Why are the dates an assumption on your part?... Didnt i state them on the previous page?

I don't know for sure which way Australia arranges its abbreviated dates. For example, I know that many countries use the DD/MM/YY format, but in america we use MM/DD/YY. Therefore, the assumption was that Australia is one of the countries to use the DD/MM/YY format... :)

I borrowed my dad's Primera while my car was getting fixed today and took it for a good hoon round the hills, went pretty hard and corners damn nicely, especially for a fwd sedan. Weekday mornings are the best time to go for hill drives, once I got off the main road over the hills and on to the Summit Road there were no other cars so I could open it right out and use both lanes, just like night time only without the darkness :). Though I don't like it so much when i can see whats over those vertical drops with no barrierss...

I owned a Primera 2.0e GT (as it was known in the UK), same as the one in GT4 and it was a damn fine car.

Lots of space inside, big boot, nice leather and went very, very well. Even felt the need to recreate it in GT4.

They do corner very well for a FWD car and GT4 represents them well, nice easy to induce lift-off oversteer.

Good assumption 👍

that dd/mm/yy thing confuses me sometimes. it takes me a few seconds to realize its backwards.

something about the primera in gt4: the colors suck! i'm sick of seeing tomato soup red and an ugly blue. the gun metal grey is ok but not much better.

those specs are for the 1.4l right? here in the us we got the 1.5l and a 1.6l.

nice :) i dont see many of the 1.6's around as a matter of fact either :(

Oh man, my mate had a Civic sedan, I think it was the model before that one and it was a pile of crap. It was slow and got guard rub whenever you had people in the back seat. If you're going for a small engined car get a Ford Laser/ Mazda Familia/323. Go for the TX3 or the Mazda with the same engine. Even the old 1500 injected sport model is pretty good. My mate has a heap of lasers and familias and they're so damn much fun. Our $60 Laser sport with olive paint and an electric sunroof lasted a night of diesels, paddock racing and gravel road rallying and we were giving it death - reverse-to-first burnouts, standies, doughnuts and all that was wrong with it at the end was a blown radiator hose and bald tyres.

the 1.6l being the D16A6. very similar to the SOHC ZC. sadly that engine only came in the EX model while the LX and DX got the D15B2. all used the same 5 speed manual or an optional 4 speed auto.

i guess the 1.4l d14a2 or whatever it was might have been a euro only engine.

as to what you;ve said, i think your talking about the 3rd gen civic being bad. i agree. other then drastic cosmetic changes and new engines the 4th gen which i am talking about uses double wishbone front and rear suspension while the 3rd gen used torsion beams front and live axle rear i think.

Well, if you're getting one as a keeper and plan on maintaining that thing, I wouldn't go for either the boxy Civic hatch or the old Laser... rust, man... rust. Both cars have corners and moldings that act as catch-alls for water and rust formation. Even EG Civics around here are starting to show rust.

The D15B was a great engine, even in non-VTEC form. We had a lot of fun messing that one up in my cousin's old car, before he got the SiR.

BTW, is the TX3 the one with the B16T? Or is that a later model?

i wish i had the vtec d15b but i have the non vtec d15b2 with dpfi. its only a 30 hp and 17lb/ft difference...

as to the rust, ef civics dont rust much worse if at all then any other car from that era at least. all you gotta do is maintain it right. make sure the drain holes aretn pluged up and wash it from time to time. road salt is a major problem.

Well in Aus anyway, considering we dont get alot of rain, we dont realy have to worry all that much about the rust probs.. Except for on the shore, but i dont live there.

"Only 30hp" comes to a lot when you're talking about sub 150hp engines and light cars.

From what I've seen, a major contributor to rust around here is how well the rustproofing stands up under collision damage, and older Hondas see deficient in this regard. But if you're talking about Aussie conditions, I suppose it won't matter as much.

I'd seriously like to rock an old TX3. We used to have an old Laser hatch that was a giggling good drive for such a small underpowered car.

Well your lucky you have a d15b - i have a d14a4 89bhp (should be slightly more maybe 95+bhp - as i have a large air intake and crankcase breather) . mines is a 1996 EK 3dr Hatch though!

About the rust - i have one little spot under one of my rear windows as there must be water getting trapped between the rubber and the window!

Getting rid of it within the next year though as i will be getting either a Civic Jordan or Just a regular Civic VTi with a B16a engine at the heart of things with 160bhp! 👍

Well, yes, he's kind of right the first 2 posts. Yeah there should be a bigger variety of cars, like the Civic for instance, the 1989-2005 Civic's should be in there. Maybe more version's of the trueno Corolla my friend said there are more. There should be different version's of each car. But the NFSU thing, that's just corny, don't even say that here please :scared:

i know 30hp is a lot. that was the joke.

Oh, silly me.

Every old car gets rust, Lasers may be bad but old Toyotas are worse. our $60 Laser kept up with my 2 litre Corona in a drag race till about 120kmh, those 1500 injected engines went pretty hard and have no problems braking traction given a little incentive.

The Laser did come with a turbo engine in the TX3 model, though they're rarer than the Mazdas I think. There was also 4WD models but these were notorious for eating gearboxes as are all Lasers/323s/familias. That doesn't matter when you can get a parts car for less than $100 though. Lasers are definately the perfect first car, they're cheap to run and fix and won't cost a lot to insure but are heaps of fun and you won't lose a lot of money if you buy a road legal one and keep it in good condition.

True, everything rusts. :(

I wish I could get another Laser or Escort as a weekend runabout/track car. Prices are just below the $1000 mark here for a Laser hatch (they never sold the TX3 here, pity) or a 2 liter FR Escort (rare, though). For comparison, 89-90' Civics are around $2500+ here. (damn import tax and market valuation)... and my disposable income (due to poor exchange rate for wages) equals only about $7000 a year. Crappy economy. Lucky we've got car loans, employee benefits, and cheap Cost-Of-Living, otherwise, I'd never get to drive.

Hmm. Lucly you got cheap living costs! geez. I remember when i went to Bali it only cost me like $1.70 for a restauraunt catered meal. I was like --> @_@. and >(^-^)> $$

I was quite happy..lol

Now that IS cheap.

It's about $5 here for a good restaurant meal. If it's a "wedding anniversary" special kinda restaurant, then that's $10 (x2). On the other hand, I can go outside right now and eat for about fifty cents. Last time we went to the "tourist" beach, I was surprised that you could get meals for under $2.

And people wonder why pirated music and games are so popular out in the world... with 90% of your target market only willing to spend about $5 or less on games (realistic, considering the physical media costs only $ 0.50 to produce... Life isn't that hard, though... especially since you can always snatch a copy of GT4 off E-Bay for less than sticker.

Seriously off-topic, though.

damn thats some cheap food. we've got a chinese place down the road thats like $16 for just the buffet. i'm never going there again...

i'm liking the 83 civic a lot now. i'm going on another all motor thing...

the d15b2 is rated at 92hp@6000rpm and 89lb/ft@5500rpm. the fd is 3.888. not much of a speed demon. good on gas though...

the two engines i want are either a sohc vtec d16 or a dohc zc. the only problem with the zc is the huge combustion chambers that could fit the empire state building in them. it makes my all motor side sad. the vtec d16 i would have to run odb1 though and i dont want to do that either. a d16a6 would be a best of both worlds but wont be able to match either for power output.

So this is how this topic lived so long. :D :)

by talking about real cars and video game cars. its a good thread.
