, but moaning over grammer rules out colloquilism(sp I think) also.Goodluck with that...,this is GTPlanet, right? Or was I mistakely on the ww.OxfordDictionary.com/forum/HardcoreEnglishSpeakersOnHighHorses forum?

My house was recently broken into, may I use your wall of text to keep out intruders?

Try reading what you just wrote. Jesus. Christ.

👍

I have to agree with this.

I'm thinking either a Jan 2011 release or really late December, but givin that late December is holiday season I'm probably wrong on that one, but if history has taught us anything then I guess with these idiots over at PD and Sony anythings possible.

Who knows, might even be a 2012 release.

You do realize the game has gone gold, right? :odd:

I really think that Sony is going to rush this to get it out the door before Thanksgiving.

That being said, I don't think it will happen. I'm planning on 12/7/10 as the release date in the States.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be, considering it's an initial-ism. Double-posting on the other hand....

The edit button is there for a reason.

Don't 'spose anyone has considered that just because they are "stamping" doesn't mean that they are doing it fast enough to have all games ready to ship any time soon? Who is to say that the games aren't being stamped at a smaller BD production facility that can technically get a game set as "gold" but can only provide 1/10th of the copies needed for a world-wide release?

I'm not trying to be a pessimist here, but keep things in perspective. GT4 was released MONTHS apart varying on regional format. Just because discs are being made somewhere doesn't mean that more than one region is going to get the game before the new year.

Just because it's "gold" doesn't mean the wait is over.

^ Very true, however I'm just glad it's working and he can't tinker with it anymore.

Capitalise is correct too.

And if you don't agree with the rules you probably shouldn't be a member. The reason they are there is because we do not want to turn into the rubbish pit of the internet like 4Chan.
