So, Asia gets a "Chinese New Year" competition. Where's the Australia Day competition?! They've shafted us again!

If you are talking about the new one I'm going to have to agree to disagree. The new Monaro wouldn't even be in my top 10. But that's just my opinion.

Fair enough, yeah I'm referring to the new one. But only the series 1 with the original wheels (VT GTS style) and none of the scoops or wings introduced with the VZ (see below)

Clean, simple, beautifully proportioned. Just my opinion though. (And yeah its the show car but couldn't find a better pic in black).

I think Kaz's credibility as a car lover goes out the window when he dismisses Aussie cars. People the world over have an affection for Aussie cars especially those that have driven them and if I had a dollar for every Pom that has told me that they would love a Maloo in the UK I could eat at a fine restaurant.

And both Bathurst and V8 Supercars are well known in the US and UK, I know a number of people overseas who are much bigger fans than I and most ordinary Aussies are.

My dad and I will watch the V8 Super cars on speed channel when we can. Also we would really like it if you guys could send some utes this way. Thanks in advance!👍

Why would a licence be needed to use Bathurst as a track? Its made up of public roads, you can't like own public roads. No different from including the local highway or your driveway in the game in that there should be nothing to stop you. They don't need to ask permission, and even if a licence is needed, they should just do it anyway, when silly little rules get in the way, you break them, simple as that. Kaz really needs a smack in the head for not being aware of and not being able to include this legendary track

All public roads are owned either by the Government or public companies, so breaking those silly little rules could cost you millions. It's similar to car licences, hence why PD were unable to include Porsche

If PD can do a close copy of Monaco and call it a different name then there is nothing to stop PD from doing the same with bathurst. A slightly modified version and a generic track name is better than no version at all.

It's been done poorly before (Toca World Touring Cars springs to mind). And besides, if they as poor a job as they did with the TG test track then I would rather wait until they are able to obtain the licence.

It would have to be spot on, otherwise the "Greg Murphy Challenge" would be pointless :)

I would much rather have the "Russell Ingall Challenge", How many cars can you barge out of the way in one lap.

:) I thought Ingall got really clean over the last few years.

Rename it the "Paul Morris - Dude is a dirty driver" challenge.

Good point actually, since the year he won the championship he has been racing alot cleaner.

Speaking of Paul Morris I would love a "Big Kev" VT Commodore DLC.

Your opinion wasn't shared with the automotive journalists in the U.S. What you called clean and simple, they called plain and boring. They likened the styling to an automotive appliance. Like a refrigerator. It sold for a few years, heavily discounted, and depreciated like crazy. Tbh I liked the "new" GTO (and I owned a 1970, actually), but the styling wasn't very good to begin with, and got worse when they tried tacking "boy racer" hood scoops and bodykits on it.

Really? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the city of New York has well over 1/3 the population of your entire country. Seems pretty silly to spend much (i.e. any) time catering to such a small number of people.

Correct me if i am wrong but didn't your country vote in George Bush?
It would seem that you have negated your right to have an opinion.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't have anything to do with anything, nice lame attempt at a troll though.

Population comparison has nothing to do with it. Otherwise we would have all Indian and Chinese cars in the game. As you can see below the US is small in comparison.

China 1,342,010,000
India 1,193,330,000
United States 311,965,000
Japan 127,390,000
Australian 22,546,000

Funny I have a P. Morris and a G. Murphy b-spec driver. I also have a m. Weber and a L. Perkins

Now that's cool.

I'm a Ford fan. I own a G6ETurbo, what an awesome car for the money. 0-100 in 5s flat, not bad for 1850kg. The 80-120 overtaking is incredible, better than any V8 Falc/Commy I've experienced. It has to be the ULTIMATE sleeper when it comes to new cars sold in Australia. I'm STILL very annoyed they dropped the FPVs (GT and F6 Typhoon) because the F6 was the closest thing to my car IRL.

Have to say I've always REALLY liked the CV8 Monaro. Especially a black (must've been HSV) one that I saw on the road and fell for quite a bit.

In fact, whenever a backyard concept of a "hardtop" BF/FG Falcon appeared, I'd think "DO IT FORD, DO IT" so we have something that looks as good as the modern monaro.

Hi all. Aussie from Melbourne. Been into GT since it came out, it's the reason I bought a ps. Been into real cars since my old man started a second job rebuilding and blueprinting GT falcons when I was 5.

Bathurst should defiantly by included. It has to be one of the most brilliant tracks in the world, right up there with nurburgring and spa. It is also suitable for all types of car (although an x1 over the top of the mountain would be intense)

Adelaide would be a good inclusion for the same reason

Both these tracks have enough international exposure to sell as DLC around the world, not just in Australia.

As far as cars go, my personal wish list would be :

Ford XY GTHO Falcon Phase III
Ford XA GTHO Falcon Phase IV (I would accept the XA GT RPO 83)
Ford XC Cobra (Bathurst Edition, not the 302 Auto)
FPV GTP Cobra 302kW
FPV BF mkII F6 Typhoon (I own one, it rocks, and I prefer the feel and drivability of the BF compared to the latest FG)
Walkinshaw SuperClubby
A smattering of HSV's (just to be fair)
GTS 350 Monaro
A9X or XU1 Torana
An Aussie Charger
P76 leyland
Last spot would be a toss up between (don't laugh) a TRD Aurion, or a Mitsubishi 380 (I think they made a RalliArt type edition, but don't quote me on it.

Anyhow my PSN is ricbrabin, feel free to add

Yes, the GTO looked plain and boring, because some US designers took what what was a perfectly good looking car and added some American flavour. It looked like crap, just like most American cars.

The best looking US car at the moment (the Comaro) was designed in Australia and there's a chance the next Corvette could be too.

Australia has a very proud racing history, it has nothing to do with population

Australia is still in the top 10 most influencial countries though.

I'm afraid that isn't what I've heard.

All the rumors on any Car Forums or websites I've visited lately point to the next Camaro 2013/14 to go on the smaller Epsilon platform. It's looking likely that Commodore's Zeta platform could be an only child again, which would be a huge shame.

Corvette will never be made here though, even if the Aussie dollar was low.

It would be a shame, but I'm sure Holden are working on their next platform as we speak. I'm not sure what their timeline is but it would have to be smaller and lighter if they want GM to use it globally.

The Corvette would never be built here, but Holden Design were one of 10 GM design departments engaged to provide a design proposal, and if their work on the Comaro is anything to go by they might be in with a shot.

To change the subject a bit, I just had a look at the official top gear lap times. The Aussie cars are surprisingly quick, the vauxhall Hsv gts equivalent is as quick as an M5 and right behind the gallardo. It's too bad they havnt tested any falcons
