I've got to upload some of my designs on this thread this afternoon. Some nice ideas here.

Edit: All variations on a theme, but here's some I had lying around.

These tracks look so much better than the tracks that spew out Hermann Tilke's photocopier. He should look at this thread before designing or "Tampering" F1 tracks.

My original circuit rebuilt and reanimated.

Mount Greylock Colosseum Circuit

bd6s.jpg

Sitting at the foot of Mount Greylock in northwest Massachusetts the track is overlooked by the Veterans War Memorial Tower. It is a semi modern grand prix circuit that bridges the gap between the glorious old autodromes of the past and the technical racecourses of today.

The main spectator area is a grand colosseum styled after those of ancient Rome providing a perfect stage for contemporary chariot races. Paying homage to the greatest pilots to have competed throughout auto racing history, the theatre is guarded by bronze statues of drivers such as Nuvolari, Clark, and Senna.

Here's one I made

Picture the turn four section as kind of an downhill Eau Rouge. Turn one is like turn one at the Nurburgring GP circuit.

Length: 4.7 km

Dead thread is dead.

If you remember a while back, I posted a large amount of horrible tracks that were effortlessly scrawled on paper and were aptly considered "Tilkedromes" by the community. Looking back at them and seeing how horrible they are, I revamped them to something with some life to it. Over the next few posts by my I'll be posting my revamped tracks and describing them turn-by-turn.

Special Stage Route 9 An urban course undulating on and around several major highways. Although the elevation change is scarce, the course's mix high speed bends and tight turns brings both great thrills and hidden dangers.

ozl0CCv.jpg

Turn 1 is a wide U-Turn from one directional highway to another. Turn 2 is a wide left on a slight decline merging with a perpendicular highway directly underneath. Turns 3, 4 and 5 make up the hook, a special section made just for the race course. The first two hairpins are a sharp descent to ground level, while the large bend connects with the actual roadway. Turns 6, 7 and 8 is a low speed chicane similar to Casio triangle from Suzuka. Turns 9 and 10 make up another low-speed bus stop. Turns 11 and 12 are a slight S bend climbing up into a 20 degree banking, Turn 13 being a large, banked sweeper. Turn 14 is another U-Turn similar to Turn 1. Continuing down the road cut off by this turn will link up with the first hairpin of Special Stage Route 5. Turns 15, 16, and 17 are a quick left right bend but is also very narrow. A sharp climb follows this section and drops into Turn 18 as another large sweeper linking with the start/finish straight.

My fantasy Red Bull Ring.

os5Lrs5.jpg

Kram1s has only made this one post. This is my assessment of this track.

Turn 1 Big red flag. It is asking for a massive first lap pile up. Straighten it into turn one hairpin.

The chicane after the first hairpin is unnecessary unless there is a lack of run off. Removing it turns the corner at the top of the track into an epic corner.

The first s after that becomes the overtaking spot. Two S's in a row is one too many though.

Therefore the second S should be replaced by a 90 degree left leading to the south loop.

More thread deadness...

Black Forest Raceway is a course similar to the Nurburgring in that it is a thin road winding its way through nature. Corners are a nice flow of smooth bends and tight corners. (I won't go corner by corner like I've done, just by major sections)

Y8ESZk5.jpg

Turn 1 is a smooth dip from the speedway type road to the thin winding one. Turns 2-4 make up a slight ascent, but is quick enough to render turns 3 and 4 blind. Turns 5-10 are on a descent of increasing quickness, to the point where turns 7-10 are taken as high speed kinks. Turn 11 is an uphill bend that can be taken at reasonable speeds. Turns 12-16 make up the tightest part of the circuit, with turns 14 and 15 in a tunnel carved through a hill. Turns 17-20 are the fastest turns on the circuit, with turns 17, 18, and the straightway after as an uphill climb, turn 19 cresting the hill and diving through another tunneled section to the final turns of the circuit. Turn 21 is a steady rise back to the start line.

What happened to activity in this thread?

Montfair Street Circuit is a fictional street circuit made to be a step up from Monaco. As the fictional area is located near a mountain face, the circuit has both the elements of a city course, followed by tight switchbacks along the mountain face.

uqJ29KG.jpg

Turns 1 and 2 are similar to Massenet and Casino from Monte Carlo except they are much tighter and are on a gradual downhill rather than an uphill. Turns 3 and 4 are bridged by a downhill grade similar to that of Seattle Circuit. Turns 5, 6, and the straightaway after are a downhill climb on about the same grade as the dive into Nouvelle chicane from Monte Carlo. Turn 7 is a sharp right, followed by Turn 8 as a sweeping bend crossing underneath the central hotel the track revolves around. Turns 9 and 10 are a simple bus stop chicane. Turns 11-13 are on a steep uphill highway stemming from the switchbacks that surround the mountain adjacent to the course. Turns 14-20 are all mountainside switchbacks on a downhill grade. Turns 21 and 22 are on a steep decline diving towards the city course. Turns 23-28 is a complex of tight corners winding between parking lots, with turn 28 being a pointed turn tighter than La Rascasse from Monaco but not as tight as La Source from Spa.

This is a track I made in GT5 in the Eifel location. It's 2.26 miles with 11 corners. I have tested about 200 different cars here, each with fully tuned power and weight.

Turn 1: Long right corner at the bottom of a hill.

Turn 2/3: Slight lean to the left before a tighter right turn, all over a hill. Probably the most difficult part of a track possible- if you go too slow you'll lose even more speed than normal because it's uphill, go to fast and you will fly into the wall on any sude of the track.

Turn 4: Slight left bend

Turn 5: Tight right-hand corner

Turn 6: Easy left corner

Turn 7/8: A pair of right curves whil going downhill.

Turn 9/10: Right, then left medium-length corners

Turn 11: Tight Right corner uphill onto straight.

Tokyo Shibuya Circuit:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6203464 Full Course - 3.43 miles - I originally wanted to keep cramped minor roads out of it, but that proved infeasible in the end. The result is what I think is a very nice mix of fast main roads and slow, difficult inner-city roads.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6203499 East Course - 2.55 miles - This eastern circuit dumps some of the claustrophobic backstreets for a similar, but shorter, course. It might even be as good as the full track.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6203471 North Course - 2.40 miles - By going right where the Full Course goes left, the fast northern section becomes a legitimate circuit in its own right. There are still a few tight streets and a hairpin here, so don't get complacent.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6203495 Northeast Park Course - 1.53 miles - This course connects the fastest sections of the course, centered around the sports facilities in the northeast section of the area. A few sharp corners to keep you on your toes, but much of the circuit is hammer down.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com?r=6203485 Northwest Short Course - 1.35 miles - A short northwestern section. Average speed is still fairly high, but there are still tight streets and the Yamate Dori hairpin to keep things interesting.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6203511 South Short Course - 1.00 miles - The cramped and technical southern section of the course, split off for use in shorter races with slower cars. Good luck finding a location for a "hot" pit - I did the best I could but that parking lot would probably have trouble handling tire changes & refuelling for 16 cars a la GT, let alone larger races in real life - unless the pit was set up creatively.

EDIT - this track is might get updated at some point, since I scoped out some of the roads with Google Street View and found that some of them were way too narrow. Unfortunately this redesign will reduce the number of shorter courses available and possibly make the layout more boring - it'll have a much larger focus on straightaways now, with fewer highly technical sections.

Austroring is a fictional course set in Austria in the spirit of Hockenheim and Nurburgring, with corners ranging from fast, speedway type sweepers to winding, tight turns through nature. The sudden changes of elevation bring constant surprises to this course.

p6zsW3M.jpg

Turn 1 is a mirrored version of Parabolica from Monza on a slight uphill. Turns 2-5 are all on a rapid decline, diving down to Turn 6 as a very quick uphill sweeper on a camber. Turns 7 and 8 are the beginning of the tight forested section of the course being on a gradual climb. Turn 9 is the peak of a small hill, following through a small valley into Turns 10 and 11 on another steady climb. The long straight following is a continuation of the incline, peaking about 3 quarters of the way down, and beginning to descend towards the start/finish. The section containing Turns 12-14 is a very narrow road on a camber, as pit entry occupies most of the inside area. As turn 14 straightens out, the road starts descending on a very rapid grade through Turn 15, where the road flattens out on the start/finish straight.

Mt. Aso Raceway is a very fast Japanese racetrack with extreme elevation changes as it is located on the side of a mountain.

mx8ndWp.jpg

Turn 1 is a very quick left hander on a fairly stable elevation. Turn 2 is a long bend on a very rapid decline, diving into Turns 3-5 along its Cliffside. Turn 6 is an uphill climb on the same grade as turn 2. Turns 7-9 are on a downhill, while Turns 10-12 are a steady rise to the top where the start/finish is.

Come on people; I can't be the only one that has good ideas for tracks.

No wordy descriptions here, just a couple of city tracks I made.

Probably not, but I prefer the tracks people create from scratch, rather than the endless onslaught of gmap city tracks.

Random question, can you see the pics I upload?

On Topic: I agree with you, although there are some good ones in there, like the Oslo city track a few pages back

Welcome to the Willow Springs GP circuit.
This is my own vision of an extended Willow Springs circuit that could be used for international series as well as lower-level local series. The extended track uses a large portion of the original "Big Willow" circuit, in addition to parts of the Horse Thief Mile and the "Streets of Willow Springs".
