That CITV thing in the tank brings up a question... If the driver of the tank has this unlocked but you don't, can you still get in a tank as the third person? Or do you need to have that unlocked as well in order to be able to join the tank on the CITV?

I don't believe you can. The driver needs the guided shell and the third person needs the CITV to use it. Though they can still designate if the driver does not have the guided shell.

First thing I did when I got the game was flip both my helicopter and jet controls to opposite sticks. I felt it was far more intuitive to control them since I've put extensive into the Ace Combat series back in my PS2 days, and flipping the sticks made it feel more like that (though not perfectly).

Remember that L2 is the air brake. You can out turn most of the other jets by using that because most people don't use it.

I really hope they add a practice area for jets and helicopters and maybe add air superiority. I can't believe both weren't in at the start.

Same thing with me. First time I got into a heli I crashed it within 5 seconds. I'm right-handed in everything apart from flying in video games where I use southpaw.

Had that twice yesterday! Joined a team of 3 vs 9 (I thought it would be 6vs 6!) and 5 vs 11. Sucks, because I get the quit stat then.

On the kill cam it showed his health at 100% so I didn't even hit him. I know my aim can be off at times but come on.

Had this a few times too - at least I know I am not going crazy. Enjoying the USAS I see!

Yes and no to be honest.
I've tried it now on most maps and I think I'll probably only use it on Metro and maybe Bazzar. I still think a rifle is much better on the open maps.
If you can't beat them join them type of attitude.

So the Jet advice is bundled here, so that we all don't keep repeating ourselves......

1. You can fly or drive to an objective/flag and park for some easy-ish points.

2. You can try changing the controls around, some find it easier with the controls default for shooting and driving, but on Legacy or Southpaw for flying.

3. You can fly directly into something, such as a Helicopter, or maybe another jet, for points.

4. Use the spot function (this is SELECT on PS3) to mark the enemy [they need to be in your crosshairs to do this] and earn points, you can spam it as you fly overhead.

5. If being shot down a lot, make yourself harder to hit by not flying straight and try different views to see which one helps you spot your opponent. Braking hard and turning so that you drop onto your enemy's plane's tail worx well. Go Maverick! Iceman I got your six! Or something.....

6. You can practice flying Helicopters in the second mission of Co-op play.

7. Tanx and Jeeps can be difficult to hit unless already spotted, go for the Helicopters.

8. Never try to hoover in a jet, there simply isn't room to get into all the noox and crannies, unless you are using a Dustbuster.

9. You hover by pressing the throttle up and the throttle down buttons at the same time, but release throttle up as your plane starts to ascend, then press it again, hard.

10. Practice; we know it's hard, we are all finding it hard, until you unlock flares, missiles etc, so practice your piloting skills and help your team mates from above!

Yep it's fantastic DLC. DICE did really well with the Back to Karkand DLC as they did with Bad Company 2's Vietnam.

Back to Karkand adds 4 new maps, 8 new guns, and a bunch of new vehicles. You definitely get your money worth when you compare what $15 gets you with some other games

If you have more left over get at least the GT5 track DLC after the BF3 DLC, It was like a second christmas when I bought Bf3 and all GT5 DLC but the tracks were the best part of the GT5 DLC and the maps are the best part of the BF3 DLC (arguably)

Thanks guys! In all honesty, I used to think that people who favored BF over COD were stuck-up fanboys who thought that BF was better than everything else...I was totally wrong. This is by far the most friendly crowd in all of GTP. 👍

Yes - I friended some random guy after a good few matches against him. I noticed yesterday he had prefixed [xxx] to his name on BF3 (xxx being some clan name). I have no idea how he did it.

Hey gundalini, did you also get booted out of that match at Seine? I lost out on a handful of kills and a bucket load of supply ribbons when everything just froze. Had to reboot to get back. Good fun though, we had good run at Kharg and Metro.

Amazingly no I didn't get cut off at Seine (I think the unplug the phone method helps for sure), I initially thought you had bugged out on me. I was happy to see you back. 👍

Kharg was good fun, thanks for jumping in as the gunner in the tank with me. It makes a huge difference when you've got someone to help/watch your back in a tank. I even managed to bring down a chopper with a tank shell, that doesn't happen often.

Metro was real good fun apart from that MAV thingy buzzing around, he killed me once.
Damn you Mavman fight and die like a real man, don't have some robot do for you.
Pretty sure you also revived me a couple of times after my usual Metro Rambo tactics.

Our last game at Damavand was a slaughter, in the end it was about 5 of us v's a team of Colonels. At least we saw the round out unlike some of our "teammates". One thing I don't do is quit because I'm losing, I save that for in between rounds.

Kharg was good fun, thanks for jumping in as the gunner in the tank with me. It makes a huge difference when you've got someone to help/watch your back in a tank. I even managed to bring down a chopper with a tank shell, that doesn't happen often.

That was a good run, pity there was a half decent chopper pilot around and the flyboys on our side were hopeless so he tore us up once or twice. Still though, I'm almost at unlocking that proximty scan thing now

He got me 3 times . Those things take a lot of damage no worries too. I unloaded 1/3 clip into it and it just flew off. I think you revived me to after I got caught with my pants down reloading the shotgun 👍

They're like bugs heading for the light oooo aaaahhhhh oooooh look at that pretty light thingies....loook! blip!

So far, I haven't been on much this week, apart from one epic 3am attack, when I had work at 7:30 the next day.

I was absolutely useless at work yesterday as a result.

Doesn't help when you get there and all your boss wants to talk about is how far away he sniped someone from the night before, and you're just thinking 'yeah ok, that's great, but don't look too closely at how bloodshot my eyes are, I don't want a formal warning for tardiness.....'

It's like the guys at DICE said "hmm, these choppers are great, but our new SAMs are quite good. Hey I know! Let's use IR flares. And let's make them the very first unlock! Screw you SAM lol!".
