Automobilista 2 - Discussion Thread

Nah I'll take Steve's word with all his years of positive reputation over yours, thanks though.
I like his videos as well. That is why I was surprised by this pure agenda video. I don't know what he was up to but it is stupid. Again. If my 2070 super system that runs all my, older games, (except D2 :banghead:) at 4K 60 is not able to run the same games as a PS5 as well then that does not make it the equivalent of a five year old PC.

How hard is it to install mods in AMS2? I assume it's not as easy as drag & drop like in AC/ISImotor sims.

Finally bought this in the last Steam sale after seeing they added GT1 cars, now just need to find time to sit down and properly play it

At first its a little confusing but once you get the steps right and understand the process it isnt a difficult process. The biggest annoyance is that you need to deactivate the installer before AMS 2 gets updated and then reactivate it again after the update.

Fair enough. Do you have to do that separately for every mod you have or is it a one-click process?

In any case, this game isn't lacking in terms of vanilla content so my modding is likely going to be sporadic. I think in AMS I've only ever installed 5 mods, compared to hundreds for AC.

Hi Legend.
It's a more than one click process but not very complicated. There's a pattern of things to do to get the cars in game. Once you get comfortable with the pattern, you won't think twice.

There will be a MODS folder and you'll be putting JSGME in the root directory. In the MODS folder you'll have a folder called bootfiles, in there you'll add lines to two text files that show the game there is a car to scan for. Next is running JSGME, you'll add the cars first, the bootfiles after and then you can start the game.
Sounds worse than it is.

A new update has landed, patch notes are here:

Good stuff so far, but I did notice that the wiper animations are missing for the new GT40 Cup, you still need to switch them on and they then clear the rain, but no animations.

The more races that I race with AM2 the more that I like it.

On ultra settings looks great.

Can anyone comment if the spotter setting works. I have turned it on to be on all the time for both, however does not seem to work for any races that I have done so far.

I finally joined to the club and it looks good. Improved PC2? What could be better. I like differences in physics even I am not sure if physics is better. Everything new is fine to me.

I'd say the physics are better. The fact that driving on a kerb doesn't have a 50/50 chance of ruining your race is better right of the bat.
I know you shouldn't have to but in PC2 that can be eliminated with a combination of LSD settings (preload/power/coast)

I know, but the difference between the two is night and day basically. AMS2 gets this right. PC2 wouldn't get some of the flack it gets if it wasn't for the damn definitions they gave the kerbs. Way too obtrusive. We've all watched racing for years and never have seen real cars behave like that on track.
You are correct, the LSD helps. Not that type of LSD, the other type. Wait, what are we talking about?

Mushrooms :)

I don't know about agenda. But it does seem oddly cherry picked admittedly, and I question its usefulness. Maybe he just wanted to test the high fps-output capabilities of the PS5. The test is very specific though. It's at 1080p 120hz. I'm pretty sure the PS5 would obliterate the 1060 card in any resolution above that.
It's also worth remembering that it's early days. PS5 games will surely get a lot more optimized as time goes by.

What about controllers? I tried to find good settings but it's typical PC problem. You need high sensitivity and not so high linearity but PC has it in one slider. Is it possible to tune it somehow in files? I couldn't find it. My problem is with around 55 sensitivity linearity is relatively too high but sensitivity is not high enough.

I've driven so many LFA mods in other games (and vanilla games), and none of them ever sounded accurate to the real thing. You'd think that's a first priority for this car.

Best sounding LFA I've heard is in NFS MW 2012 funnily enough.

I finally bought season pass because I think it's a good idea to support Reiza. The game looks good on a gamepad, it's like PC2 but physics is very different. I hope in the best. And I am new to Steam so if anybody needs some racing friend I am ready but I don't play MP too much yet (mostly hotlapping and AI).

I tried several cars and tracks but physics is rather weird :D Why is it so different from anything I played? AMS1 is great to me after few hours but I am still not sure how to control cars in AMS2. It's so different...

edit:
At the end I switched to AMS1 for some time and I really love handling and physics there, it's so good. How is it possible? It looks like I need a lot of time with new physics but sims should be relatively similar, right?
