Can't Prevent Drafting in NASCAR Final Event

I have literally driven inside the yellow line on the concrete area for this event. No matter what, the AI seems to be able to draft me anywhere I go, and they always spin me out on the 9th lap. Suggestions?

Tuning Section go there for a good set up 👍

NASCAR = Drafting = Equal Cars

AI Sucks in that Race so Luck is needed aswell .

The AI is drafting off of each other to catch up to you. If you hug the yellow line, like you mentioned, you'll still be able to maintain your lead.

When I finally got to the front I just kept an eye on my mirrors and would do my best to block the draft pack.

Now if only I could figure out why ANY of my 6 over level 22 Bob's can't win it...
Without fail at lap 18 he just gives up on the front straight(after the brake check of course...)and no matter what the orders are he makes no effort to take back any positions...

what i do is just stay right on the back bumper of the 1st place car till the last lap on the backstretch and then i take the lead. otherwise you will probably end up wrecking if youn just try to block for all 10 laps

I won pretty easy with this setup.

Downforce 35 F 55 R
Top speed 236 mph
LSD 60/60/5
Ride height 15 F -15 back
Brakes 2 F 2 R

The AI catches up at the end of the straights but I pull away in the corners. lead the whole thing.

this race is difficult with a d-pad. Still loads of fun though. It's probably been my favorite event. Just sit back for most of the race and start moving your way forward with a couple to go. Don't try and be a bully and bump into cars. Watch your rearview mirror. Make your passes smooth. Get behind another and stay on their bumper. If someone goes flying by with a string of cars following, jump in line. Make the pass for first on the last lap.

it's my favorite event too, but then again i like nascar :)

pd does a much better job of re creating the drafting physics than ea sports ever did with their nascar games

Just a quick note: Hopefully you did a search for the numerous threads about this race and followed instructions on turning off ASM. It makes a world of difference and renders this race laughably easy. Let the AI draft -- they won't win.

WHY LAP 9?!!

Seriously, I sit back until lap nine and move up, and they've bumped me the entire race, but on lap nine the smallest little rub sends me on two wheels into the wall or completely airborne into the grass.

I like the challenge, and I understand it to a degree. But the AI in this game is honestly quite terrible for a game that calls itself the "real driving simulator".

No. That's not real driving.

I just sat back in last and stalked them until the start of lap 9 (can be lap 10) and just took a massive run up/draft and got to 1st with half a lap to go. They stay as one big pack so you can get to first in half a lap. Easy

This is what I did after about 20 controller throwing tries of getting pit maneuvered about halfway through the race. I then punted the leader on the last lap and headed for victory.

You're wrecking on Lap 9 because that's when you start to get nervous. The problem isn't with the AI, it's with you- the AI doesn't wreck you unless you try to move into their line when they're going much faster than you or are already alongside you.. The Daytona race is actually one of my favorites in GT5. Learn to slipstream and you'll easily be able to take the lead. Then learn to block right- BEFORE the cars are alongside you- and you'll be able to keep the lead often. Not always- you will almost never lead from flag to flag.

TL;DR- The computer is not using the PIT maneuver on you, learn to slipstream and block right.

That's exactly what I did. Got it after a few tries. Fun race series actually, I kind of like the stock cars now.

I got it after my second try. I use a Controller. Just stay low. don't try to block or you'll get dumped. Don't go high unless you can avoid turning down into the bottom lane of cars. Stay low and just let the cars run up on you and push you to the front. the high lane will pass you, but once the low line catches you they'll push you to the front.

Honestly blocking isn't always a good idea. Just ask Kyle Busch, lol

I won this easily by ramming, PIT maneuver, everything. I just got lucky that i just PIT maneuver 1st AI and end up blocking whole other AI but 1. So it's just me and other 1 are in leading, and also it's very easy to race without worry about getting yourself knock out.
