It does not help that the random teams I am on are not very good either. Having good teammates that cover each other also helps tremendously.

Yeah, that is the problem with MW2, it doesn't reward teamwork (SnD being the exception). Unless I am playing with my clan, I don't bother with teamwork at all, it is not rewarding, and most of the time is self defeating.

More than anything I am just trying to learn where the majority of the action takes place. I need to slow my game down in general at the moment. I am moving too much for my own good.

I like to skirt the periphery of where the action takes place, using natural obstacles (like the edges of the map) to cover my flanks. it is rare that I go into the middle as I use such a low look sensitivity, I cannot cover every angle effectively. If you have a high look sensitivity though, and you are a runner and gunner, the middle is where it is at. 👍

A good place to fight is within the channels, ie the transition spaces between where the big fights usually take place. You can get lots of kills from unsuspecting runners n gunners who are trying to get the tip on your team.

Another good strategy is to work a particular area, and stick to it religiously. This doesn't mean camp in a corner, but rather stick to a certain part of a map and learn the angles. For instance, on Wasteland, I will work the area from the white church, almost up to the helicopter. It is a big space to cover, but over time, and with practice, I have learned the angles associated with that part of the map. 👍

I always say too, that it is not how many times you kill, but how few times you die that is important. If you can get 20 kills, but have 20 deaths, then you are not doing yourself, or your team any favours. I beleive the emphasis should be on denying the opposing team the opportunity for the kill, and not trying to reach the top of the leaderboard.

One other thing that I have noticed, and is quite important is the amount of time you can commit to the game. I used to play roughly 10 hours a day, and I noticed the difference in my accuracy and my kill/death ratio. Now though, I only play a few hours a night, and both have suffered greatly. You really have to put the hours into to this game before you start to reap the rewards. Casual game time will not make you any good at MW2!

It is also a good idea to get into games like this at the very start, because your strategy will evolve as the gaming community does, and you will have an understanding of why things are done in a certain way. You will also know what works, and what doesn't, either through your own experimentation, or through observation.

I would say that the gameplay in MW2 has matured now; That is, most of the gamers that were there from the beginning have sound strategies and tactics to tackle most maps. Those that adopted the game later on, will not be as tactically sound or even as good, as those form the beginning because of this.

I've been trying to use the RPD and half the time I can't even get hit markers when I know I should be hitting them.

The RPD with a grip and iron sights is one of the best guns in the game. If you can use it with a silencer, then it is even better! 👍

Also, is it just me or does it seem to take longer to get aim down the ACOG in MW2?

A touch. Honestly, I never main the ACOG on anything, unless I am getting Thermal unlocked. The recoil is pronounced and if you get hit while firing, your gun bounces up more than without.

I think the sights are off on the RPD. Looking at it with a red dot the dot is more to the left of the iron sight. I put a holographic sight on it and its marginally better now.

RPD used to be in my rotation, and I had to have it with open sights, grip, stopping power. That thing is beautiful in long range. Nearly useless in close quarter fights though.

The secret in CQC, is to NEVER take your finger off the trigger... I think they call it spray and pray!

That's my middle name, spelled exactly the same way & every thing. I use P90 for the close though. :sly:

You know, I was reading your main post, and it's creepy how similar my philosophy on the game is to yours. Not the first time I noticed this either.

Edit: I forgot to add about the RPD. That thing can be unstoppable with Grip+FMJ. I have to have the AT4 with Scavenger, so I stopped using the FMJ.

RPD w/Stopping Power, grip, FMJ, open sights. You can just mow down bodies on Rundown with it! It sort has that monster truck feel to it.

My youngest brought up a fun question:

If you had one firearm attachment that you can have always, yet have two more with Bling, or a one more with regular option, which attachment would you select?

If you had one Perk that you can have always on, yet still have three to chose from, which one would it be?

Simple for me. I'd combine them both for the best use of 'always on.' Attachment = FMJ and Perk = Stopping Power Pro.

FMJ would allow me to kill quickly and free me up for extended mags and holographic sight. Stopping Power Pro would allow me Cold-blooded.

I'd go with extended mags and Scavenger, which with akimbo Glocks/M93s and Sleight of Hand would be beastly :D

Scavenger Pro gives you extended mags, already. I don't think they get larger, but I've never tried.

Plus, I could always pick up a weapon if I needed one. I do it all the time.

Stopping power sounds like a no-brainer, but Scavenger's nearly as critical for me.

On attachment, it'd have to either red-dot, or noob tube. I use the assault rifle, and I go with either FMJ, or silencer, but depending on the map.

Scavenger only gives you more total ammo; extended mags gives you larger clips. More ammo in a clip and more ammo total - it's a win-win situation :dopey:

No, which attachment you would have that wouldn't count as an attachement per se. Like an attachment you can *always* have, irrespective of perk (I'm looking at you, Bling) or other attachment(s).

Same deal with perks.

No, you're not hearing me. If you get Scavanger Pro, you get ammo off the battle field, plus extended mags (larger magazines) for your weapon. You want both. You can't have both, can you? Extended magazines + battle field ammo with extended magazines?

!

Although OMA with the RPG would be better, personally... :D

Can't have a RPG. OMA takes away your secondary.

No no, you're not hearing me :p Scavenger Pro doesn't give you extended magazines - the attachment of the same name does that - rather, it gives you more reserve ammunition.

SCAR-H without Scavenger or extended mags = 20 round magazine, 40 rounds in reserve (60 total)
SCAR-H with Scavenger and without extended mags = 20 round magazine, 100 rounds in reserve (120 total)
SCAR-H without Scavenger and with extended mags = 30 round magazine, 30 rounds in reserve (60 total)
SCAR-H with Scavenger and extended mags = 30 round magazine, 90 rounds in reserve (120 total)

:)

OMA/RPG - I know. I was merely saying that if OMA+Jav was possible, OMA+RPG would be even better.

Then what's the difference between Scavenger and Scavengar Pro?

Pro gives you the extra ammunition. Ordinary Scavenger is just the ability to resupply. :)

Just fired up the PS3. It's 'extra' mags, and I thought it was always 'extended' mags. My mistake.

Funny to note, I only played an online game to see what it was. Didn't intend to play a whole match. Of course, I was doing awesome. Got three kills with a Predator missle. Haven't done that in a long, long time, if ever.

Basically, Scavenger Pro is similar to the Bandolier in Call of Duty 4, right?

Blame IW for that, I can see how you could get confused :)

a6 - yep. Scavenger Pro is, for all intents and purposes, identical to Bandolier. Minus the restocking of course :dopey:

My youngest brought up a fun question:

Very neat question! 👍

If you had one firearm attachment that you can have always, yet have two more with Bling, or a one more with regular option, which attachment would you select?

My always on attachment would be a Silencer and I would pair it with the SCAR-H.

If you had one Perk that you can have always on, yet still have three to chose from, which one would it be?

Assuming I am playing a non-Hardcore mode, the always on perk I would choose would be Stopping Power Pro or Cold Blooded Pro. Either way, both would used; the ability to have extra knock down power and avoid detection from Killstreaks is a very appealing one. :dopey: If it was a Hardcore mode, then the choice gets a little more interesting and I would have to put some more thought into the decision.

Whatever you picked would be there for all weapons that have the ability to use it. Extended Mags wouldn't work on the .44 mag, but FMJ would. That's why I'd pick that. Nearly every weapon has FMJ.

Plus, FMJ + Stopping Power = Death Machine

Right now I'm using my secondary for main weapon. I'm up to the Striker. That thing is awesome. I 'spray and pray' with my main, which is a FAL with FMJ, Stopping Power and Extended Mags.

Great minds obviously think alike! :sly:
