Heather and I went to see this over the weekend. We thought they did a great job with the movie and look forward to seeing it again when it comes out on DVD. Good job Pixar. 👍 👍
Anyone else see this yet?

I really want to see this film, dose it still have the bit with Michael Schumacher as the Ferrari wanting Tyres? if its still in that was quite a nice tuch.

Yes it does. When you see it you will understand why that part is so cool.

I have seen that part, I just thought It may not have been put in, I believe its also got Andreti doing a voice part too.

I meant when you see the movie. That part is really cool when you see the movie. Not just the commercial. 👍

Great movie, I loved the bit where Lightning chases the Porsche chick (forgot her name...) up the mountains & Doc Hudson (correct?) tears up the dirt track. The animation is mighty impressive, it looks so damn good. Just one complaint though...

No Lamborghinis? :(

I didn't know it was really MS doing to voice there. I watched this movie last week with the GF, we both enjoyed it. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

**slight spoiler warning**
Your right the animation was very impressive. Several parts in the movie looks soo real. After Lightning is painted I was shocked to see that you could even see the metal flake in his paint job. These new animation movies just look soo real now. :dopey:
Took me a little while to realize Owen Wilson was doing the voice of lightning.

Dumbass  Knew from the first second, but then again, I've seen Zoolander more times than I care to remember :-)

And yes - Excellent movie, the animations are so good it's borderline amazing.. Nice detail with the "tattoo" cut as well - Absolutely brilliant ! :-)

All in all a pretty good (albeit slightly cheesy) movie - But for car nuts, highly recommended !...

Great movie 👍 Funny, accurate enough to appease car people, and the cameos were all really cool :) A bit cheesy, of course, but it's a family movie, so whaddya expect?

Honestly, a car's eyes are in its windscreen? What were the animators on? 👎

Whenever I see ads for the movie on telly, I ALWAYS look at the headlights. Always. Where the eyes should be.

That would be the location that would get them sued by Chevron.

Besides, you can get a better performance if the eyes are together like that. That's what the animators are on.. the things that make it work better as a film.

I thought it was excellent, up to PIXAR's usual standard, and living less than a mile from the animation studios in Emeryville, CA, it's always fun to look out for the little references that they throw into each of their movies!
The licence plate on one of the cars is EVILLE, and when they mention cities in California closing for the big race, Emeryville is on the sign! Pretty cool!
Thought the bits with the "ricers" and the 5-storey wing, and the bit at the end where the General Jeep is giving off road lessons to the Hummer H2 with huge shiny spinner rims was priceless!

Sorry for the spoilers! :guilty:

The Miss_DA and I saw it this afternoon. Many good, subtle pieces of humor, along with some seriously laugh out loud parts.

Yes, Larry the cable guy was excellent.

Throw in the numerous car racing points, and it makes for a very enjoyable movie.

The bugs/flies was a great subtle gimmick. Even the fleeting appearance of the birds from a previous PIXAR short was great.

The only drawback was the amount of children in the movie theatre. Typical young children and annoyingly pushy parents. Even the one blaming the theater food for its offspring puking it all back up.

Great movie, will own it on DVD.

Animators can give the cars a lot more expression if the eyes are on a large surface like the windsheild. That, and headlight eyes are Chevron's schtick.

I'll be watching this tomorrow with the missues and her neice.

Okay, okay, I might've come across a little bit angry in my earlier post. :indiff:

The film is bound to be great, no doubt about that - Pixar have a knack for making great films (my personal favourite is Monsters Inc.), I just think the headlights would be a more logical place for eyes.

And not being American, I have no idea what Chevron is, or why headlight eyes would get Pixar sued by them.

It was a good movie, brilliant animation. The neice enjoyed it a lot.

And that's why I never, ever go to the movies anymore. I also can't stand that unison popcorn smacking that goes on. That "screeching" noise a huge group of people make when eating their popcorn at the same time just bloody drives me insane. I hate it! Then, all that lip smacking. Gross! Makes me gag, actually. Never again... (I know, I'm weird)

Oh, and some black guy getting his brains blown out when he started fighting with another black guy also kind of ruined the movie going experience for me, too.

The boys haven't seen it yet, but the want to. They usually go with their cousins, or their mom takes them. I wont do it, obviously. I have issues...

The location of the eyes was mentioned in a piece in Top Gear mag about the film (or it could have been CAR magazine) and Pixer did seriously consider placing the eyes in the headlamps, but the 'faces' looked unbalanced when animated. They used the windscreen as the location for the eyes as it looked more balanced in motion.

And not being American, I have no idea what Chevron is, or why headlight eyes would get Pixar sued by them.

Chevron is a very large worldwide oil company. A few years ago, they started an ad campaign featuring claymation cars animated by the folks that make Wallace and Gromit. Their cars had eyes on the headlights.

If Pixar had placed the eyes there, it would have immediately made everyone in the theater think "Oh, look... Chevron Cars." and it would have lost all sence of originality.

And again, just because something might seem "logical" doesn't necessarily make it work well in a film like that, where performance has to come first.

And what would have happened to the cars with no headlights? Lightning has no headlights, remember. The King's are pop-up. Mater has only one. That would have made him some kind of freak if he'd had only one eye.

Also don't forget that if the eyes hadn't been on the windshield, it would simply have been a big blank spot. The side windows you can kind of ignore, but it would have been very different always seeing a slate-gray blank windshield on all these cars. Remember, this is a world without humans.. these cars don't have interiors.

It's been said that the "eyes are the windows of the soul", so it's a bit more loigcal. Besides, most race cars don't actually have headlights.

Great lines, great cameos (where else are you going to get Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Mario Andretti, and Michael Schumacher in one sitting?), and superb animation as usual.

Other oddities:

- The "Cadillac Ranch" in the background of Radiator Springs.
- There's real a Radium Springs out west.
- Dinoco was the fuel company used in Toy Story, when Buzz and Woody fought each other and got lost from Andy.
- The two girls were Miatas.
- Kenny G made an audio appearance (I won't call it music).
- Luigi's a Fiat 500.
- Maseratis flanked MS at the end of the flick.
- Clink and Clank, the Tappet Bros. of Car Talk fame were the rusty car announcers.
- George Carlin was the VW van.

Yeah, I enjoyed it.
