is it standard car Graphicx from PS2?
KCOCw.jpg

I think I would actually prefer if all 1000 cars were modeled as standards,
now a premium car in the field of lesser models will stick out like a sore thumb.
I also would've liked the game to have "only" 400 cars, as long as all would've been premium.

I can't just believe how inefficient PD is, T10 modeled 400 cars in a little over 2 years, and the cars looks very good.
PD modeled 200 cars in 5 years and even though they look better than forza's, the difference isn't significant enough to justify the amount of time wasted.

tl;dr T10 did 200cars/year with interiors and everything, PD should have made the same.

T10 outsourced the models, they didn't make them. PD did.

Because one could be a ZL1, or a convertible. Haven't people been calling the green one a convertible? Look it's simple, one has the standard side-pipes of one model, the other doesn't. There's 2 different C3s and clearly one is premium.

Paulie you cannot call from that angle that either car is different. The C3 also came in two tone.

Go and watch the video again, there are clear angles that you can easily see there are no side pipes on that C3.

I reedited that image on photopshop. That original image is just too grey and dull.

Look at this one:

If someone told you that was a GT PSP screen, you'd almost believe them.

And I wasn't being sarcastic about the 'cover your eyes' thing. The difference between premium and standard is too friggin' big.

I just hope they don't mix them in race events. It just would'nt fit: a beautiful modeled car fighting with a PS2 counterpart. No.

And for those who think I'm pessimistic, I'm not. 200 cars is still a great lot, and I'll enjoy them fully.

I agree thats a strange though process to only have 20% of your cars actually finished with the full detail. It just proves the point again that they went way over their head trying to set their main goal as 1,000 cars. They should have set the car goal to around 500-600 and make all the cars detailed. They really dont need duplicate cars. As an example, I am guessing there are at least 20 Skylines in the game. The optimistic way to look at this is hopefully they will add a lot of updates to this game. Who knows, maybe as months go by they will continue to make the other cars "premium".

So they have 2 options at this point.
1. Bump the game another year or 2 and make all the cars premium.
2. Release the game in November and continue to update the game making more and more of the cars premium.

Regardless if only 20% are premium and 80% are not then the game is not finished. I guess my next question is which 200 cars did they pick to be premium? Only race cars like Nascar and Rally?

i m shocked GRRRRRR..

The graphics of standard models don't bother me, only the interior views.

Yeah I do not think we will have a race in which both standard and premium cars. It will look strange.

But I do think standard cars will look much better than the video because the difference is too big or they can have more than 16 or if possible 32 cars with standard models :nervous:

Yep. Check this shot out.

It wouldn't really surprise me if standard models looked pretty much the same as that. I mean, yes, chances are the Enzo is premium, but it still has blacked out windows in that shot due to lighting, plus the details of the rear are darkened. I think standards will look the same as that shot.

it looks like Forza car model

As far as I can remember there where 750 cars in GT4. In GT5 Prologue where a dozen of cars from GT4, all of them with a cockpit view. The logic from the 800 cars is missing for me.

To traveling over the world to all cars in the game would't be hard, so if there are not enough pictures of the inside of a car in PD's database I can understand they don't make a cockpit.

I can not believe that al the Nissan Skyline's in GT5 would't be without a cockpitview, that makes some 120 cars. There in Japan, so traveling would't be a problem.

PD earned so much money with GT, still there working with 130 people on the game. Rent more 3D artists and create cockpits for al cars.

It's a shame, but every time Kaz comes out with a game it's missing some importent parts.

BTW - I think Kaz is pranking us.

The strange thing is we have the R32, R33 and R34 skyline's in premium, and there are like about 30 more variation on those three that only differ is spoilers and rims. I can't believe those other 30 will be standard.

You drive a holden, you should be used to horrible interiors XD

Jokes mate i drive a ford fairmont... no hate.. no hate

Seriously though try bumper cam and give it some time... it is better if you wanna go fast.

I don't believe one view is faster than another, it's what ever the driver is comfortable with. I'm happy with cockpit view, I can see where my car is and my car has some sort of visual character as I drive it.

If you take 200 premium cars.
You race it on every variation just ONCE (x70)
And it takes around 5 minutes average per set up...

5x70x200 = 70 000 minutes = 1167 hours
And I bet you will use some cars more..
I mean.. The game is so vast...
I don't think we can complain, the only problem is they just made us expect 1000cockpits,
although in my head I knew that was impossible , even in 6 years.

I just want the game, no more delay

800 standart cars should be removed from GT5's car list..
Because quality difference between premium and standart models is so noticeable...

This man speaks the truth! Well said. 👍

Here's a little pick me up for you doubtfuls on the quality of the standard cars taken from a review of gt5 on gamershub

"In the standard set you have up to 800 cars most of them you have seen in past Gran Turismo games. If you think that the past cars will look like hand-me-downs from the past GT PS2 games, trust me, your wrong."

Each of the standard cars take every single graphical advantage of the PS3 :D But...haters gonna hate anyway :D

Thanks for posting Worthy. Interesting that they mentioned about 3D not being that impressive.

This is a double edge sword then. Having a standard model next to a premium model will make it stick out like a soar thumb. But if you are not able to race a standard model against a premium model, its just splitting the game up, making it feel like an unfinished product.

Pointless statistic, because hardly anybody would attempt to do such a thing. Very few people put more than even a hundred hours into a game, let alone 1000. This is why including 1000 cars is pontess too. They should have stuck with a lower car count and made them all consistent. Stupid move. 80% of the game use models that don't look as good as Forza 3, and the other 20% look better, and have more features... Crazy.

Damn, for once I have to agree with TokyoDrift :D

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but in my opinion you are talking absolute tripe.

Not surprised though.

Some people are missing the point. They included those 800 GT4-GTPSP cars because it was an easy way to up the car count.

They didn´t spend 6 months on the standard cars, so the comparations are useless. They wouldn´t produce 200 more if they "dropped" the 800 old ones.

They put in as a bonus, because it was quick to do and they knew people would want more car.

200 would not gonna cut it. I wouldn´t like, i´m glad they included the other in some form.

I´m sure others feel the same.

I hope they do the same with the classic fictional tracks. At least include them as standard and don´t stay with the 20+ low number.
