I was playing and about five minutes in I realized I don't care for this game anymore. I don't know why but I just don't like it. I love COD 4 and had around 3 days of playing time, but I'm sick of this game and have about 20 hours, even WAW as more intersting. The only reason I play it is because I have it. It's just everytime I play I lose interst and quit. I tired of always playing against people who throw flashbangs and grenades everywhere, people shooting M203s everywhere, and people with LMGs who just spray and pray. I'm done with this game except for some GTP game nights, but other then that, that's it.

I just played for twenty minutes. Found a ten minute game where I scored 1 for 5, so I'm getting better with the controller. Yep, only one kill. All I'm good for is camping, and you know how I feel about that, and waiting for a guy to come running up to me. Didn't happen that much, because everybody else was camping. Great tactic I'm left with, until my controller gets fixed.

The other ten minutes was waiting to play a second game. Never happened. Done.

This game just keeps getting worse.

What were you playing with other than a controller?

You just described CoD4 for me, tbh :p

I guess I just get in really good games, because I almost never get flashbanged and fragged, or noobtubed, and come across very few LMG's. Most of the complaints in the thread thus far (except camping) haven't really happened to me :p

@Ledgendary, I believe it was the FragFX mouse, IIRC.

Akimbo PP2000's FTW ;) love that combo...
Only akimbo I've had success were the shotguns. Even with my trusty P90, I can't seem to pull it off.
I'm yet to even try an LMG. I started out with the SMG default class whatever it's name is before you could do customs then stuck with the UMP for a bit before moving to the M4A1 and getting most of it's challenges done. Then I hit the SCAR and have done everything but 2 camos. Now I'm on the ACR which I'm not a big fan of. It needs Stopping Power but I hate giving up Cold Blooded. The protection from helis, harriers and sentry guns keeps me alive longer.
I think LMGs are super nice in this game. More effective in this than the CoD4. Like Azuremen and Zrow, I also think AUG is good. I don't have LMG in my custom class, at least not on a regular basis anymore. But when I'm matched up with team full of noobs, I go back to AUG or RPD for some mass-killin'. :D
Actually, I am not sure I think that at our level you get 3000 for winning in TDM anyway, the difference is that the time can be alot shorter in demoltion. Try a couple of rounds and see what you think. Remember, demolition not domination.
I misunderstood. Domination's like the only other mode I play.

Granted, some games can be a campfest, but most of the time, if you are camping and nobody shows up, you are parked in a wrong area of the map. Right camping spot, right game, they'd be coming at you non-stop. Like you'd barely have time to reload the guns, move spots to catch them offguard, etc. There usually is a heavy traffic area or two. Also, on Derail type maps, I spend a good deal of time studying UAV, or scouting with my scope to see where they are, where they are fighting.

I hate flashbangs, too. They always get me, but when I do try to use it, they seem to never work.

I'm sorry the game didn't do it for ya. I've had moments like that, but I always seem to come back. Like in minutes, or less. :D

Very true, very similar to CoD4.

I never really noobtube'd that much in CoD4 though. In this game, I've been having to in order to level up faster. I don't know when I'm gonna reach 70!

Yea, CoD4 is the same way for me but I just liked it more, not sure why. Your lucky though I get flashbanged atleast every couple games. And it's not like one flashbang, it's usually two or three followed by a grenade. It's only fun when after all that I still end up getting them.

I barely ever try to use the flashbangs, the rare times I do I usually end up blinding myself  I'm not sure why but it just never clicked with me. I'll probably play every 3 or 4 days because no matter how hard I try, I can't completely ignore it.

Sounds like how I play. When I enter places that I feel enemies are in, I'll toss my flashbangs and then storm in. Or when I am being overwhelmed and need to retreat, toss a flash bang and book it. Fairly basic stuff from my Counter Strike days (this is my first CoD game). Hell, I've even killed a few people with flash bangs.

As for camping - any real world assault situation generally favors the defenders. Limited entry points, plenty of spots to pick, so on. And this is where smoke grenades and flash bangs come in handy.

If you take out the flash bangs and special grenades, and remove the camping, it would sound a lot like Unreal Tournament.

As for the machine guns, I use the AUG in short bursts 90% of the time, generally sniping across the map. Sometimes I'll go full auto when being stormed or hip firing if I run into someone. Though generally I just knife them and continue on (if it isn't laggy)

That stuff is fine. Thats realistic, but I hate the people who see you in the middle of a map and just throw them. That makes no sense, they see you and instead of shooting they just throw it and hide, that's what I find annoying.

What were you playing with other than a controller?

The controller that's busted is my SplitFish FragFX V2 controller... http://www.splitfish.com/fragFXv2_info.pdf

I paid $87 for the thing, (now available for $54) and it just quit on me. Bought it 7 months ago. It's the ONLY reason why I play FPS games.

SplitFish promised to replace it with a new one. However, they didn't send me a RMA # or any other details for returning it, which I find odd.

Are you using a mouse!?

I've never really been into FPS before this one, and I've never played one on PC, so I find that hilarious.

Are you using a mouse!?

Not anymore. It's busted. I can't aim with that damn joystick crap. The FragFX ain't actually a mouse like a PC. It's a mouse that mimics that action of the analog stick, so it's different than a PC mouse, but the right hand unit is a 'mouse.'

I bet 80% of the MW2 online players use something like the FragFX.

I have seen that mouse before, it looks cool but I am not using it on a game designed around a controller.

Managed to kill one of my team with a care package today. Rather amusing to watch it absolutely nail him :D

I love watching that, too! I've even killed myself with one. Didn't think it could happen, waited too close to the smoke, and crunch!

When somebody kills themselves with their own care package, and I always take it from them. I figure, if you're stupid enough to kill yourself with it at this point in the game, you shouldn't get to have it.

I am officially terrible at team death match. I dont know where i go wrong ! except from managing to kill anyone!

Strange thing is - if i play Hardcore team deathmatch or Free for all - i'm always positive kill/death.

On normal team deathmatch ive seen myself having some truly awful games like maybe 10 negative on more than one occasion!!

Its like everyone has instantanious reactions / super powerful weopons / and an ability to always kill me from where i cannot see them!

Anyone else having the same experience or could someone advise me on how to do better?

I dont mean to moan, im just asking for advice ! Oh and my screen is setup well - brightness and ability to see is not a problem, dont know if im having lag issues - doesnt appear to be !

No, I got that with COD4 as well.

I haven't really done any online in MW2 yet - too busy getting married :D - but I've managed to get -1 from my 3 TDM games so far. I expect now that everyone's had 2 weeks to learn the maps, I'm going to get owned when I go back.

Don't worry, i've slowly been getting worse the more i play.

Starting to get an urge more and more to go back to CoD4.

Is it really that bad online? I am very inconsistent online... One game I'll have a 27-3 K/D score and the very next I'll have 8-18 or something like that... but I dont seem to have any problems with campers, I always try and get a UAV up ASAP. The radar is your friend... ;) Use it wisely and sometimes you can even hit things you cant see visually but you do see them on the radar.... :) I simply adjust my play style to what I see in the first couple of minutes in a round. I do get annoyed however that people know the maps well now and in games like Domination the moment you go to the first flag near you you get blasted by grenades, flashbangs and M203s.... other then that I dont find online annoying at all... as a matter a fact I think MW2 online is a GREAT improvement over CoD4. But to each his own, as long as youre having fun right 👍

Ahh good job its not just me ! I thought i was the worst COD player out there !

Campers arent an issue for me - although i do find myself going back to try and kill them, using some tactics of course - maybe flashes or stun grenades.

I try to run around the map and hope to catch people out who are creeping about but i find myself dead more often than not.

I still have fun and dont let it get to me too much, I just find it strange how bad i am at team deathmatch, in COD4 and WAW i could do better than i do now.

I'll take your advice Blitz - might help me out a bit!

No problem 👍 Im sure there should be more people with some advice though... I wanna learn some new tricks too since Im not the best at this game either :) So to anyone else with advice for Barryl and I.... its very welcome!

But then we can't do spec ops!

It amazes me at how easy I can go from brilliance, to rather bad. Much wider group of players than on Cod4.

Don't worry, i', up for finishing the Spec-Ops with you anytime 👍 ;)

I expect now that everyone's had 2 weeks to learn the maps, I'm going to get owned when I go back.

You'll do just fine. You'll probably pick up the main routes that people use in the maps straight away, then it's up to you to find anything new.

The only thing I blame any inconcistancies on is my connection and PING. Some days when everything is running very fluid and smooth I'm a killing machine. However when I know my screen is choppy and laggy...who knows what kinda game I'm going to have. For all I know I may end up 2 - 24 and be mad as heck. But you have to take the good with the bad sometimes, thats just the way things are.

Whew. Just finished campaign mode on Veteran. Just need some Spec Ops Veteran assists and I'm gravy.

Ending was a bit meh. Be nice if we hadn't seen it before in MW1, frankly.

Congratulations for finishing the campaign on veteran. I did it on hardened and I was always telling me : No way I won't do this on veteran. And then I went online :D

Just a question : In how many hours did you complete it ?

I haven't even started the campaign on my game yet. Just multi player so far... I might want to have a look at the single player elements as well.

It took me 9 hours to do the campaign on Regular, but I did a lot of intel hunting along the way. Then another 2 hours to finish up with any intel I missed. I'll have to check and see how long it took me on Veteran. Some parts were frustratingly hard, other parts I found myself dying less than I did on Regular. All I have left is getting all the stars in Spec-Ops and this will be my first Platinum trophy.

I haven't touched it, either. And I agree with Sureboss & Blitz, I'm also rather up & down. Much more so than in CoD4. I've gotten that over 10 kill/death thing in bunch of games. Steamroller, MVP, etc. But some games, I'm struggling to finish with an even k/d ratio. I think team making has been laughable, too, but that is nothing new!
I dont mean to moan, im just asking for advice !
Oh, you know we are full of it. good advice!

Although there could be countless reasons why someone struggle on regular team deathmatches, I'd start with this: Play slow.

I don't mean just stay in a building with a LMG, go hide in the corner. But move slow, and from a cover to cover. Let them run into your sight, not the other way around. Also, look around a lot, pay attention to the whole screen for anybody, any movements.

I have more tips I'm gonna list, but you don't have to read them all. Also, keep in mind that Hardcore & Free-for-All are very different from normal TDMs, but your struggles might not have to do with any of that. I encounter so many unexplainables(not a real word) & coincedences, it's not even funny:

Most important might be just being ready for the match. Do you know your way around the map? If you don't, make sure to check out the layout in private match mode. And once you learn the maps, study how teams like to begin the match. You could score couple kills easily, and very quickly, if you know where the other team like to camp, or route they take at the beginning of the matches. Being able to predict much of their movement makes for easier TDMs.

Once you know your way around the map, get an idea of how the enemy might operate on it, you can start choosing the right gear to go in the match with. If you do well on Hardcore, but not on the regular TDMs, maybe you need more stopping power. Or maybe you need longer range, or quicker spray & pray(P90 baby!). Experiment, find what works for you. Personally, I recommend working towards a thermal scope upgrade on something like M4, ACR, SCAR. Not great for close range, but excellent from mid to long distance.

I'll make this the last one, use a cannon fodder. :D Let some sucker lead, you still move from cover to cover, when the enemy start shooting at the cannon fodder, you shoot back! :p You don't have to blatantly steal kills, but try operating behind your teammates(halfway decent one's). Operating in numbers is not a bad idea sometimes in TDMs.

I haven't really done any online in MW2 yet - too busy getting married :D
Congratulations, Famine! 👍 Go easy on the video games, (soon-to-be)married man. :D
Don't worry, i've slowly been getting worse the more i play.

What level are you at? Because I think improved toys & perks they give you at higher ranks, they can certainly help. Also, I think(this goes for barryl as well) kill streak set up can always be tweaked. If you are not getting long enough streak, you could go for a something like 3-4-5, ending with a Predator missile.

Don't give up yet, and there will be bunch more noobs(like Famine!) who will join in late, come December, and we will feast on them! :D Just keep working at it. 👍

Found some interesting bits and pieces. Apparently, while offering better zoom, the ACOG scope actually makes the recoil worse than iron sights, by quite a bit. Switched back to the Red Dot Sight on the FAL and finding I am getting more long range kills now since the spread is smaller.

Also, I've found that the HeartBeat sensor will ruin you. I've found it to be a crutch that you use instead of your ears and common sense. Plus the delay on it is killer.

Heartbeat sensor is cool, and I enjoy it as an attachment that comes along with the pickup weapon, but I never equip it on my own weapons.

Speaking of up & down-ness in this game. It was semi-triumph, mixed with major pwnage.... of me. Unfortunately.

Very first game with my buddy, I go in, and get absolutely & thoroughly owned by this 1887 runner. Somehow, he's out sniping me with his ancient shotgun, when I have my ACR. Literally from a block away. Last minute of the game, I just sat in the corner of the map with my coldblooded perk, so I wouldn't hurt my team's chance at a comeback. We were able to go draw, I went 5-13. 5-13!

I was playing fine after I settled down, then they matched us against this team that raped us for something like three games straight. This top guy was just level 52, but he probably shot each one of us several times. On our team, each game, we had one person come out positive.

After three games or so, I bailed. Then jumped in again, and of course, with tens of thousands of players online on normal TDMs, they put me back in the same ............lobby. Other team recognized me. :sly: Now I'm mad at the other team, system that puts me back in the same hellhole, and myself for getting pwned repeatedly(except 1 game, I was the best player). I decide to stay in. We lost. But, :D I got to call in my first AC130, and while it was a low scoring match, I finished game best 16-1, after some crafty camping. By the time I was up on the AC130, my chopper was gunning some down simultaneously, which was cool. The other team did that to us for probably all the games before this last one. Last one, because their best player bailed before the game even ended. :D:tup:
