Couldn't get online with it so started to play through the Campaign mode on Hardened (the one before Veteran) I got through to the Favela level and i presume i'm near the end of it but i'm stuck at a checkpoint with just a shotgun and a rifle with no ammo and no grenades left either. There are two enemy guys who spawn close by, but they only have shotguns too. I'm just getting pinned down by guys in the distance on roofs and a guy closer to me on a balcony who keeps bobbing down and i just can't hit at that distance with the shottie. Very frustrating.

Don't worry about exterminating the favela. Just shoot to keep yourself alive and run through the place. Trust me. I bought the game at 9pm and stayed up playing until 6am. Beat the campaign, levelled the museum, and then got to Sergeant II in multiplayer.

For me, MP is hit or miss as far as K-D ratio is concerned. Some games I'm kicking ass (I got the Bow Down title) and others I'm just getting absolutely annihilated. Often by the same guy.

There are miniguns mounted in certain maps. It would suck hard though. You'd be dead before it spun up.

Vector + rapid fire is a much more effective bullet delivery method.

Killstreak rewards don't add to your killstreak, funny as it sounds. Which is kind of better in my opinion. It would be far too easy to get some of the high perks that way. But then again I never see myself getting a 25 kill spree and getting a nuke either.

Just fired up the PS3 and there's yet another update for this game...geez. 1.03 now.

For those who played the 'No Russian' mission and watched the Tarantino movie 'Inglorious Basterds':

I couldn't help but think about the opening scene of IB, where Col. Landa asks the French peasant to speak English. Not because it's a cheap director trick to let the characters speak English instead of French, but because the jews hidden under the floorboards can't understand English, so he can discuss their demise with the French peasant without them knowing and fleeing (ultimately resulting in their deaths). This only becomes apparent later in the scene.

In MW2, Makarov asks you not to speak Russian. At first, you think this is so nobody will know the Russians did it, but it's actually because they want to make it appear the US are behind the attack (ultimately leading to your death). Also, this is not completely clear until the end of the scene.

BTW, Christoph Waltz would make an excellent villain in MW3.

Found this nice bit of advice on Eurogamer today on setting the PS3 in game brightness correctly to maximize the image quality:

Face-Off: Modern Warfare 2

Bottom line: if you're an Xbox 360 owner, you should be making the image brighter, and if you're playing on PS3, it's really a massively good idea to lower the brightness level significantly, otherwise the lighting - one of the really impressive things in this game - simply won't look as good as it should. Many people online are discussing the PS3's washed-out image, or talking about a "grey filter". In truth, there's nothing wrong with it. It's simply a case of tweaking your settings.

For the record, these are the settings we ended up using that gave us the closest colour match between the two versions while at the same time offering the best picture. Mileage will vary according to your display, but assuming your screen is well set-up, this is the ballpark. Give this a shot and tweak from there.

When I see them I either run around them and knife them or I happen to me behind one and knife it. It take one knife hit at the back to stop it working.

The nuke is wild. I had no idea what was going on.

I don't know why but a lot of games i've played it migrates host. Sometimes more then once.

I also can't seem to get into the game. I'm not a fan of most the maps and get lost all the time. Hopefully I'll get used to it soon.

I keep getting killed very easily, and I have a reason to suspect it's my connection speed. Every time I see an enemy, I aim, shoot about 10-12 rounds and he kills me with a quick burst. Then, watching the 'kill cam' I see how he spots me first, fires a bunch of rounds, and I never get a shot off or maybe just one. How's that frickin' possible?

Numerous times, somebody spots me, I see him, I aim, I'm dead and I see that he NEVER got a shot off! Again, watching the 'kill cam' I see he shot me a few times. What's going on? Is it my own connection speed causing this, or somebody else's?

Oh, and how do I mute people? I hate these stupid kids who talk, hum, whistle and sing and act like total idiots THE ENTIRE GAME! I'm not playing again until it's their bedtime. I also hate how they leave their mics on and I can hear their mothers yelling in the background. Total morons.

Once you hit level 19 try Hardcore Team Deathmatch guys. I felt the same way about trying to kill people in the regular mode. Hardcore works a lot better (and levels the playing field to stop any certain weapons from being too powerful).

I don't know, man. That's pretty weird. I'm not great at the game, but I've had my moments, and every time I'm killed it seems legit.

Your situation seems a bit off. Maybe you could set up a game with a friend on here and do a test run to see if it really is your connection? I'd help you out, but I'm playing on the 360.

I've been using M4 with silencer but was trying for the thermal scope. I got killed by one of those and watched the 'kill cam' and it looked like a huge advantage. But, the next time I play I'm going to use the SCAR-H. I think it has more power than the M4.

I'm not good, because I think my internet speeds are too slow. I have twice many deaths as kills.

I made it to sergeant at least, but I see it takes a long time to reach staff sergeant. I'm going to keep playing so I can at least play with some of you guys before I send the game back.

I am not impressed with the thermal scope, so far. I'd opt for ACOG, if I were you. I'd take iron sights over that thing. If you like SCAR, stay with it. By the time you have bling perk, you can go for a silencer and whatever sights you prefer. At least for me, it makes the game much easier.

I'm level 3. So can someone explain why I was playing a level 33?

That will happen. And if you are like me, you will keep getting owned until you are close to level 20. Hang in there.

In the end i put CoD4 back in and carried on aiming for gold cross which i'm just two prestige levels off now.

Wow. You've put in a lot of work since we played last!

So I just got a care package at the end of a match that had an EMP in it...Not really as awesome as I had hoped for. Big ripply thing in the sky and my electronics still worked.

I had opponent EMP go off, and my red dot died. I could not stop laughing, as my red dot sights just turned into a micro window. I was still owning with it though.

I got my first funny MW2 story(had many in CoD4): I was in a close firefight with this guy, then a friendly Predator rocket hits us both. That thing is LOUD, and it hits so HARD. I just went "whoa!", started cracking up. Just few matches later, I'm looking for a target from the Predator, I see two guys engaged in a close firefight. My teammates reaction was exactly the same. "Whoa!", then he was just laughing his ass off.

I don't know why but a lot of games i've played it migrates host. Sometimes more then once.

Migration during the match? I'm not sure if it's the same on PSN, but on Xbox Live, when the host leaves, now it's able to switch the host mid-game. This is a great thing. The connection speed Solid Lifters talking about comes in play here, as if I'm not hitting what I'm shooting at, I leave, unless I am the host. Once in a great while, I forget, or don't catch that I'm actually the host, and I end the match early on everyone. Some players don't give a crap, they just leave. Now you won't have to get that match, streak, etc., interrupted. It is one of the best new features in this game. And on the connection, yes, when other guys starts owning me with lightning quick reflexes, first thing I suspect is the connection speed. I'm usually stuck with three bars.

Another super cool feature they've added allows us to use the killstreak reward you passed by. I had this 1-2-3 custom killstreak set up. 5 kills, Predator. 6 kills, airstrike. 7 kills, chopper. When I hit two kills with a Predator, it will take me straight to the chopper. But I can hit that whatever button you push for the streak reward, and still get that 6 kill reward of airstrike, after you already got the chopper in the air.

Let me tell you, that 1-2-3 punch is so damn satisfying.

Yea I have host migration mid way through the game. It stops, migrates , then starts back up.

My Killstreak 3 are care package, unmaded drone missile, and stealrh bomber. I don't remember the kills needed. Oh I also found that the FAMAS is a really good gun, quick kills .

not sure about the rest of you, but i must say i have had a baptsim of fire on MW2. It's been a very long time since i last played MW online and to jump back into the fray was a frustrating yet satisfying experience.

i'm not sure if this a normal ocurrence but as soon as i jumped into my first game i was instantly put against lvl.30's +..Hell there were even a few lvl 40's. The sheer panic and frustration made me get back to my old ways very quickly, but for people who have never played MW i feel that this will detract from the great experience.

A noob to COD wouldn't like to get annihilated in their first match going 1 and 21 ( last night saw a poor guy with that K/D). I hope IW fix it up for the sake of branching out to new players.

Camp. I know that everybody acts like they never, but especially in the beginning, slow your game down. I'm not saying that you should just stare at the doorway the whole game with a RPD, but try to stay behind cover as much as you can. Try to get behind, or flank the enemy. You should avoid running smack into the middle of a big firefight, if you are dropping left & right in the match. If somebody accuse you of being a "camper", remember that easily way over 90% of the players camp. Sometimes, it's simply a smart strategy against superior opponents.

And to Nismo & Zrow: NOOOOOOOO! I rely on your UAV's!

I didn't like the Thermal scope. The problem is, it's stuck on too high of magnification, which makes it only useful if you aiming down a very narrow street, which there aren't any, really.

I hate the SCAR. I cannot get half the kills with it compared to the M4. The M4 just stays on target much more than it, and I've been using the M4 the most and that is what I'm used to.

Also, I'm having trouble getting on line games to work. When I end up back at the barracks, it's difficult to find a good game.

Oh, and I'm really getting tired of getting gunned down by Predators, Helicopters (both of them) and Harrier Jet attacks ALL AT THE SAME TIME! There must be a limit to how many of these perks you can have at the same time.
