Can we upgrade brakes in the game?

GAF is saying we cant, but I want confirmation from some else who has the game. Tuning my brake balance was huge for me in GT3 and 4 and I would hate to see the feature removed.

You can tune your brake balance, not sure if you can actually upgrade brake discs and pads though.

A 100% realistic would be if you could just replace drum brakes with hydraulic disc brakes or fit bigger hydraulic brakes only if bought rims with a greater diameter before.
Just a speculation, but maybe thats the limitation here.

👍

Yeah brakes are the MOST IMPORTANT mod you can ever do to a vehicle. There is almost always room for improvement. I'm very curious in how detail PD went into brakes. In RL type of brakes, balance, and compounds will make or break your track car. But I guess there has to be a stopping point before PD will push away the casuals.

Any road car has brakes that will overcome the grip of the tyres. What is the point of brakes that, as soon as you press them, the tyres just lock up? Better tyres are the most important upgrade, but that's for a diferent thread.

As I understand it, the point of upgrading brakes in real life is so that they work longer and don't fade. Better brakes don't stop the car quicker, that's down to the tyres. If brake fade hasn't been modelled in GT5, then why do we need upgraded brakes?

yeah I probably should have said next to tires. I already expected the cars in the game to have great tires seeing that they are fully upgradable. And I didn't even think how in depth the brake model is, and if there is fade involved. I don't know how they would work in brake modulation into the game. You can't feel the car like in RL.

oh yeah one good point in upgrading brakes in RL other than fade and service life is brake modulation. That definitely helps you stop faster and you can control the brakes better during threshold braking. Assuming you have good tires of course. And yes you are right the tires of a car determine the overall total braking power.

Yeah too bad there is no brake fade. In real life, I was driving a Corolla, 2002 model I think. After just few times hard braking, you could smell the brakes and for a while they did not brake properly until cooled off. Maybe GT6 will have this.

But I agree, in GT4 I only purchased race tires over brakes, it was waist of money. Also some cars will have GT race mods on them, I bet those will change brakes.

That would be cool, but I'm curious how they could work in a brake fade model without making it too punishing on the player? It would have to simple or have an off option because some casuals just wouldn't understand. I can see a lot of, " I upgraded to race tires and my brakes don't work? what the hell is going on?"
