b18b1 = LS-VTEC...

by the way I got a ZC DOHC non-VTEC from Japan. The engine is enough powerful without the VTEC so I'm fine with it. I'm gonna get a b18c1 GSR VTEC when I'll have the money.

I hear all these complaints about no handas---but i've never heard anything about 99 Civic SI's?it's the best looking honda they've built--& also like other people why not 01 ex's? why are there no american civics? every other car in the game just about has an american version? do we really need 91,92,93,94,95 civic hatches? i guess you all know that already but really how could they do that?
also V----tEcHHH <---hehe how is it better than vvti? or any other campanys variable timing? i-vtec<---- you're kidding right? soooo. good valve timing low--turn it off for the mid--now back on for high??? why not just build a car with good timing constantly? it would be faster

the b18b1 is non-vtec.

the em1 civic is ugly thats why no one wants it in there. its nfsu and nfsu2. i would drive the 01 though and i would love having american sohc civics in the game.

vvti is more electronic i think. i'm not a toyota expert. vtec offers more power though. i-vtec is the new version of vtec.

now no. its not on low off mid and back on high. there are normal operating profiles on the cam for lower rpms and race profiles for the higher rpms. if you just had cams with the amount of lift and duration that the vtec profiles have you would have no low rpm power. if you just had the non vtec profiles you wouldnt have as much high rpm power. thats why the b18b is rated at 140hp and the b18c is rated 170hp.

advantage goes to b18b1 anyway because you dont need all forged interns if you want to put a turbo. b18c's need it all for a turbo... For my part I choosed the b18c1 because its a good base between the b18b1 and the b18c5. I wont make it turbo tho, because its too much money invested into an engine. The b18c1 is already enough powerful for a EF hatch. For my personal opinion, I'll say, you choose the engine depending on your needs.

One of my friends told me to put Type R cams into the GSR, what would it change ??? Can it gives alot of changes or should I stick with the original cams ?

^^ That 1.6 ZC is way overrated. I had a '90 CRX Si (white of course), 1.6l DC, and I whooped 2 other ZC CRXs at the local street legal drag races. Hahaha... Frig that CRX was quick... fun on the freeway too... zippin in and out  But that was back when I was young and foolish... now I'm just foolish i guess :irked:

Oh you know, its not that overrated... I didnt seen so much ZC here in Quebec, probably because I dont go race... Anyway, it stills a pretty great engine, I like it but I think its getting old and sick... The owner that had it was beating it all the way and I did the first week I had it... So it runs fine because I dont beat it so much (at least on the streets), but I think its time to change to something new, if you know what I mean :sly:

actually you dont need to re do the internals on a b18c just for a turbo if you run average boost. the b18b isnt any better other then the lower compression its not any stronger.

now as to type r cams, integra type r cams are a better all around cam then the gs-r cam so if your doing head work sure put a set in there. you'll probably want to put in some new valve srpings though or you may have some valve float. the civic type r cam has a better high rpm range then the itegra type are cam so they are even better if your going for peak power but you suffer in the mid range. i think it would be better to go with some after market cams though like toda or skunk2 though if you have a little more money to spend.

alright then... Well I'll see this with some friends to know what would be the best... For sure I'll do some head work so the engine could run at high-rev. I'm not really a racer (or ricer lol) so I dont always peak the engine, but sometimes you know when you're with some friends or that you feel that you want to speed just for pleasure. I'm more high-revving/fast accelerate to reach the speed limit because I like to hear the sound.

Anyway we'll see soon, I'm still waiting for a phone call from a garage to know how much for the full mecanic stuff (engine, tranny) and the ECU... I hope to have news real quick.

Well dude you seems to know alot, I should hit you by if I got some infos to get about my future baby :)

Thanks dude, if you want I'll keep you informed... ;)

Sorry for the off-topic mods, I'm a passionated :)

hope that answer your question

that is a rather good write up. a slight bit biased to the toyota side but nontheless very informative about both.

do you really hope i can help with something or was the more sarcasm?

well you know the quote, everybody is nobody because everybody is different (I just made that up but I think it sounds cool anyway)... If you want to refer me to your forum, I saw it, I'll register later, I'm too lazy cause I got the cold and dont want to do nothing... lol

I think some people just post here to annoy honda fans, why bother posting in here if you are going to write something as wrong as this not to mention trying to start an argument???

Geez, calm down, I've already made several constructive contributions to this very thread. I'm certainly not a Honda guy, but I consider their cars to be very reliable, practical, economical, decent-handling machines, and I really like the NSX, S2000, and the old S cars (because they actually put the power to the correct wheels ;) ).

Anyway...

Dumbass highschoolers with fart cans
"Aw man, I'll kick your ass as soon as VTEC KICKS IN!!"
"The Mustang is useless, it's a non-turbo, but it doesn't have VTEC!"
"Dude, does your Accord have VTEC??" "No." "Aw man your car blows!"

Overrated by many teenage drivers? Yes.

VTEC = (Variable) Valve Timing Electronic Control = Variable valve timing

Variable valve timing = VANOS (BMW) = VVL (Nissan) = VVT(L)-i (Toyota) = Variocam (Porsche) = MIVEC (Mitsubishi) = etc.

Some systems feature lift, some don't, and VTEC features lift, if I recall correctly. However, claiming that VTEC is completely different from an ordinary variable valve timing system is like claiming that an LSD-equipped car is completely different from a car without LSD. It's still the same car, and it still puts power to the same wheels.

VTEC is just a typical variable valve timing system.

Thus, VTEC is just an ordinary variable valve timing system that is horribly overrated by teenage Honda drivers. I don't see how you're offended by this.

lol.. you so mean.

psi civic, can you change that hideous dp back to a honda?..lol.. i prefered it that way. Now with the question. How are the engines named?.. Theyre all like.. b18a or something.. i can make out that the 18 mean 1.8L (right?) and the a,b or c at the end is just spec models (right?) but what is the letter at the front mean?... hmm.. * hails* oh inform me with your overwhelming wisdom... Can you give-th me some info on the EG civic?.. coz as you already know, im in the market but can realy find all that much info about them, and besides, your juicy brain probably has all the info i need XD

well. thanks to certain movies *coughcoughThe Fast and the Furious 1 &2coughcough*, most that we can find by google are some crazy aftermarket parts and riced out civics.. it's really difficult to find any info of stock car since they're so "lame".. :odd: I wouldn't say that 160-180 bhp from 1.6l is lame, but that's what all those wannabe-racers out there think.. oh well.. slap some stickers, shave off the badges and your topspeed and acceleration will rise 2 mph/0.5 seconds..

Visually, I only mod a few things. Like front lip spoiler, small side skirts, like add-ons to make the car appear lower, just small visual items.

I"m not modding anything on outside though on my VR-4.

the Vr4's naturally sit really low though, no need to rice rape it :) which is a good thing keeping with the stock tradition and all lol.

Who said I'd rice rape it?

I never riced out my Acura. It only had small side skirts and a front lip spoiler and new wheels. I went right for the power for it, and I'm doing the same with this one.

After I've gotten it to where I want it, I'm considering a '98 Front conversion.

AH~! miss-interpreted!

i was meerly sharing my disgust in riced out cars. Hmm re-reading my previous post though, im not quite sure any other way you could interpret it other then calling you a ricer.. hmm.. that was unintented. Sorry bout that. ;) what was is in my head doesnt always reach the keyboard the way i want. XD

terrible terrible
